We were tired from a long flight so we decided to take it anyways. I had asked where he lived as he seemed to be milking the drive and was forever looking on his app and not to much on the road. Last Thursday, April 19, at 4:44pm, I was walking down Burrard Street, on the way to the gym. I was walking southbound, on the east side of the street, and just as I was crossing the lane between the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver and Shoppers Drug Mart/Victoria's Secret, Richmond Taxi #125, license plate JL 6425, nearly hit me. As I was right in the middle of the lane making my crossing, the asshole taxi driver thought that was the IDEAL time to turn. And yes, the driver saw me, because he had the fucking audacity to honk at me to get out of his way, which I barely managed to do. Not only did the driver nearly hit me, but he cut in front of a woman who was walking in the opposite direction, and prevented her from crossing. I am fed up with impatient drivers who hit or nearly hit pedestrians because they can't wait for a pedestrian to complete their crossing. If I had a dollar for every time I have observed or have experienced a driver turning without waiting for pedestrians cross, I could afford a house in Vancouver. Also, I think it's doubly worse when it's a "professional" driver, such as a cab driver or bus driver, and it makes the company look bad. Now, Richmond Taxi is certainly not the only cab company that has nearly hit me; most (if not all) the other cab companies in the city have nearly hit me at one point or another (Yellow Cab is by far the worst), but this time, I'm bitching about it on Yelp. One star for being a shitty, dangerous driver with no regard for rules of the road or pedestrian safety. I hope you lose your license, because you deserve it. I wish I'd caught my taxi driver's name. He picked me up at the Westin Walk Centre Hotel and took me to Granville Island around 3:30pm on 9/17/22. Put up was on time. He was of course professional and courteous. The cab was clean and comfortable. He went above and beyond when he found out I was a tourist. He gave me a running commentary about Vancouver. The sites we passed, what it was like to live there, the median home prices. It was all fascinating and made the drive very engaging. Called to get a taxi and was told the taxi would be pick us up no later than 410am. At 418am we called to get an update and then are told "taxis are busy, they will be there as soon as possible." When we asked for an ETA, they refused to answer the question and just kept saying "taxis are busy, they will get there as soon as they can." Terrible service and unreliable. never enough taxis from 2019. when you get one you have to wait more then 1hour at times even in slower times. as the taxi drivers have the right to choose their fares they pick up longer rides locations instead of a shorter distance away in loca Richmond. many are started to use alternatives services as it's hard to get a taxi at all even when it is booked the night befor. they don't wait until we get dowin our condo elevator either we had them leave after. The worst times are the 1am to 10am taxis and not enough drivers are working to get a Richmond taxi without an excuse they tell yoI as well. this company has to improve the quality and service for it to survive. in this day of Uber taxi services are not up to date on services we need which is convenance and faster services without an excuse by their switch board. they also need to stop asking so many questions about our destinations as many people change their minds too. this makes the drivers not take fairs. unless you are forced to pay an hu tip to make them come. bad bad bad needs improvement Richmond Taxi several people have stopped using this service due to their customer service problems of the taxis not coming either. read more

We ordered a taxi for 4:30 am before a very early flight. The driver showed up on time and was very kind. He informed us about timing of making our flight and how long security and customs would take, which was much appreciated. The fare was fair, and they take credit cards. Seeing as there is no Uber of Lyft in Canada as of yet, this was a pleasant experience of ordering a ride in a different (and more traditional) way. read more

