It's National Library Week so I figured I'd check out a new to me library. I will say in general…read morethe Wake County libraries are so awesome. Richard B Harrison Library is no different. It's directly off of New Bern Ave and easy to drive right by it without even realizing it's there. This is the smallest library I have been to in Wake County, but it is still has everything you might neat. They have beautifully curated displayed towards the front and then the standard racks after that. They have quite a few computers and a printer if you need to utilize it. The children's second was also quite cute. They have a nice little seating area there and plenty of fun books on display. I love that Wake County in general has the Lucky Day section. It's a small section where you can get new release books and skip the month's long waitlist. I was able to score the new Emily Henry book that just got released yesterday. It truly was my lucky day! The librarians were both very friendly and parking was easy as well.

I've been pulled over only once by these guys and nothing bad happened. So that was nice. Having said that I don't appreciate getting pulled over in the first place - especially when I didn't do anything wrong. But I'll give them a neutral rating since so far I've had overall neutral experiences with them.

It's kind of a beautiful 1960's-ish building from the outside, and apparently from the inside. If you leer through the windows and walk past apparently a uniformed police officer will come out and ask what you're looking for. But he's a nice guy and you can chit chat about what actually is in this building? He says mostly offices, and some public geneology references on the first floor. And there's stuff to see nearby and oh where are you from? I'm from there too! So overall very nice, just, I guess, nothing to see. (but it only makes me more curious about the ancient décor and furniture inside!)

This is really two libraries in one. On the first floor, there is the Information Center. This is a…read morereference library. It is also both a state and federal government docs repository. Some of the reference collection is open stack and available for browsing, but the bulk of the collection has to be requested via call slips. The second part is upstairs in the mezzanine. This is the Genealogical Research Center. This is the largest genealogical library in the state and has a wealth of material not just on North Carolina, but for most of the eastern states, as well. particularly for Maryland and further south. The bulk of the collection consists of published materials, books and periodicals, and some microfilm. There are some vertical files, but most manuscripts and all original North Carolina public records are held by the State Archives (a separate institution). The staff here is very knowledgeable and helpful, and they always seem glad to answer any questions. The library was just renovated this summer, so the space is very nice.

The Raleigh Police Memorial was established in 2009 to keep the memory of alive of the men and…read morewomen who made the ultimate sacrifice serving Raleigh. The memorial currently honors eight individuals who died in the line of service. The officers showed a commitment to duty, honor, service and safety for those who live and work in Raleigh. The memorial is in Downtown Raleigh at the Raleigh Municipal Building near Nash Square. The memorial has a water feature and 21 pillars that represents the community from which the water flows. At sunset, the water table reflects the sky and illuminates the names in blue. I've not seen the memorial at night but will make sure I stop when I am in Downtown Raleigh at night to pay tribute to these officers.

The North Carolina Fallen Fire Fighter's Memorial is a nice tribute to the men and women who lost…read moretheir lives in the line of duty. The Memorial is in Nash Square in Downtown Raleigh and across the street from a fire station. The large memorial is a bronze statue with four firefighters. Three firefighters are rescuing a fourth that was under a steel beam. The names of the fallen heroes who have died since 1902 had to be redone as they ran out of room as unfortunately more names needed to be added. They also include those who have died of heart attacks and car accidents. If you are near Nash Square make sure to stop by this memorial.

Someone at Yelp removed my previous review because I had not been to the NC State Bar's physical…read morelocation. You are not required to appear in person there unless your case moves forward. Of course, my case was dismissed. My ex-lawyer let us appear before a magistrate as a corporation with no legal counsel. She gave us no warning that that situation is an immediate dismissal of the case. I had detailed a lot of other travesties created by my ex-lawyer in my previous review. I cannot recreate the review as of yet. A professional in the legal field actually suggested that I report my ex-lawyer to the bar. She was that bad. I will submit proof to Yelp that I did have a case with the bar in the future. Fight for your rights. Especially when someone has no passion for their career, but just wants you to pay for her and her husband's constant vacations.
