3/13/21 Yes, this store has some exciting things for my gaming system. I did not know there is a Cobra Kai game where you can pick which dojo you wish to represent. I saw games for playstation 5, but I am not yet sold on this system yet. However my time with Playstation 4 and its games will eventually need to go to the Playstation 5. There was only one staff member working that I could see and she could only have 4 to 6 people in the store at one time. Nevertheless, I enjoyed looking at the games. I went to the Wheaton mall Gamestop to grab a gift. I am a GS member and black. Well apparently they didn't want my business. I stood there for 15 minutes. No one acknowledged us. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had parking to the right of the building in this part of Wheaton where parking is limited or nonexistent. I picked up two $5 deal-of-the-day shirts that I had ordered and paid for online for in-store pickup. No lines, and only a couple customers on a Friday evening. This employee gave me crap about me liking souls-likes, i was shopping for a copy of elden ring. Said employee was very short with me, complaining that he was hungover and that i was "waisting his time" when i had asked how much it would be for a ps5 controller charger, which sadly was far more expensive than walmart's. I had asked for the employee's name, and to my surprise, he said his name was Anthony and that he was manager. Really makes you wonder where gamestop finds these people. I have been a gamestop member for many years now. Normally, I'm not one to review a place, but the customer service so irked me that I felt it a public service to speak out! I visited this evening while doing some early Christmas shopping and found a good stack of games and memorabilia that I wanted to get. At first glance, the place seemed okay, but the gentleman (that is me being generous) who performed the transaction was a real piece of work. firstly he mentioned that it would take a while to get the game, which I thought was a throwaway comment, but he seemed genuinely displeased with doing his job. When it got closer to close, the man found all my games, but slammed the stack on the desk, which really bothered me, since those items were merchandise that I was paying for and did not wish to be damaged. He walked away from the transaction before we had finished our business and shuttered the place. Before he could complete the transaction, he once again delayed by attempting to handle another customer who had come in after they had put the gate down for closing. finally we finished, and I asked for a bag, which he summarily just threw across the counter to me. I will never shop at this gamestop ever again, all thanks to this fellow who can't understand basic customer service. read more

Don't visit the mall one for convenience, go to this one and get better service, I moved over here after serveral bad experiences at the mall gamestop, one my best decisions hands down! Draw backs are location/parking if its not busy or you arrive early for a "midnight release" then you should have no problem parking. Game on! Are you an person like me who gets overwhelmed when you walk into these stores. Hey I grew up on Atari and Nintendo so I have some game cred. I am a gamer OG. Lol. Ok so are you at a loss when you go to these stores what to buy? what is the "it" game? Well not anymore, I think this has to be my favorite Game Stop. Here is why. The store is extremely open inside (not cramped) and stocked with unique finds. Even if I went in for a game I might come out with some other kool gifts like shirts, pants, mugs, hats, Pokemon stuffed animals, watches, boardgames, etc. the list goes on and on. I did reserve a game, but bought some additonal stuff too. I know writing this would let the secret out, but thats part of what I need to do. RIGHT? So they always have sales and clearance items. I was just there for half off lowest price. What I enjoyed about my experience is the big assortment of games and lots of collector pieces. Big shout out to Brianna. She knows her stuff, I been going to Game Stop for years and years and years!!! Not that I can recall - someone taking the time to explain their policies on games - with such detail to include the returns. Taking the time to look at my account to see I had a balance then transfer to a hold, otherwise it would sit in the other store location in limbo. See I been to GameStop and noone else mentioned it being a balance since January. I say that so you can understand her interest in the customer. So I feel like she is looking out for the customer. The other staff members seem to have the same service too.This store is clean, decent parking on street (must pay and restricted times so don't get towed) and side of the building is free!!!! Edit: After talking with the manager she got the system in! I've changed my review to 5*'s because of her excellent service. Make sure you talk to the manager who is extremely helpful if you have issues. Horrible customer service. I'm not a gamer at all but my son loves video games and we promised him a Nintendo switch for Christmas. When we were at the store the salesman talked me into preordering the super smash brothers bundle. I put down a deposit and was told I would get a phone call when it was ready. Weeks go by with no call. I finally call the store and they had already sold it!!! The guy I spoke with said that they called me, which was completely untrue, and now I have to go back to the store to get my money back. Such a ripoff. I purchased the normal console online, thankfully my 8 year old won't know the difference. GameStop has lost a pro member. read more

the manager anthony has a certain tendency to be aggressive towards any questions or actions not normal. he doesn't bring anything of substance to conversation and gives that gamestop location a awful vibe. i couldn't even spend my hard earned money for a gift without him being nasty and refuse service. read more