As a regular rider, The drivers are usually kind but I found lately they drivers are getting upset that you are 2 to 5 minutes off the time. They will also lecture you the whole way a few drivers making you want to mean to them and yet I try not to be as they do work hard and long hours. But this company needs to understand customers want a stress free ride to their destination and not be fighting or being lectured by a driver. I get this enough in my regular day and do not need or wish to be rude to these drivers that are rude to you. When you even apologize for being a little late they still do not get off the subject of who late you are. Please Richmond taxi train your drivers at how to have tolerance for the passengers who are not being unjust to your drivers and thankful for this service. As I am. I try to be kind to all your drivers even when they are yelling or upset at me, but the customer service needs to improve please. For you never know what happened in someone's life before they got in that taxi they maybe at the edge of their life or going to cancer treatments. Or something serious to make them feel low like a person feeling depressed and is using your taxi service to jump off a bridge. I have used this co. on a regular basis for some time now/estimated at 5 years .....traveling with them apprx 2x/month. Yesterday my driver was on time/courteous. When the passenger door was opened for me I couldn't help but see that the driver was in the middle of his lunch hour. He hadn't wiped his mouth of a sandwich (??}. The smell in the cab was something I have never had the pleasure of inhaling prior to now. In addition, the cab was dirty. Because it was a snowy/wet/winter day....I consider the dirt unavoidable. When I inquired what the fragrance was......the driver asked me/somewhat sarcastically: "OK....What is it that you smell?" I thought about HOW to respond....showing concern but not sounding offensive. "I don't know. Perhaps it is something you ate." The driver became quite agitated/although he didn't scream at me he DID make it known to get OUT of the cab...although he DID offer to call another taxi. I was in a hurry/did not accept his offer. Although I'm not a lawyer, from a legal pt. of view...there was an offer/acceptance. I'm not headed to Judge Judy for an opinion. But after waiting for a taxi, I probably will never have the time or patience to wait for a SECOND one. I have the worst taxi ride out from all of the Richmond taxi rides today. Driver swung very hashly on every turn and took a longer route to reach our destination. Normally, the charge for my ride is about $7 to a max of $9 per trip. Today, Driver took longer route and resulting the meter to charge $10.80's. My shopping cart's handle bar was crushed and broken due to the harsh swing at every turn. I could hear the shopping cart banging rigorously against the wall of the car's trunk on every turn. I normally like to tip Taxi driver for the same route and paid $15 even though I was charged $7 to $9 as a token of my gratitude. But today, I paid the driver $11 because of his bad attitude. I called Richmond taxi contact number to file complain and but Richmond taxi customer service was reluctant to accommodate the complaint and asked me to file complaints to rtdipatch2@gmail.com. I think that filing complaints here would be better place to catch Richmond taxi managment's attention. I will try to avoid using Richmond taxi in the future. read more

I used to travel weekly for work, so I would take taxis at least twice a week to and from the airport. I always tell the dispatcher the time that I want to be picked up PLUS 5 mins, because the drivers always arrive and call you 5-10 mins before your call time, and if you're not there in their car with 2 mins of that call, they blast your phone. Kinda ridiculous because even locking up takes longer than 2 mins. I don't need you blasting my phone at 6 am. If you're travelling from the YVR airport, there's a set price for your area (I think the max is like $35). Be sure you know what price zone you fall under, because the drivers are always trying to charge you for a higher zone or just straight up run the meter. They seem to be a bit better in the last year. I think YVR has been cracking down on scamming cabbies. And I think they also realized that we don't all enjoy bhangra music at 6 in the morning. read more

Awful. After just landing, I FLAGGED a cab to take me to a liquor store. We showed up, but it was closed. Then, he said " yeah all the liquor stores are closed at this time" WHY DIDN'T you tell me this BEFORE we started the trip? I was thinking. ON THE WAY BACK I saw a few restaurants. I asked him to stop, so I could see if they were open. He stopped 10 feet away from the doors. Ugg. No problem, I'll just walk out to see if these restaurants were open. He freaks and says " you pay, before you check ! " I respond it's 10 feet away, just let me see if they are open. Then he's like " I'll call the police!" I thought led him to go right ahead. One of the restaurants were closed, but the other one was open (tiny signs). I walk the 10 feet and pay him the $12. Oh cabs, this level of service is why Uber is destroying you! read more

I always take richmond taxi atleast 1-2x a week and the girl on the dispatch and drivers in the morning are very kind, polite and helpful. Last night i took a richmond taxi with my daughter from Walmart. This taxi driver never said Hi/Hello and smiled. never Even offered to help carry some things (unlike the other drivers). Every time the car stops, the car is shaking and it wasn't a smooth ride! I regret giving him a tip as i gave him the benefit of the doubt. Always seem to have a problem with Richmond taxi dispatchers.. They are generally rude, dismissive and hang up before confirming or saying goodbye leaving one wondering if they even received the request. I fly in the morning about 2-3 times per month. Today they were asked to arrive at 6:45am. They arrived at 6:25 and left at 6:29 when I was not outside immediately. I called the dispatcher and was told the cab was 3 minutes away. 25 minutes and 3 calls later The surly cab driver showed up. I missed my flight as a result. In the past I was sympathetic to cabs in terms of Uber operating within the city and not paying the same taxes and license fees. Not anymore. These taxi company's are not doing much to win loyalty with surly staff and poor service. I have now given up on them and can't wait for Uber. read more

