I went to my regular grocery store and they were out of chives. Did a quick Google search and found this place within a short 5 minute drive. I walked in and was immediately impressed by the selection of fresh fruit and veggies. I immediately went back and grabbed a basket. As I went around the store, I noticed a lot of international foodstuffs and prepared foods. I was a little birdie with all the products, going down each and every aisle. Not only did I notice the selection of fresh meats and items, but everything was priced on the shelves. I wouldn't had to go ask how much is this once. Take note other grocery stores. I love that they carry local items from and around Chicago. Plus, I loved the selection of hot sauces. I will be coming back soon.

I absolutely love this store! It has a great sized produce selection. I can always find fresh produce here for a decent prize. It's not overwhelming and the produce is rotated regularly. In the aisles I can find the staples like pasta, rice, couscous, canned food, cereal, packaged teas, etc. They also have one aisle with Balkan, Greek, Mediterranean,Middle Eastern staples. I love this aisle. The have a wide dairy selection. One cooler is filled with cheeses where I can get Bulgarian or Greek feta, Mexican queso fresco and crema, etc. The rest of the dairy section is against the wall and here I can get the Zdan plain yogurt and phyllo dough. Over the years they have expanded their vegan section and they offer tofurky products, alternative milks, etc. They also have one aisle dedicated to various international sweets. I have found sweets imported from Italy, Turkey, Croatia, Bosnia, Poland, etc. They sell German Ritter Sport chocolates near the checkout stand. Overall I love the sweet snack offerings. The overall store vibe is always good. They play Greek music. The staff is usually approachable and willing to help if you need something. Check out is fast and efficient. There are never long lines. The parking is across the street though and is a bit inconvenient, but they have updated it. It used to be worse with no designations which way to drive in and out. It is still pretty small and can get crowded but at least people are no longer arguing with each other as to which way to drive in and out. I have been shopping here for 20+ years and have seen the store transform over the years. It attracts a good mix of customers from the neighborhood who walk here as well as people going out of their way to stop by and shop here. I hope they continue to do well and remain one of my favorite local grocery stores to shop at.

I put this on FB, so forgive the odd formatting. The pandemic has been so hard on so many of us. At times it's been hard to find touchstones for normalcy. For many of us in the Lincon Square/Albany Park/Ravenswood area, that his been made a little easier by HarvesTime Foods. I know they are already deeply loved (57 reviews on FB, all 5 stars!), but I had to say my piece. I first saw a mask at HarvesTime. First saw hand sanitizer stations at HarvesTime. First reasonably priced grocery pick up? HarvesTime. First Senior hours? HarvesTime. And now that they have taken down their CDC guidelines sign, everyone (employees and customers alike) are still wearing masks. To keep our community safe. This pandemic has been at least as hard on them as it has been on us and yet they are always smiling, providing perfectly cut taco meat and selling the only other dog food Eleanor will eat. We neighbors hear that Amazon Fresh may be moving in down the street. I am by no means anti-capitalist, I think competition is a good thing. I also think that Amazon would be making a significant mistake. It seems likely they assume HarvesTime is "just another produce store" that they will dominate. They are wrong. HarvesTime is our neighborhood gathering place, our United Nations, our touchstone. Block Club Chicago, how about a story? You won't be disappointed. NBC, how about a Making a Difference story? They certainly qualify. Thank you HarvesTime! You have never let us down and I am truly grateful for you! (All photos borrowed)

Out of desperation I stopped at HarvesTime. I was in need of bananas, was absolutely cranky because of traffic and really needed bananas. The thought of going to Jewel or Marino's with the traffic was out of the question as I could not muster the testicular fortitude to go pass Ashland in traffic. I have passed this place many times, but had no idea what to expect. Have to say I was pleasantly surprised at the selection. The produced looked amazing, but the prices were all over the place. Some items were priced reasonably, but others were way over the top. Green grapes, which I adore, were $3.99, a dollar more than Jewel or Marino's. The bananas, which I was so desperately in need of, were $0.69. Money tends to be no object for me for some things: spent $17 on green grapes, but could not wrap my mind around the price for the bananas. That is similar to Targete charging $0.59 for a single banana. Nope, nope and nope. Now what I did like was the meat section. Great looking fresh and frozen meats and the prices were very good. They even had frozen rabbits, so I know where to go when I want some. There was a nice selection of Boar's Head meats and cheeses...love that brand. Fresh baked breads and desserts that looked tasty. There was a nice selection of prepared foods...entire meals, salads, soups, etc. There were homemade soups as well Panera brand. Nice selection of ethnic foods, some with labels in the language of origin of the country, but the store was smart and placed them next to the similar items for those of us that were not able to read the labels. The one thing I did not get but want to try was yogurt with fruit on top in glass containers. That was a first for me and it looked intriguing. I will stop there just to buy those beauties. There were also these ginormous bags of rice...reminded me of the days when I would go rice shopping (yes you heard right) with my Filipino GF. She would cook rice every day in these rice cookers and routinely bought these big ass bags of rice. Until I met her, I had no idea rice came in bags bigger than 2 lbs. So for those that are looking for big bags o' rice, this is your place. There is a parking lot across the street from the store, but they need to put up a sign that says you can't take them out of the store. As I loaded up my Marino containers in mine to roll across the street (four of them), the cashier stopped me to let me know that I could not. To their credit, they did offer to help me to my car. Just know if you are loaded down with a lot of groceries and parked across the street, you will need help loading your purchases. There is diagonal parking on the side of the store, but good luck getting those as there are only a few of them. Even though I did not get the bananas, which was the whole reason for stopping in there, I did like what I saw while looking around. I would say again to be aware of the prices. Some are amazing, but some are very high, like Whole Foods high.

