From the outside, you would never know that this bookstore is massive. It is literally a maze of books once you enter. Walls and each corner covered in books, artwork, and little treasures to purchase. There is also a large children's area. Don't be fooled by the petite size - they are crammed floor to ceiling with everything from used books for $1 and brand new Prix Goncourt etc selections. Being French, my wife reads mainly in her native language. She has been looking for a good French bookstore for years and we finally found this one while visiting our son in D.C. She purchased numerous books from her list and, while they were slightly more expensive than list price, it saved us lots of time and money compared to flying to France and carrying them back, which we've had to do in the past. This small business is exactly what we need to preserve in our neighborhoods. The owner is extremely responsive, and has taken COVID-19 precautions very seriously with the operation of her shop. Her customers come first, and she is continually taking suggestions to make her inventory align with her customers' needs. Most recently, I went to her shop and asked for childrens' books that had multicultural protagonists, and she just lit up - she has decent amount in store, and is working to add more. This is important to me because the French-speaking world is very diverse, and I want my son to see that in what he reads with me. Her shop also coordinates online Zoom French courses, and worked to offer in-person immersion sessions for parents and children pre-COVID. She ships nationwide, so I have been regularly recommending her store to my French-speaking friends and they are all so satisfied. read more

Not only does this store have a wonderful selection for children, teens, and adults, the owner is extremely welcoming and knowledgeable and makes fantastic recommendations!
