This mini grocery was my father's favorite store because of a different variety of liquor including wine and beer. The liquor shelves were fully stocked and organized well. They also have fresh veggies and fruits. Also if you're looking for a good quality and local coffee Garden Gourmet has.  I bought four bottles of different kinds of wine and a dozen of beer that I will give to my father. He also asked me to buy him a Montrose because he hasn't tasted it yet. And I'm sure he loves it because the owner of the mini store described to me what it tastes like. Owner also recommended the Rose wine Underwood and I bought also this.  And also if you are looking to cater your party they have a service. One might wonder how does a market almost a block away compete with the Jewel grocery, but it does in so many ways. First when I walk in I do feel transported to a market that I might wander into Smyth travels. It has a little bit of everything along with quality products, and during a time like the pandemic one can appreciate it even more for all the clutch things you need. This store is very nice and, at the same time, very convenient. I do not live in or near this area, and how I wish I did. This small grocery store is amazing because it has a lot of wonderful products. First of all, the store is clean and bright. It may be small, but it was very clean inside. It also has a well-organized shelf. The layout here is so nice and everything is accessible. They also have a well-stocked selection of products. Even though it is small, it also has a variety of products, especially in their wines, produce, and other products. Second, their products, anything of a kind, are of good quality. When it comes to their produce, they offer a lot of organic products. Produce is also fresh, as is the meat, bread, and any other products that I have found inside. They also have different kinds of snacks, which, surprise, also have healthy options. They actually have a lot of healthy options on most of their products, which is really nice. Lastly, their prices are fair and reasonable, and their customer service is great. The staff are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the products. As for the prices, they are mostly very reasonable, but there are also some that are quite pricey, including the fine wines and other kinds of liquor they have. read more

It was seriously my first time to be here in Garden Gourmet Market and I regret I did not know this store sooner. It is just a small grocery store but there is a lot of goodies inside. Writ is clean, organized and fully stocked. Pretty much of what I usually buy in other big grocery stores around are in here. The staff inside was friendly and helpful. I was just amazed by their produce and liquor section. They have tons of stocks of craft beers and wines. They literally have real good brands and there was a lot to choose from. Their produce section on the other hand has a great selection too, it looks fresh and has a really nice quality. Their coffee selection is amazing too! I got a lot of goodies in here and I think from now on I would definitely going to be their regular customer. I had a really great experience in here. Woah! So impressed with this little neighborhood grocer. Great selection of wine and craft beer. I usually do my main grocery shopping elsewhere but this is the perfect place to pick up some spare produce that you may have forgotten or are unavailable at larger grocery stores. This is a nice little neighborhood market/bodega. Odd choice of location, but maybe thee rent was just that cheap. I don't live close enough to shop there, but if i did and i needed a late night frozen pizza, or an apple, or some chips, i would certainly stop in here. The owner was very friendly too. I don't do much food shopping here. I have bought a few produce items on my way home from work and I have always been satisfied with them! They also have a bigger selection of specialty items here that you can't get at a "normal" grocery store. I buy A LOT of alcohol here, though! They have an amazing craft beer and wine selection. They also have a small gourmet cheese section near the wine. This is the perfect place to stop before a get-together or dinner party. The employees have always been super helpful and courteous. What's not to love? The staff here is super friendly! They have the basics and then some including local coffees, breads, etc. The produce is generally fresh and priced well. Our neighborhood really, really needed a place like this and I am so glad this store has opened. In the last month I have been here many times already and I am really enjoying their selection of products. They have a caramel/cheese popcorn mix that is very addicting and only a couple of dollars a bag, yum! With excellent dairy/meat options in a convenient location, it's a preferable alternative to Jewel. The space is quite small, but they pack a lot of product in. There are gift options as well as standard grocery fare. Based on others' reviews and and experience of my own, I'd suggest a more thorough system for removal of expired items. All in all, this is a great small business, owned and operated by a small family, and we in Noble Square/Uk. Village/Wicker Park would do well to support them! read more

