I know it's not the popular thing to do to give accolades to a Gamestop, but I have to express how much I love the staff at this location. They're personable with customers. They like games and it shows. They actually smile. The store is clean and usually checkout is fairly swift. Midnight releases (I was there for the Switch drop) are friendly and filled with trivia, prizes, engagement instead of just awkward stares. In all seriousness, this is a great location and whomever is responsible for hiring here deserves a high five. read more

I really like this game stop because the employees there are always very nice and respectful and they actually know about video games. From monotone voices to sharp snippy comments like are you sure this is yours and talking amongst each other ignoring costumers presence right at the counter. That being said their lack of knowledge about store police's or attempt to lie to get me out of the store to get back to their conversation by saying they didn't take ps4s then to we don't take them without HDMI cords to them back tracking after I checked online while in store, and saying they didn't have any and needed to re-stock saying things like " then maybe you can come back" made me be like okay I won't come back. Additionally this brings up an Inventory concern where costumers now have to work around this game stops lack of preparation because of inventory miss management. to add to that they expressed no intention of re-stocking any time soon when asked. If possible I would rate this 0 stars, I used to go here a lot but I won't be making any trips back here any time soon. read more

I went to buy a Pre-used PS4 and as I walked into this Gamestop the employees seemed happy, cheerful and helpful but, as I was conducting the purchase the cashier seemed Uninterested, distracted, and rude. I attempted a small conversation while they rung up my purchases but, the guy who did just looked at me as if I ruined his whole day and while I asked about the stipulations like if it's defective what should I do or how many days I have to return the items I purchased, he completely disregarded what I was aking(Now mind you the store was empty except for one other employee, me and one other customer also I shopped there around 11 am or 12 pm so they couldn't have much to do from 9 am until that time.) read more

Stood in line for over 23 minutes about a week ago to purchase a gift. There were two associates on duty. One is a young woman (Jess) who seems to be doing all the work but also seems like a recent hire and keeps asking lots of questions. Her (I think?) supervisor is wearing a name tag that reads "Miles". Miles apparently can't do anything. Jess had been trying, unsuccessfully, to resolve a customer service situation with the man in front of me. His basic issue was that he couldn't afford a PS4, wanted some extremely low rate on a monthly payment plan to try and get one, and a bunch of free stuff to go with it. All of this could have been resolved with a simple "No - you need to have money to buy things", but it took them over 23 minutes to get there. The man eventually leaves with nothing. While we all wait, Miles apparently can't bother himself to use the other cash register. Instead he busied himself by wrapping up cords, playing games, and talking to friends on the phone. My transaction, by the time I finally got to the counter, took less than one minute. In fact, by the time I did check out Miles' phone conversation had become so personal that he actually stepped of the floor to talk and left new hire Jess behind to do all of his work. So, bravo Jess, you did what was probably your best in that situation and I am awarding you the only star in this review for at least executing your duties as a cashier. But Miles, if your boss is reading this, I hope he takes you out of management. You're wasting your customers time and betraying the associates who work under you through lousy work ethic and about zero interest in providing customer service. If you want to spend your days talking on the phone with friends and playing games, you'd be much more comfortable in your parent's basement instead of wasting someone else's payroll. read more

It's a GameStop so expect tons of excited kids and equally excited gamers. That I haven't got a problem with, especially since I'm one of these gamers. The issue here is the short staff. And I don't mean vertically challenged. I went in just after Christmas to pick up a amplified sensor bar for my Wii and the lines were out the door. Two guys were at the register and another employee came frantically out of the back putting on his badge; apparently this third employee was called back in work because of the amount of customers. The store itself is kinda tiny so that doesn't help. On top of it all, the key to the locked items couldn't be found, which is what was needed for obtaining the sensor bar. Cardboard packaging and a utility knife solved that problem. I know for a fact that this location is going through a change of management and in all actuality I had more fun shopping there before this shift which is supposed to streamline things. The manager has only been there since November, but at the end of December I would hope to have seen better organization. The employees are awesome, but I think they could use a bit better direction. read more

A while back I preordered smash bros for 3DS. On the release date, I had to be out of town, but the manager (whose name I can't remember, but he's blond and handsome, haha) was extremely flexible. He let one of my friends pick it up for me (he was going to meet me in Seattle). There were no hassles at all. The Destiny release was also handled quite well. The crowd management and the way they kept the crowd engaged was phenomenal. I also sold them my Xbox 360 and all of my accessories. I got quite a bit more than expected! They were extremely fair in the pricing. My review is a bit late, but I really did enjoy their customer oriented demeanor. read more