Who doesn't want to go to a place containing the word "harvest?" It's a full-sized grocery store located in Lincoln Square. I'm a grocery junkie, and I eat at least ten (10) apples per week (definitely not a forbidden fruit to me, for my name is not Eve). I'm never worried if I've had enough fibers today because I'm confident that I've had plenty in my stomach. With that being said, I appreciate great stores who can satisfy my needs for fresh produce, and perhaps other "junkier" food I would have every once in awhile. I've noticed the high-rating reviews on yelp and decided to pay a visit myself. Of course, hubby tagged along so that I could rely on him to carry the bags. This place has a standardized signage for pricing, and most of the signs were either typed or hand-written very legibly. Why would I care about how neatly the signs were presented? Don't under-estimate the power of those little details; they can potentially elevate a customer's shopping experience. At least mine was very pleasant. Hubby and I also saw some other items that we normally can't find in other grocery stores. He was quite excited when he spotted dandelion! I found their agricultural products very fresh. While they didn't have "door buster" kind of specials, their prices were still competitive and worth to take a peek. In addition, their hot-food and meat departments also appeared clean and inviting. I don't usually fix meat or other poultry items at home, but the refrigerators containing these items were well-maintained. I found no "meat-water" drips on the hardware or floors. They did have some ethnic products. I found some Turkish tea and was tempted to purchase it. Thirsty? Grab a can of Inca cola. I'm in love with Inca Cola, and I sometimes get a two (2)-liter size. However, you have an option to purchase a can for $0.99. Overall, we spent a little more than $24 for two (2) bags of salsa chips, a bag of brown rice, apples, two (2) cases of blueberries, two (2) cases of raspberries, green seedless grapes, tomatoes, one (1) bunch of green onions, avocados, and one (2) dozen of jumbo eggs. I hope I didn't miss listing anything else. Anyways, you get the picture. HarvesTime is also accessible by the CTA 81 (Lawrence) bus. The stop to get off is Washtenaw. I recently have reviewed the Lindo Michoacan, located on Kedzie and Lawrence. Do yourself a favor: travel further east to HarvesTime for better quality items. Trust me on that!

We ordered the brisket, baked beans , and ribs. The brisket was juicy and tender. It was delicious!!!! I do wish it was more hot temperature wise. The brisket got cold quick. The ribs were my favorite! I wish we got three orders of them. They were perfectly tender filled with flavor. The char on them had the perfect smoky touch. The baked beans were delicious, they weren't too sweet but they were filled with a slight sweet note that I believe comes from the pork bits in it. So good! We enjoyed our food with the spicy barbecue sauce. I highly recommend that barbecue sauce! Total we spent for all that was around $55. To drink I had the bourbon sweet tea. The bartender was a bit rude. I feel like my drink could've been made with more love but it did the job. My drink costed about $17 I will be coming here again. There was ample enough seating. It's beautiful coming here at night. From the scenery inside you'll feel like you're in a movie. This experience fully blew my mind.

My favorite BBQ spot in Chicago!…read more I've been to Green Street Smoked Meats a few times now, and at this point I basically know what I'm getting before I even walk in. The prime sliced brisket is sooo good and the reason I keep coming back. It's smoky, juicy, super tender, and has that perfect fatty edge when you get a good slice. Sometimes they'll give you burnt ends, and wow, that is THE best piece. So much smoky, umami flavor packed into one bite. Definitely grab some sliced bread at the counter and a few cups of sauce. I love making little brisket sandwiches as I go and switching between the sauces. I tried the pulled pork sandwich once and really liked it! I also have to mention the elote and cornbread because I get them almost every time. The elote is creamy, a little spicy, and goes so well with all that smoky meat. The cornbread is sweet, soft, and perfect alongside the brisket. The service is always really nice. Everyone behind the counter is friendly while you're ordering and they're weighing out the meat, and then after you pay it's self-service. The whole setup is awesome. There's a big open indoor seating area that kind of reminds me of a food hall, with drinks, a coffee shop inside, and big screens where they sometimes have sports on. When the weather is nice, sitting outside is even better. That whole little area around Green Street with the other restaurants nearby has such a good vibe. I've been three different times and somehow my tray ends up looking almost identical every visit, which says everything you need to know. The brisket, elote, and cornbread have basically become my order at this point. Easily my go-to when I'm craving BBQ in Chicago.

We ordered the steak fajitas that came with beans, tortillas, and a little side of guac. The tortillas are apparently handmade and fresh, but I was a bigger fan of the corn ones instead of the flour ones. Both still very good though! We also got the shrimp skewers, and it paired so well with the free chips and salsa they gave us. I'm not a huge fan of bell peppers, but they made them so flavorful and tasty here that I couldn't stop eating them. The service was great with the servers and busboys since they brought out the chips/salsa right away and made sure our waters and drinks were always full. The only flaw I have for the place was that we waited nearly 40 minutes even though we put our name and phone number down in the front. The host claims she called us but might of dialed the wrong number, so it was a little bit of a bummer to have to come back and check in when we could have been seated earlier. However, one of the managers stopped by our table to ask how our food was and packed up our food for us at the end. The ambiance was very packed and lively in there! There were so many people celebrating birthdays that they would have signs and cake and even sing to you for your special day. It's BYOB, so there was a lot of people making their own drinks. Additionally, I'd make sure you have cash since it's a cash only place. I definitely want to come back again and recommend it to others; however, you better be prepared for delicious food and an exciting environment!!