Stopped in here on my way back from a workout because I wanted a few avocados. I expected the prices to be high since it is a boutique grocery store. Instead, i was pleasantly surprised. Pretty low prices, all things considered, and all of the produce seemed fresh (sometimes the boutique groceries don't sell their produce as fast as big stores, so it sits around for longer). Garden Gourmet Market is a small grocery business but it has an excellent service. Although the store is small, it is clean and the shelves are well organized and fully stocked. The products have a nice quality and most of whatever I can find in some big grocery stores around are mostly also available in here. The prices are fair and reasonable and the staff in here is polite and helpful. They have an amazing selection of coffee, craft beers, and wines. After going in here I realized that it is better because the products are the same as well as the price to the other grocery stores around and it is a great thing. First time writing a review and Garden Gourmet is a great reason to start! The weekend before stay-at-home started due to Covid-19, grocery shopping was nightmare. The Jewel across the way and Mariano's on Chicago were out of everything. I needed spinach, a couple hearty green options and a nut milk and they had it all!! Organic options in stock too. Also, currently they are asking all customers to wash their hands in the back before shopping and I really appreciate that kind of safety and diligence. I love this place. I was skeptical when I first walked by thinking it would be an overpriced gourmet food market but it was actually affordable and their fresh produce was awesome. The employee working that day said they get fresh produce delivered about 3x a week so that's probably why it was so fresh and amazing. It's nice to know it's close by and of quality. read more

I used to live a few blocks away from this place a year ago. When it came time to move, a perk of my new place was that it was still walking distance from this market. The selection is awesome and unique- I have celiac and they have really great gluten-free/diet-friendly options. Can't even begin to explain their amazing alcohol selection. I am soooo happy to have this place nearby, since you can barely find anything organic in Jewel or any grocery store in the area. For a smaller place they have a fantastic selection of produce, fresh (real) bread, craft beer, wine, plus salsas, hummus, jelly, sauces, pasta, dressings, oils, seasonings, snacks, and some other essential living items you might need on the way. I was insanely excited to see a ton of kombucha there too! I live off that stuff. Couple things I reeeeally wish they had: more organic herbs and better labeling of organic fruits and veggies. (Rule of thumb - if the PLU code starts with a 4 or 3, it's not organic. If it starts with a 9, it's organic. They sometimes don't sort these.). They have a ton of conventionally grown herbs, but it's a must to have mine organic (esp cilantro and parsley since those are known to have most pesticides). I stopped in here today and was extremely impressed by the service and overall selection. Having lived in NYC for 10 years I'm drawn to small specialty and gourmet grocers like this charming one. The guy who manned the ship was not only very friendly and attentive but he also tolerated all of my annoying and asinine questions about beers (of which I know little about) gracefully. I have never been a beer drinker. It has taken me to my mid-30s to appreciate it and he made some recommendations which were not only right on the mark pertaining to my preferences, but what he sent me home with was also exactly as he described it to be. Great selection + excellent customer service = new favorite spot! Awesome selection of grocery staples, including produce, cheese, dry goods, etc. Excellent wine, beer, and liquor selection. They even have high quality coffee, tea, and Kombucha (both on tap and bottled!). Really fantastic offerings for a small, neighborhood store-- but we were even more impressed with the customer service. We picked up a bag of coffee beans and ground them in the store. When I got to the register, the guy checking out our items could tell I hadn't gotten all of the coffee and went back to the grinder and finished grinding the beans for me. Although there wasn't a ton of coffee left in the grinder, I really appreciated that he wanted us to get everything we were paying for and went out of his way to ensure that. I live around the corner from this place and ofter stop in to pick up a few items on my way home from work. The staff here is GREAT. They are always so friendly, and always make a point of asking if I have found everything okay. Most of their prices are very good, but on certain items they can be really expensive (i.e. a bottle of bleach was $3.79 when I could walk a block to the CVS and pay $1.99). But I understand that I am paying for convenience and I am usually okay with that. I read someone's comment about the produce, and I have to second that. The produce here is hit or miss. Definitely check it before you buy it. I have found a few rotten pieces here before, but on the other hand, I have also bought the best plums I have ever tasted here! So my advice is to check the produce before you purchase it, and maybe let the staff know if you found something rotten. read more
