Avoid this place. Unhygienic, terrible service, and blatantly discriminatory. I stopped here while passing through on vacation, hoping for a good non-fast food meal, but had a gross experience. I stood in line right behind a few customers, happily chatting with them while waiting. However, as soon as they finished and it was my turn, the staff completely ignored me. I was left standing at the counter for over five minutes while the employees did absolutely nothing. It wasn't until another Mexican gentleman walked up behind me that they acknowledged anyone, they completely bypassed me to take his order first, literally calling out to him to order. I had also happily chatted with him, and the situation was so blatantly obvious that he realized how awkward and wrong it was. He actually stayed by the counter to help me and told the employee to take my order. When she finally did, she played dumb and pretended not to understand any English when I asked and pointed at the ingredients. Yet, the moment I turned to the other customer to ask for help, she answered me directly in English, proving she was just intentionally making things difficult for me. To top it off, the food safety standards are a major concern. She prepared my entire burrito barehanded while wearing rings, grabbing the onions and cilantro directly with her fingers. After all that trouble, the food was completely bland and flavorless. The only flavor came from the red sauce. I'm a firm believer that someone being racist just shows their own insecurities, especially since I was happily chatting with the other customers. But being blatantly racist and then serving me the most bland food is absolutely insane. I deeply regret not just going to the Burger King down the road where I would have been treated better and have had seasoned food. Save yourself the hassle and pass on this place. read more

Service there is very unpleasant, the workers are not only very rude but very unprofessional, when you tell them about the quality of there produce they get mad and ignore you fruits and vegetables are so bad some even moldly and they charge top dollar it's ridiculous,I rather go to Viva's on Yosemite they charge more money but the quality in there produce and meats is well worth it and excellent customer service . I absolutely love this market! It is such a pleasurable addition to Empire. I love the meat counter. It is huge and has such an assortment - everything is fresh! You also have sort of a Taqueria with many assorted dishes, and we get dinner there all the time! I honestly stopped by this market on my way home after work because I was craving hot cheetos & I'm so glad I stopped! This review is solely for the meat department since that's what I get every time I go. The market it a relatively small compact store with narrow aisles but I must say they have amazing beef flap, the taste and texture is delicious and tender. I've also bought the pechuga marinated chicken and the large raw shrimp there which are great! They have a wide selection of meat and protein and the wait is never long, the staff are always prompt and on their toes serving the customers. qThey do have a little place to order food on the left side when you first walk on... Garcias Market on Empire has bad costumer service. Their meet department people suck bad costumer service manager looks like he's afraid of his own staff we made a complaint about his staff and he seemed like he was afraid of his own staff. This one tall Mexican light skined guy very rude kept talking over us and threatened my husband to go to the parking lot. We told the manager forgot to get her name petite curly black brown hair up in the front she said the employees already have problems with the one tall guy and that she believes us about what we said about him. But didn't even called him right away to speak with him. So guess what we did we left all the meat they were arguing with us telling us we couldn't choose our meet I guess they have to put that crap back themselves. One thing I know and I have worked at store/Mexican stores is that its what the costumer wants since we are the ones that are paying for it. Terrible customer service. I went in to order some food and asked if I could use the bathroom. 2 cashiers had me "waiting" for them to open the bathroom for about 10 minutes. I didn't rush them because they were attending others. Then the owner comes out and asks if I needed help. I said yes I've just been waiting for the bathroom to be opened. She asked if I was going to buy anything and I said yes I am. So she says ok let me open it and as she's walking to ask the cashier who originally had me waiting she turns around and says the bathroom doesn't work. Today as I was on the phone with my niece as she entered Garcia's Market with my great niece in her stroller. My great niece is a preemie, and is very susceptible to bacteria. My niece has frequented this store for the last 7 months almost daily she does wear a backpack as well because she walks running her errands and she has