I've been to this particular Gamestop twice and had two totally different experiences. First off, I usually go to the one in Wheaton Mall since the staff there is really friendly, but since this Gamestop was conveniently located by a road I usually drive on, I decided to give it a try. I came in to purchase an xbox for my brother, but wasn't exactly sure which one to choose since I never don't ever purchase consoles. Jojo, who I believe is an associate manager, was extremely helpful, kind and patient with me. I was deciding between buying a refurbished and brand new one. She was very good at explaining the differences, but because I was rather slow on the matter, Jojo even took the time to write on a sticky for me to better conceptualize. When I say she was patient, I mean - she was EXTREMELY patient. She kindly waited for me as I called my brother multiple times to get his approval. I apologized several times and she kept reassuring me that it was no problem at all. She was positive and smiled throughout her assistance. I left with a brand new xbox and was sure I would come back again with the superb service I got. I came back a few weeks later to purchase a few xbox controllers and trade in some games. Lindsey, who I believe is an associate manager like Jojo, assisted (not really) me this time. I expected to be treated kindly and patiently like I was with Jojo, but Lindsey was just overall really unapproachable and belittling. When she looked at the games I wanted to trade in, she kept questioning the contents like I was giving her bad product. As for the controllers, I asked if it was alright if I could take a closer look at them. I have this habit where I purchase things with minimal to no scratch. As she turned around to get the controllers behind the register desk, I could see her roll her eyes and let out this "Is this girl for real?" scoff. When she finished the transactions, she wouldn't even say thanks or bye. I feel bad for rating this place so low. If it weren't for Jojo, I would give this place 0 stars if yelp would let me. I've never felt so stupid with a fellow female my age working in a game-related industry. My 12 year old son returned a Pokémon card game a day after purchasing it with his allowance money. He and his big brother went inside the store to the return it while I waited inside my car. My son came out of the store a few minutes later and told me the clerk, Alexandria, informed him that he cannot return the cards because he did not have an ID. So I came inside and questioned her about the store return policy and if a license is necessary for the return, ESPECIALLY to a kid. She said it was. I told her to show me exactly where a license/ID requirement is needed for a cash return and that it would be stated in writing somewhere. Then she says, "well I just need an address". That's a LOT different from an ID, and if that's all what was needed then why wasn't he asked that information opposed to being denied. I gave her my zip code and city and she gave me the refund. I have to wonder what is the racial implications of this incident, seeing that my brown son was denied something that he had EVERY right for by a white employee. I called the store manager Ryan the following day, and he essentially tells me she was in the wrong and that she came from another store. Then he goes on to tell me that because he worked with "African Americans" at another store...he would know if she has racist behavior, and further more that a "victim" mentality is exhausting. That actually happened. A white man tells me my concerns for the treatment of my child is a victim mentality when HIS employee denied MY child something that he had every right to. So I would like to say that if you're reading this review and especially a person of color...please DO NOT go to that store because clearly they have some very suspicious behavior while serving a predominately Black and Latino community. Ok so I was at this Gamestop on Sunday. I entered the store and was greeted by Lindsay. She asked me what console and I informed her I have the Xb1 and 360. She informed me and walked me over to the 360 area about the current promotions and games she would recommend from what I told her I enjoyed playing. By far one of the BEST GameStops I have ever been in. The store is not very busy considering they just opened but she did inform me that they are having a midnight launch for Halo 5 and they would be doing a tournament and Redbull would be at the midnight! If you are looking for a Gamestop in the silver spring area this one is the one to be at! Wonderful customer service, they are very nice and very informative. The store Manager Lindsay is by an amazing and wonderful person. She is always smiling. I will be coming here instead of the other one from now on! read more