I woke up way too early this morning to catch a plane bound for Richmond's south terminal airport. Here I was greeted by a line of bright red taxi cabs. I went up to the first car with my heavy burden and the driver was already standing at the back with the trunk open. He helped me load my bags and off we went. The car smelled nice, was really clean and the driver had taken the time to put down rubberized mats and really good quality vinyl chair covers. I commented on the covers and he said he put them in as they are easy to maintain and clean. The car was a hybrid so was super quiet as we cruised into town. The driver was really nice and professional. He asked me which route I thought would be fastest. He did the speed limit the entire time and he didn't cut anyone off or pull any other potentially life threatening maneuvers. When we arrived at my destination he pulled up in front of the building and helped me carry my bags to the door. Today's ride was pretty typical of what I have experienced from riding with Richmond Taxi over the years. Thinking about all my experiences with them it seems I have yet to have a bad one. In fact, I can only think of the time my cell phone fell out of my pocket onto the seat and I didn't see it as I got out. About a half hour later I called the taxi company and reported the loss. A short while later I received a call from my cabbie to let me know he had found it and he would drop it off on his next trip downtown. Which he did and pretty much made my day. So in a nutshell there are still good people out there and some of them work for Richmond Taxi. read more

Well. As a first time tourist to Vancouver, I was excited to find Richmond cab on Yelp and even more excited that they had an app to call a cab, much like Uber and Lyft, which I'm used to here in LA. The app works very well. It's not as sophisticated looking as uber or lyft, but functionally, just the same. The first time I called a cab with the app, it worked out great. The driver picked me up at the flat I was staying at in Waterfront and took me to a club about 2 miles away. The driver was very friendly. The second time I called, I was pretty much told to never call again from my rental flat. I needed to go from the flat to Gastown and the driver gave my friends and I the 3rd degree for calling him from the airport to take us to Gastown. As a first time visitor to Vancouver, I had no idea that the app would call someone so far away to take us to Gastown. He said that we should use Yellow Cab or Black Top for now on. read more

I have very mixed feeling towards Richmond Taxi. But I'm giving them a 4 because I spend all of 20 sec on the phone with the dispatcher and more than 20 min with the actual driver. The dispatcher is almost always a tool. Rude, unprofessional and unwilling to help. However... The drivers are amazing! More than once they have saved my butt from IKEA with my numerous purchases and no way of getting them home. (I don't own a car). They are always willing to help and offer suggestions. Time to get a vehicle from call to the car arriving is short. I've never waited more than 10 min. Request a van and you'll be home with your new loot in no time. read more

Drivers are typically prompt and friendly. However, this review reflects the dispatchers and management teams. I had a lost cellphone in a taxi cab. I was able to get in touch with the driver who kindly assured that he would return it to his office. It was returned to the dispatch office by the driver at the end of his shift, same day, as the driver had promised. However, within an hour of being returned to the headquarters, the dispatch agent had given my phone to someone else. There must've been no identification, no verification of true owner. The dispatcher had simply given it to someone. I suspect the dispatchers may be selling these found items. The only other explanation would be complete incompetence, or utter lack of duty or diligence. After a month now of consistent follow-up on my part, dispatchers simply tell me the phone is gone, with no apologies or sense of duty or obligation. It is spoken as if this is a common occurrence. The GM is far worse, who does not provide a response at all. I am currently still following up a month later. I wont give up. Hopefully my efforts will result in proper diligence for future customers. read more

Having left downtown, I've been at a loss for a friendly, easy to get ahold of taxi service. These folks fulfill that role. I called on a Friday night, didn't wait on hold, and then when an exceptionally friendly woman took my call, she said "well of course you can have a cab to that address! We're pleased to serve". She went on to tell me how long the wait would be, and was generally lovely. The taxi driver was very friendly, and we chatted for the entire trip. I totally recommend this taxi service! read more

I had car issues one day and so Called them at 4:20am one morning and asked for a taxi to be at my residence at exactly 4:50am as I needed to go to work. Dispatcher said ok no problem. I go outside and wait for 5 mins and no cab shows up. When I called to ask where my cab was, the dispatcher says I remember speaking to you but for some reason I don't see a dispatch here for that address. I was furious and said "WTF! Are you serious?! I have to go to work, I asked you specifically to make sure it's here at 4:50!!" His response? He simply just hung up. How do you have such incompetent and rude people dealing directly dealing with the public?! Do you just hire these people directly off the streets without any training?
