From my perspective, Cary continues to be a safe, clean, up-and-coming town with a lot of smart people. It seems like a great place to raise a family. I've heard Cary referred to as "Cannot Afford Raleigh Yet" and "Containment Area for Relocated Yankees." Haha. Seriously though, with all the new construction in recent and forthcoming years, I can see the appeal in living here as opposed to Raleigh. Just look at places like Fenton as one example. As a mom of busy teens, Cary Regional Library has become one of my family's favorite places to…read morestudy, read, and work. Both the kids and I enjoy using the tables and couches in the large, well-lit study areas upstairs. You can grab a table by a window (natural light all day!). And there's a great quiet room upstairs for those who really need to lock in and focus. When you have a long study session, you can take a quick break and get some fresh air at the Downtown Cary Park which is right next door. There is a parking deck where parking is free, but the deck gets busy on some weekends and evenings. I've seen drivers round the corners in that deck going a little too fast. If you have small children, I recommend parking mid‑row--far from the ends where cars sometimes seem to appear out of nowhere.

Various musical groups (not famous, but still decent) will perform there during the summer, generally on Friday evenings. It's quite a fun place to sit out on a blanket as the sun goes down, eat a picnic dinner, watch the little kids free-form dance, and listen to some fun music. It's a small venue, so it feels intimate. It's generally lightly attended, so I haven't had to show up early for seating. Occasionally a train will drive by on the tracks about a hundred yards away. During intermission, go inside the center and look at the art on display there. The concerts are free, and it's a relaxing way to spend a summer evening. Look for the schedule titled "Starlight Concert Series".

After reading all the reviews, I was pretty anxious about going to the DMV. I had made an appt for…read moreSept but canceled after seeing so many people say that they were made to wait outside in the heat. I rescheduled for 730am Nov 1st and it was freezing outside, but I had a very good experience overall. A couple tips I wanted to share that I haven't yet seen on the reviews. If you have an appointment, go inside right away and check in with the desk so you can get a number. I arrived at 7:15 and was told by one employee to simply have a seat and I'd be called at my appt time. My appt time came and went and over a dozen walkins were brought in during that time. At 7:35, I checked in at the desk and was told that I should've done that already as soon as I arrived. My paperwork was verified and I was given a ticket. I received a text with my ticket number as well. I was prepared to wait forever since I hadn't checked in immediately. Thankfully, my number was called almost immediately at 7:40. The clerk was very pleasant and friendly. I was out by 8 with my new drivers license, less than an hour after arrival. I can't stress this enough, but it really pays to be friendly and polite. I smiled at everyone and they were all courteous in return. If you don't speak English, please make sure you know what you need because the employees only speak English and had a tough time understanding those who did not. A translator will not be provided. My last warning: the employees were extremely communicative and gave updates every few minutes. They told us all that the kids were out of school today so many of them wanted to take their road test and the wait would be 3-5 hours. You must make an appointment if you don't want to wait forever. They also told us that if we got tired or cranky that we should just leave. Parents were also asked to wait in their cars and not inside with their teen in order to allow more chairs for other patrons. I moved from out of state and already had a RealID so I brought my SS card, drivers license, water bill, electric bill, and car insurance verification. These were all required and worked out for me. I took the vision test and there were 20 road signs on the test that I had to read out. The first 16 are normal signs but the last 4 are completely blank and you just have to recognize the shape, which is really confusing. Some are obvious like a stop sign, but I didn't recognize the shape of a "no passing zone" sign. It was the only one I missed so not a big deal but just a heads up. Study the signs while you're waiting. They have printouts at the front desk. I'll add more tips if I think of them. I was prepared to wait for hours even with an appointment and I was pleasantly surprised.

There is plenty of parking & a quiet room for ADD & special needs folks with spinners etc. I love almost all the librarians with one notable exception who shall remain nameless but I'm told she gets lots of complaints. The internet isn't as strong as I think it should be for the amount of people who use it! I do appreciate that the librarians have tables set up with their favorite books. I do wish they would go back to the old days where quiet was observed but the Apex library is better about that I've found. I wish wake county libraries would have DVD's the way Durham libraries do.

Has a great quiet room where several people can study without too much distraction. The desks throughout the open area in the library are generally taken if you come here after school. Lots of local students study here. My kids have met tutors here to study and done their own independent study here. The staff is friendly and helpful. Bathrooms are decent enough. Dated but generally clean. Library was closed for a few months so this may have changed. I didn't visit the restroom on my most recent visit.