never experienced such disrespect. She was told today by apparently the manager of the store as she was to leave her stroller outside. My niece was caught off guard because she likes this store. Unfortunately, now with this poor service it's left a bad taste in her mouth. Unfortunately also, the manager doesn't know my niece has a disability where she can't carry her baby for long periods of time and she needs to have a stroller. She has also noticed in the past being followed around previously. this very same lady previously popped her head into the stroller to see the baby and say hi these experiences unfortunately made my niece never want to return. I know we are in trying times but with compromised immunity's and with Covid still running around you can't expect a woman to put her sleeping baby into a dirty shopping cart! To the management of this establishment I really hope you learn to be better and do better. There's a lot of people in this world that have disabilities. I really need to know who the owner is. I know the man passed away a couple years ago & I feel at that time the staff was always friendly & greeted you as well. I'm not tryin to sound like a Mexican Karen, but I come to this store because it's down the street & beats drivin to Costless on busy Yosemite. Every one is still ok but the kitchen area is horrible. They ignore you when your waiting your turn to place an order or pick up. And they just look at you & walk off. Even when I send my husband which he hates going there now cuz as it is, they think he's lying when he tells them he don't speak Spanish & give him a dirty look & talks among each other & look back at him. I just want to say people needs better training & if someone don't speak Spanish don't get mad. I work in retail as well & don't get mad because I have to speak Spanish or English!!! Terrible customer service. They don't greet customers when walking in the door. Seems like the clerks are having a bad day everyday. But then what else can you expect, owner is rude so that is the example she is setting on the clerks. Food is cold and over priced. Kitchen workers do not wear masks which in my opinion is a must especially during covid. On another note return policy is horrible. If you buy something and you take it back because it's expired they don't offer to exchange it they just tell you they can't take it back and don't offer a refund either. Enjoyed going here until tonight. Went to get my fiance a sope & some horchata for his birthday, I was the only person in line besides a couple ahead of me. The tall lady who came up to me greeted me by saying, "Yes?" I asked her for the horchata first then she said, "Yeah, anything else?" I said, "One asada sope please." She then rolled her eyes & wrote my order. Then I kept seeing her look up at me & whisper to her coworker as they laughed. Then she placed a brown bag with an order on the counter. I never moved & she waves her finger at me & says, "Not for you." So I said ok. As I was waiting other people came to the counter & she greeted them with a much nicer, "Hola, como estas?" So as my food came out she sets it on the counter & says, "Here." I say thank you, she said nothing. Our drink which I paid $4 for was 80% ice. I brought my kids here for burritos and tacos and I'll never be back. Everyone got very ill for two days. My son even had to be treated at the ER for dehydration from diarrhea. This was our first meal of the day and this was the only meal that all of had eaten together in 3 days. There is no doubt in my mind that this is where we all got food poisoning. I chalked it up to a learning experience UNTIL MY SON BECAME SO ILL HE NEEDED MEDICAL ATTENTION. I called to voice my concerns and was told someone "would call me back". They never did. Meat department was clean and hygienic. They had a good variety of items and were not completely out of anything other than mexican chorizo (they only had the spicy chorizo). They said they ran out that morning. The fresh veggie department was also well stocked and offered a good variety of vegetables. The only thing I couldn't find was whole garlic. The tomatoes were still a bit green but very available. There was pan dulce at the front of the store and all looked very tasty. I stopped by their taqueria section and ordered three tacos; carnitas, tripas, and azada. All were delicious although the asada was a bit dry, likely because they keep it over where the hot foods are kept such as the soups, rice, and beans. I think it's called a hot table? Anyway, I also tried their Birria to-go and it was amazing! I made tacos de birria with it at home. This place was only 8 minutes from my house and I would definitely recommend and will be returning again. read more

I used to eat here for lunch a lot. The food is pretty good, and it is normally very busy. They seem to have a nice selection of groceries and meats to. I was contemplating doing more of my shopping here because I believe in helping "the little guy". I decided to quit going there all together though.
