This is a top shelf operation. Heidi and her team are experienced and friendly. They have a great (I repeat, great) selection. Pricing is fair. Since we were traveling they repotted a plant to a larger container. They charged us a nominal amount to do this, but it allowed the plants to survive and thrive. In reading a recent comment here, my thought is that if you are on a very tight budget, go the big box route. We love to deal with quality people and organizations. read more

I took a chance and ordered about 30 plants from them this year. I have ordered from PW Direct in the past. My well packed box just arrived and every single plant is healthy and beautiful. I'm surprised by the poor reviews. I've placed several orders from Garden Crossings and have had good experiences. What I like about this company is that they have a LARGE variety of plants. Not just the same old thing. I was able to order Coffee Cup Elephant Ear. I couldn't find it anywhere. Not even Proven Winners Direct. It's very easy to get a hold of them too. I think a big problem is receiving plants via mail is tricky. Sometimes they arrive a little beat up, but with some TLC, they bounce fast. Everything is always packaged appropriately. read more

When we received our plants, do to the package being crushed two of the hibiscus were out of the container and dry with all the leaves being torn from the stem. There was a considerable quality difference in the plants we received even though they were all quart plants. Contacted Garden Crossings and was told to plant the three plants that I wanted replaced and they should regrow the leaves. Two did sprout new leaves but one did not, nothing but a stem. Not going to see much in the way of green this season. I feel I should not be responsible for shipping damage nor just because I am mail order get the bottom of the barrel products. If you don't have any problems possibly a great company, but if you do they are not. read more

It has been 3 years since my last review. My order was delivered in good condition after my last post. I received my trees in good condition and planted them. 17% of the trees grew and then inexplicably died. Two more died the next year. The remaining approximately 80% thrived. Not exceptional but still not bad. Covid time frames created unusual situations that have apparently been resolved by the company. I modified my review to reflect the 80% that flourished. read more

I ordered a quite expensive plant/shrub from Garden Crossing and it arrived brown, sickly looking and stressed, despite my efforts, as a season gardener, the plant died,this company does not stand behind their products they only offered to refund 50% which I consider quite unreasonable. I ordered 5 Clematis Jackmanii and received them in a few days. 4 of the 5 looked very healthy but the 5th one looked sickly. I was surprised they even shipped it because it looked so bad. I planted them all immediately hoping the sickly one would improve. Unfortunately, in less than 2 weeks it was dead and I contacted Garden Crossings with photos and asked for a replacement. Heidi from Garden Crossings issued me a refund stating I should leave it in the ground as she sees "a touch of green" - that's the twist tie holding up the dead plant! She refused to send me a replacement as I had requested because "the refund had already gone through". Having worked in retail, I know that refunds are not put through until the end of business day along with all the credit card purchases. Very disappointed in their customer service! read more

I guess I should have come here before ordering plants -- I ordered 5 plants -- planted them immediately by my gardner (not a handyman) -- and within 2 weeks the flowers were brown-- I submitted photos and they said yeah just trim the brown and flowers should grow back in your climate. Since I wrote the following review, I did get a lengthy response from an employee re my yelp review. First the good. I got an apology that my order that did not ship last week, and told that employees were given the choice to not work during this covid crisis, and informed that other employees are working 6 days a week. This is a very kind thing to do for your work family. However, poor communication is my issue with this company, and the less than stellar rating. The response, to me, felt somewhat hostile for my review. I am told that I did not get a message that orders were running late because I did not sign up for news letters, insinuating my fault that I did not receive the notice. I guess I thought that I would get communication about my order without having a newsletter. Also, he informed me that it is standard to charge cards at time of order. That may be correct in the plant business, but I never experienced it in other transactions. I stand corrected if this is the business standard. He gave me his personal example of paying for an amazon order, and not receiving for four weeks. For the reasons above, I have increased my rating. There were other points pointed out in the company response. I will not order from this company again. My decision is based on communication style. I am sure their product is good as per other reviews. initial post: I ordered plants to be delivered during the covid crisis. They understandably shipped over a week later than I was told. Until people complained, there was no communication with client. I paid in full on the day of order and heard nothing for 2.5 weeks. What I did get is a sob story about how busy they are due to the crisis, how short staffed they are, and a message to be patient during the crisis. I am patient, and kind, but they did not communicate with me until I threatened to file a dispute on the charge. Their phone box was full. Two points. 1) they are making a fortune because of a national crisis. I drove over 2 hours to shop at their nursery because I had heard about the quality and variety of their plants. It was well worth the drive. The plants were the best, and the customer service was even better. I would not hesitate to buy online from them, but I enjoyed the conversation with true gardening lovers that I will be back. I ordered a rose of Sharon from them last year. The plant they sent me looked like it had been run over by a lawn mower. When I called to let them know, they said that they had been pruned prior to shipping and to go ahead and plant it. If it did not survive the winter, they said they would replace it. It didn't make it, so I called. Heidi, the owner said they would give me a credit for it but that they would not cover the shipping of the replacement. The shipping was almost as much as the plant. Highly recommend! This was my first experience ordering from Garden Crossings but it won't be my last. Last year, I ordered my summer plants from a big-box store and this year my goal was to find a Michigan-owned business that would ship. Not only did my plants arrive in incredible condition (well packaged, healthy and intact), the customer service from Garden Crossings was incredible - possibly the best I've ever received when ordering something online. There were two random issues that I had and not only was Heidi REALLY quick to respond but she went out of her way to help me. I ordered 6 plants from them in March and received them in May. They were good for about a week and a half and then 4 of them died. I was told that they may turn yellow, but that they would come back. Most of them looked good on the day I got them. Got them in the ground that day. I sent photos of the dying plants but heard nothing in return. Heads up, I would not go this route again. No real guarantees or compromises. Like maybe they would send me one new plant. I would have been happy with a "meet me half way" thing. read more

Beautiful big fluffly clematis roguchi plants. Packing material didn't crush plants. Large stem of clematis looks to be at least 2 to 3 years old so it's a very strong plant. Very pleased. Will buy from again read more

I placed a large order spring 2014. I will say most of what I got was very nice. I feel they are a little expensive; and a clematis I received was terrible. It would not grow and looked awful all summer. I sent a note assuming I could get a replacement as these are quite expensive. I never received an acknowledgement back. If their warrant is not honored I would not order from them again. read more

Garden Crossings is absolutely just a beautiful garden center. Staff is very knowledgeable and very helpful. Phone calls are returned in a timely manner to answer all questions. Customer service is awesome! The planting event they hold in March is so much fun for our young grandsons. They love to choose the plants and then to actually plant them is so much fun. When they pick them up a few weeks later and see what they planted is now turning into a beautiful flower basket and seeing the smiles on their faces is priceless. read more
