Well, don't let the name scare you off, because honestly it made me think twice about going in…read more When I did go in though, I was pleasantly surprised. I actually ended up going there twice in a week, once for dinner, and once for lunch, during my recent stay in Oslo.
The first night I visited the first thing that hit me when i walked through the door was the delicious smell, the good atmosphere and how absolutely crowded it was. I never would have thought that a place that was called "Curry and Ketchup" would have so many guests. To be fair, it was a friday night. We got a table on the ground floor, but I gather that there are more floors, because people kept disappearing downstairs.
The waiter wasn't especially friendly, but he wasn't unfriendly either. I met the same man when I came back for lunch a couple of days later, and he was much friendlier then. I reckon he was just a bit stressed.
Now the food. It wasn't spectacular. But it was good, it was so good that i went back a second time, even though there are plenty of returants to pick from in Oslo. I would recommend chicken over lamb though, mainly because I got a disgusting piece of fat that I almost chocked on in my lamb dish, but I may be a little over sensitive when it comes to these things.. And in my opinion, the lamb was a little over cooked.
The Naan bread was good, the mango lassi was dull. The rest of the drinks menu was just as typical and boring as most restaurants, but most people will find something they like.
The only thing saving this place from getting a 3 star review though, is the prices. Had it been expensive, I wouldnt have felt as good about recommending it. But honestly its a good meal for a fair price. Go for it!