The female employees are pretty helpful. Of course they try to sell you everything under the sun (per GameStop sales strategy) but they can aren't overly pushy and move on rather quickly. The guys on the other hand try to sell you the same warranties, soon to be released games, credit cards etc, but they are uber aggressive about it. After my saying no to the 5th or 6th sales speel, I would think one would back off. I understand it is a policy implemented by company heads but still. Every time I enter this store, there is usually one person working with at least 3 or 4 individuals in line before me looking to trade in the old systems and entire game libraries. This is not an exaggeration. I find myself waiting in line on average at least 20 minutes. Please schedule two employees for peak times. If I know your store has a slew of trade ins everyday then surely you do. Your customer service is affected immensely. I am on my way there this afternoon to make a purchase. I have been a long time customer of GameStop for several years. Today, 2/24/2019, was the first time I walked from a GameStop angry and insulted. I had an issue w/ a game. I returned said game w/ an explanation of what was wrong. It was then stated (indirectly) that I was lying due to no one else having the issue. On 2/22/2019, I purchased Anthem: Legion of Dawn edition for $80.00, w/ three trade ins to offset the price. Now, for three days since, I have received a message stating that EA servers are, "attempting to connect---." I tried for three days and several attempts to correct the issue! I checked my internet connection. I downloaded two to three updates. Nothing! Same issue! So, eventually, I return the game because at this point all I have is an $80.00 paperweight. And, yes, in process, I used the accompanying codes because I assumed that I would be playing the game. When I returned the game, employee Adrian 331788 accused me of lying, 'since no one else came in w/ the issue.' This was clearly not a GameStop issue. It was EA server issue that still left me w/ an unusable product. For this employee to insinuate that I was lying, to insinuate that my issue was an inconvenience for him was a slap to my face! That I would cheat GameStop over a damn game is an insult to me! Maybe, next time I decide to purchase a game, it will be through Amazon. Or at the very least, another location beyond 1751 W Howard! If Adrian 331788 actually had the common sense, common customer skill to realize that I am not the only person to have this unique issue. Simply go on line. But what do I know, right? Worst store I've ever been to. If I could give 0 stars I would !! I've never been treated so poorly as I have today at this store. Having been a customer of game stop for over 10 years I'm appalled by their customer service. I went to trade in my xbox360 system, games, and turtle beach headset only to be told my system doesn't work?! I'm sorry but I know my system works fine, I'd of lost my mind had it not worked. The man behind the counter said he couldn't see anything on his screen so my system doesn't work. Knowing full well that this was untrue I refused his offer. I told him I knew it works fine and that I'd go to another location. He said "oh well". I asked if they had another TV to see if it could have been their TV. He said no that the TV had worked fine all day that it's my system. He wished me luck and walked off from the counter. Didn't provide any explanation as to what the issue could have been, didn't offer any suggestions he just walked away. After loading everything back up he walked back to the counter and said "sorry about your luck." I will NEVER go to this location again. read more

Tonight I went into this shop with my daughter. We were selling a couple of old Wii consoles, along with some accessories. I told her she could buy a game with the money we made selling it. I was feeling overwhelmed and sad about the world because it's one of those times where it seems the whole world is spinning off its axis. So it's weird the reassurance I could get from the basic human decency of the staff at this store. They introduced me to a fellow who runs an after school program nearby was there. They talked to my girl about the games and anime she liked. It's so encouraging that while gamers online are so often overwhelmed by the jerky sexists out there, in the real world, they're mostly people who really like something and like to talk about it with other people. Different ages, races and genders all just liking the same thing and liking other people who do. I'm totally clueless about gaming. But based on the crowd I see at this place, I'm really happy my kid does. read more

Just went to pick up a game that I had pre-reserved weeks ago at the Evanston Church Street location, which unfortunately is now closed. Just seven days after release (we were on vacation so couldn't pick up earlier) and after driving all the way across town, I was told that they were out of the game and that they only hold games for 48 hours. And the staff was not nice about it! What is the purpose of giving them money to reserve a copy if it's not going to be there when you go to pick it up? And what's the purpose of being indignant and snotty about this ridiculous policy (if that even is the policy) to a customer standing there with her 10-year-old, very disappointed daughter? Honestly, it's another GameStop, even if they're pretty rude sometimes. They constantly seem to want to get you out of the way, even if there aren't any customers behind you. I also went in for my Shiny Gengar promotion, and they insisted I had to pre-order Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire to get it, and I actually had to pull up Pokemon's website on my phone to show that there was no purchase necessary. I guess I'm just used to my super-friendly home GameStop, but this one isn't terrible, even if it's not above and beyond. read more
