(I'm an American living in the Philippines. First time going to a dentist in the Philippines). I needed a cleaning, and a tooth looked at and decided to give GAOC a try. Since I didn't know any dentist at GAOC I decided to just do a teeth cleaning to get a feel for the clinic and the Dentist. My experience was as follows. The clinic was very clean and modern. I was impressed. The check-in process was efficient and on time. The treatment plan and cost were provided for my approval prior to work starting. Price is at the high end however this was expected due to GAOC's location in a large mall and all the celebrity marketing. The cleaning cost was a 2200-peso consultation fee, 3000 oral prophylaxis and 3750 air polish/stain removal (about $154 US dollars). The Dentist was informative and kind. She showed concern regarding any pain I might feel and adjusted the process quickly whenever I did (she's a keeper). After the cleaning I decided to continue as I was pleased with the service and ask the dentist to look at a tooth I was concerned about. A panoramic X-ray for 2000-peso was taken and then a CT scan for 18,000. After reviewing the scans, it was suggested that I see a specialist for possible root canal treatment and so an appointment was made for the following week. A couple days later I received a copy of the X-ray in an email (nice) but not the CT scan (why?). I sent a reply email asking about getting a copy of the CT scan and general pricing for a root canal. I never received a reply to either question (a big negative for me). A day prior to my appointment I received a reminder notice requesting my confirmation (Yep, from same email address?). I began thinking of being assigned a random dentist to perform a root canal plus they stopped communicating with me. Neither of which sat well with me. I decided to cancel the appointment and do some research on the company and their dentist before going in. I couldn't find much other than what is on their facebook page and website and even those were void of dentist information. I really wanted to get this done BUT with no information on any dentist and no price information I just couldn't pull the trigger (sigh). In conclusion, my impression of GAOC is that it is very suitable for people who will place basically blind trust in a well-maintained modern looking establishment with lots of famous/good looking people as fellow patients (paid or otherwise) and where cost is a secondary consideration if at all. read more

This is for GAOC Megamall. Date of Service Dec 2023 I can see why GAOC has a ton of 5 star reviews, they deserve that for those patients who got what they paid for. For me the true test of excellence is not when things are going normal and smooth but when challenges and problems are encountered, this is when the true character and integrity of a business is tested and measured and GAOC failed. This review is probably more for people who are thinking of getting dental work in Manila to save money because dental work in the west is triple the price. My advise is to only do it for procedures where completion and the results of success or failure can be determined during the duration of your stay. Otherwise, you will be out of luck if things dont go well. They still deserve stars for some aspects like Rose who is the business manager who really sold me the practice, her communication is great and timely. The facilities are top notch and they are pretty good in honoring appointment times (not common in Manila). I was very upfront with Rose on my expectations and I was extremely detailed and she assured me that they will deliver world class service from start to finish. I had 2 of my back molars filled after Dr Emerson Amurao advised me that having a crown is not necessary. According to my US dentist my tooth had a fracture and needs a crown which will cost thousand$$. I never felt anything on those tooth before but I am now suffering from sensitivity for 4 months now and constant dull pain. I have mentioned the sensitivity to them right after the procedure but sometimes its normal and it gets better in time. After a month it was getting worse so I messaged Rose in Whats app since I was already back in the states. We started going back and forth and at some point they no longer responded (attached proof). Instead of Dr Amurao jumping on a quick call to help me troubleshoot and resolve the issue efficiently, he sends one liner questions through Rose back and forth for days and dropped the ball by just ignoring me and hoping id go away. I also dont appreciate Dr Amurao not recording what we discussed during our consultation which results to him telling me things that I did not state regarding the issues I reported to him. My attention to detail is extremely high and I think I know exactly what I reported to him during consultation. This is bad but the most unforgivable part is that they sold me a BLEACHING TRAY and when I needed a nightguard for bruxism. My dentist here in the US confirmed that it is a bleaching tray not a nightguard. In a couple of weeks, it was torn from my grinding. No nightguard will last for only 2 weeks. They charged me PHP 12000 and I ended up getting a new one here in the states. This is really unacceptable and if this were here in the US, you have a recourse especially if other dentists confirm that this is not a real nightguard. I have attached pictures to show a true nightguard which is thicker and not bendable and the bleaching tray they sold me which is super soft and bendable there is no way it would withstand the impact of grinding which is what nightguards are built to do. . This was my biggest fear, there is no guarantee of work. Once you pay, they are done with you. Thats how I felt about this whole experience. I am not getting anything from this review personally but it might help the next person who was in the same boat as I am. I am no longer sending my husband for a tooth implant and I have told my friends and family in Manila about what happened, I will continue to share my experience. Its important that businesses take responsibility and ownership for their work. That didnt happen here and people should know. My attachments proves the authenticity of my claim and the practice surely knows who I am and they cannot deny my existence which makes this an authentic review. read more

