A five minute ride from airport to an airport hotel cost 25.00 no meter just flat rate. When I questioned this driver became defensive and started showing me a zone map. I repeatedly told the driver I did not want to argue however he kept on . The man was rude and did not help me get my luggage out at the hotel just opened the trunk and stood there. Do not use this Company. My mistake just grabbing the next cab in line at airport hopefully you won't make the same mistake. This company has terrible reviews most of them with the same issues such as overcharging , rudeness, lack of professionalism and not using a meter. I got the next cab in line at the airport. I'd never heard of Garden City Cabs, but I live a sheltered life on a remote island on West Coast Canada (yes, it is heavenly). Last time my Mom and I took a cab in Vanc. to the hospital on Burrard St. it was $36.00, but that was 6 years ago with another business. This time I went from airport to close to VGHospital on my own for $37.00. I thought that was fair, and gave him an average tip. He actually tried to give me back $5.00 as change for the fare which would have given him a tip of only a few dollars. I did say that was part of his tip (I paid cash). The driver had been very pleasant to me during the ride and even hauled my bag up the stairs without me asking for help, so not complaining. I had emailed 'Yellow Cabs' over a week ago to get a ride back to the airport and they have not even bothered to reply. Even with all of the bad reviews here, I might risk arranging a cab back to the airport through GCCabs. read more

Had a cab driver tailing me this morning on Hwy 91S, aggressively switching lanes and repeatedly flashing his lights. I use taxi cab service from YVR airport to zone 6 in Vancouver many times over and there has never been an additional $3 "airport surcharge" on top of the $31 rate. My driver this morning charged me $34 and when I noted the additional fee he insisted that there was a new surcharge (which is a lie). One for one and done for done. Went to the taxi stand at Bridgeport Station. Tell the driver Richmond hospital he says "it will be about $18" Which I thought was strange but I said okay and he drove to the hospital. Myself being visually impaired didn't notice that his meter was not running until we get there and he says $18. I respond with "what does the meter say" he says "don't worry about that." I immediately say "your meter wasn't on" and he gets a bit nervous. I tell him I've done this same trip a bunch of times before (with Richmond Taxi). Me knowing that the fare usually $14 to $16. I give him $15 and a $2 tip. I know he basically gets what he wanted but the point is you have to make sure there meter is on otherwise they will always up charge you or try to offer an illegal flat rate. Horrible, terrible service. Called a day in advance to reserve a wheelchair accessible van to pick up my Uncle from Hospice for 2 hour pass. No show, no call. When I called, they just said "trying to figure out something, it'll be 20 minutes." NO EXPLANATION. NO APOLOGIES. Needless to say, no car ever showed up. A CAB DRIVER FROM THIS COMPANY TRIED TO KIDNAP MY SISTER!!!!!!!!!! My sister was out with her boyfriend last night and was coming home alone around 2 AM with this cab company. The driver put her address into the GPS and when they were at the house she told him they arrived. He kept driving and took her to a pitch black area and told her she was at her house. She said no she was not, it was back there where she said. He continued driving and stopped at 5 different pitch black houses telling her she was at the house. She continued to tell him that her house was down the other road they passed and asked continuously for him to go back there. Finally she told him to call the manager, who then hung up on her. She paid the now $80 bill and got out and walked home. She called the manager this morning and was hung up on again, she called the police and was told they couldn't do anything either. Very worried for any other young lady that is more vulnerable than my sister!!! read more

I ordered the service online couple of hours before I needed it. Website was very easy to navigate. I wish I could get the confirmation by email (this is for the management if they are reading it). The driver was very punctual, came in right on time. Because I needed airport service, they sent larger van to accommodate our suitcases. The van was clean inside. The driver was friendly and engaging. His driving skills were excellent, he was driving fast enough but respectful of us and other drivers on the road. Great service! Will use them again. read more

Horrible taxi company!!!!! My father has cancer and was at a Hospice. We called 24 hours in advanced because we were on a time schedule due to a day pass. The wheelchair taxi was supposed to arrive at 11:45am, never heard from them. No phone call (@ noon), my cousin had to call them to remind them why we called 24 hours in advance. They said another 20 mins and didn't seem to care. I called another company, that wheel taxi arrived within 5 minutes of me calling. After arriving to our destination, I still didn't get a call. I have used yellow cabs for many times and I got the sense of how much taxi fee should be charged for a specific distance. Recently I used Garden City Cabs a couple times. There were some Garden City cabs parking around to Bridgehouse station so I just picked one of them. The taxi fee seemed to be more expensive than I expected. I went to my friend's place using a Garden City cab and came back with a Yellow Cab and noticed Yellow charged about 20% cheaper. I asked the Yellow Cab driver if he knew Garden City Cabs charged more expensive than other taxi companies and he said all taxi companies charge the same price. However, some small taxi companies like Garden City Cabs are scamming people. They are able to change the meter in order to make it run faster. This is actually illegal and I think the police should investigate it. However, I would say the Vancouver police are useless. They do not want to solve any small cases but illegal is illegal. You cannot ignore a case because it is small read more
