GameStop stores have taken it upon themselves to become just another Hot Topic/Spencer's Gifts wannabe, with new console video games scattered around so that they won't have to change their name and install new signs out front. Game X Change sells old video games and consoles (usually dating all the way back to the Atari 2600). I've been to several stores this year and they all have various 2600, NES, Sega Master and Genesis games, all kinds of Playstation and XBox games from the original systems to the newest ones as well as various controllers and memory cards. They tend to resurface any game discs which looks like they might not work perfectly before turning them over to the customer during purchases which is something GameStop never bothers with. The discs might not always work (and need to be returned to the store for exchange or credit, since they don't do cash refunds), but it's nice knowing they'll at least try to give you a working copy of the game. GameStop just doesn't care, anymore. Employees might not always smile all of the time, but who does? They are friendly and go out of their ways to try and help you find whatever you're looking for which is something missing at GameStop locations these days. The only downside to the company seems to be their website. It's complete and utter garbage. If it was anything like GameStop's, it'd be perfect. Unfortunately, it's pretty much just a store locator with company announcements and a Tweet feed. Yeah, that'll help me track down which store has that obscure title that I've been looking for for the past 20-35 years! Thanks, guys!

Old, obsolete video game systems, DVDs, video game cartridges and discs, equipment repair... and skateboards? It's been so long since I've seen games for sale for the Atari 2600 that I had thought I had the only one left. Yet they have some on hand for sale. And it's staffed with guys who actually know of AND remember the hard corps, 'old school' systems that got us where video games are today. They have prices comparable to GameStop; not that it matters all that much since Cleburne's GameStop has ceased to carry GameBoy games, and will soon stop carrying and trading GameCube games, as well. They carry them for X-boxes, various Playstations, lots of Nintendo systems. Prices for used GameBoys seem to range from $20-60 depending on the rarity of the system wanted. And they take trade-ins on games, systems and movies. I'm definitely going to continue to spread the word about this place in order to keep a good little local 'mom and pop' operation running. :) ------------------------------ (update March 04, 2012) Purchased an old used Game Boy cartridge and a GameCube disc. Game Boy cart needed a little cleaning to get it to work with my GameCube Game Boy Player. Game works great! The GameCube game disc was scratchy and wouldn't play in my GameCube. Upon returning it to the store, the sales associate tossed it into the disc refinishing machine for free. The game works perfectly, now. :) ------------------------------ Games & Movies Traders has moved from next to Whataburger on West Henderson to it's new location next to the Cinema 6 on West Henderson in Cleburne, Texas. They also no longer sell movies so I guess it's just "Games," now. :)

Can you find items for less somewhere online? There is a chance that you can as with most things, even target pulls the buy it online for pick up for less than walking into the store. Can you make more by selling your items online yourself? Yes you can! There is some trade off to being able or willing to take a bit of a hit on things if you know its out of our hair right away vs things sitting at our home for possibly months waiting for it to sell on online resale sites. For my personal experience, this shop took care of us when repairing my PS2. They have always been awesome to my kiddo when we've brought him in to shop. He got more for some skylander figures, than he would have at other similar stores. Honestly my kid made money on the skylanders cause we had gotten them on super clearance when being phased out of most stores and we had held on to them and lucked out that my younger kiddo liked the game too!

The store definitely generates a welcoming environment and has plenty of room for game nights. They also had a small food bar that was just a perfect snack. I used to buy at Barnes & Noble and Amazon, but this place has a much better price and promotions. Although not my thing, this store has a section for Warhammers, D&D, and living card games. It also hosts tournaments and game demos, of which schedule can be found on the store website or social. The only minus point is there is no shipping if you're from out of town.