My name is Grace Edwards and expats from New York. My husband and I have been living in Makati area for 5 years and I am sharing with you, especially the newbies my terrible, frustrating and so time-consuming experience I had with dentists here in Makati area. These 2 dental group that I will mention are the 2 dental group to avoid by all means. The first one is the BEVERLY HILLS MEDICAL GROUP in Paseo de Roxas. I went to this dentist Dr. Tess Mendoza, for crowns, bridge and eventually an implant. I went to Dr. Mendoza and have seen her in a period of a year and a half. I was never happy with her work because it did not meet the standard I was hoping for from an American owned establishment. The materials that were used was below standard even do the fee they charged was for a higher quality material. This is the reason for all the delays in fitting and adjustments and breakage. I was so frustrated that towards the end of the treatment. I just gave up and just make do with what I have even though I am still suffering from the inefficiency of the dentist. Last month, I decided to go back and see a dentist for my lower tooth that was having a problem since Dr. Tess Mendoza said, I can always come back if there is any problem since it is part of the fee I have paid. Dr. Mendoza was no longer working there and they can not give any information about her whereabouts. They have a dentist named Dr. Jerome. I am a very trusting person, so I gave this Dr. Jerome a chance. That same day he had given 11 crowns and one extraction. I was there for 5 hours. He drilled and drilled most of my lower teeth. I was in misery. He charged me 60.000.00 pesos for the procedure. I realized then that I have made a mistake. Again, the job was sloppy and below the standard of what I expect from this establishment. I am owning my mistake. I asked for all my records for those 4 years I have been coming here. I left and vowed never to return to this place ever again. The second dental group I went to was the GAOC at Greenbelt residences. These are a group of dentists located in the lower ground of the building. The clinic I went to was a very expensive, ultra high tech dental environment and was surrounded by videos of local celebrities touting this establishment. The dentist I met was a Steve Mark Gan, and the first statement he said to me quoting him verbatim "I am not here for the money, I am very wealthy. I am here for my passion to fix teeth that others messed up" That should have been a flag for me, but I like to give people a chance. I was there for a tooth that has been bothering me, a tooth that is next to an implant. After an x-ray and an unnecessary cat scan of my mouth(The x-ray was 2000 and the CT Scan was 14,000), they asked me to come back the next day to study the films. I came back the next day and spoke to Relyn Rembonanza, DMD and she explained to me the severity of my case, that I needed more implants, extractions and that I need a new bridge and crown and that I have to wear a denture for 6 months and the procedure will be at least a year and that the lower teeth have to be replaced even though I have explained to them that It was just done last month. They said because they do the upper that the lower has to be adjusted. I realized then and then that these people are there to take advantage of me being an expat, and they saw dollars signs all over. I just took off feeling so angry and frustrated. I am still looking for a real dentist who can sincerely help me. Please, expats, avoid these places. I learned a very hard lesson and very costly experience. Do not even attempt to give it a try and please share my experience to all expats. Sincerely, Grace Edwards read more

During the late 90s, world-renowned dental surgeon Dr. Steve Mark Gan observed that dental clinics and surgeons in the country had a non-approachable image to the public, and this greatly concerned him. "My goal was to really change the dentistry landscape in the Philippines. I want to remove the scary factor. It should be glamorous, more lifestyle oriented," Dr. Gan says. With this vision and his knowledge on the latest technology in dental medicine, the US-trained took the challenge to take a different route from what is perceived as normal in the dental industry by establishing the Gan Advanced Osseointegration Center (GAOC) in 2001. More than the regular oral diagnostic, dental, and surgical procedures, GAOC specializes in dental implant surgery where missing or damaged teeth are replaced with artificial ones that appear and feel authentic- an alternative to dentures that run the risk of falling off. These procedures are implemented by dentists who were sent abroad to undergo intensive training in specialized courses such as prosthodontics and laser gum surgery in Italy, and advanced dental implant courses at the University of Washington. The high credibility of dentists goes along with modern equipment and devices that are fully adapted to handle the stringent dental requirements of patients, ensuring safe and comfortable procedures. Moreover, the dental center's lobby exudes a serene ambience with its tropical atmosphere as patients are welcomed with a variety of refreshments and entertaining reading materials. Advanced plasma television sets and high-quality acoustic system are also set in the said area. Upon entering the glass doors of each private room, these high-ceilinged treatment rooms house state-of-the-art dental equipment that assures patients that they are safe and sound for their medical procedures. The feeling of security and the center's modernity has gained GAOC the title "Dentist of the Stars". read more
