The French onion soup and escargot were decent (nothing special) but the sea bass tasted off and later that evening, my husband didn't feel so well. There are QR code menus on the table but they are only in French and do not contain a drink menu. We were given paper menus with English descriptions and drinks at our request. To drum up the ol' appetite, GF started with an old fashioned and I one of the selections from the drink menu, the bonne maman which may be a real drink but nothing I have ever heard of prior. Looking it up, it is a French jam. It may or may not be what I ordered but it was perhaps a touch too sweet but at least it went down easily. For the solids, I ordered a vegetarian salad with a bunch of veggies and a very light, freshing sauce over a bed of quinoa. Other than the onions, this was very tasty and I didn't hate myself after eating it. I just may shit this week because of this meal in between all of the cheese (of which you are about to get a glimpse) and pastries. GF ordered the croque monsieur which comes with fries and a salad. As a vegetarian, I did could only sample a small corner of the sandwich that did not have a slice of ham and it was INCREDIBLE. The bread was toasty but that cheese combo on the bread was heaven. The fries were also pleasantly crispy. We haven't been absolutely bathing in cheese yet on this trip so we ordered their cheese plate and, as GF put it, "they really cleaned out their fridge for us". I have never seen a cheese plate like this before. It was a straight up plate entirely covered in different cheeses. It was so much cheese we couldn't finish it but don't think we didn't try. The cheese was amazing, it was a really nice variety of hard and soft cheeses and went excellently with the French bread with which it was served. A random man, about our millennial age, came up to us and literally asked us for a small piece of the bread from our bowl. It was strange and if this means something, please fill me in. Since it was cold outside I went with the ultimate winter cocktail of "Irish Coffee" (6.90). Served warm, and with a stir the heavy whipped cream into the whiskey to sweetened it up, it kept me relaxed with my meal. "Gratinee Oignon" (8.50). I'm a fan of French onion soups and the way they make it here didn't disappoint, it was comforting. I really like the caramelized onions within the flavorful broth, and the melted golden brown cheese on the top was pretty good. "Croque Parisien" (14.00). I've probably had something similar to this, but this here was like having ham and cheese sandwich on steroids, it's pretty thick between the loafs of bread. It's topped with lots of arugula and gives it some bitterness. Overall, this Croque will keep you full. Their menu is in French, and our waitress was helpful in describing what the items are in English. They do have a kids meal as well. WiFi is free here, however only they put in their secret password in your phone for you, to ensure its not a free for all around the restaurant. If you need a random stop to eat, Le Parisien is it.

Foi gras: It was such a chunky portion. It was thick and pretty hard to spread. And as such, the thing that could have made it better was if it was at room temperature. It was just a tad too cold and wouldn't spread too well on the toast. It was also really hard to really enjoy its full flavors. Also, the toast was more like it was on its way to being a crouton. The side of sauteed onions was also a very interesting accompaniment. French onion soup gratinated: This was the most flavorful thing in the world. We learned later that with the words "gratinated," it makes it a more authentic version with the cheese and bread atop of the soup versus just having onion soup. The Cantal cheese and how it crisped and infused with the bread was amazing. And the broth was also stupid crazy with flavor. The hubs was just wowed away when he sampled this. Beef tartare: There was a generous portion of the beef tartare. It was fresh in a way. It sort of looked like a pile of raw beef which technically it was. I enjoyed it, but the hubs really enjoyed this pick. The French fries and salad were so so sides. An interesting thing to serve alongside beer tartare IMO. I guess it's the French way! The food overall was good. Service was great. There was a good variety of food choices. There were plenty of lunch options to choose from that's a pretty good deal.

The price for this giant steak with fries was around 22 euros which is an amazing deal! Fish fillet with zucchini gratin: one of the daily specials! Came with a thin and flaky grilled fillet of a white fish topped with a little bit of pesto, and a really nice crispy skin. The side was zucchini gratin which consisted of thin slices of zucchini and a thick, creamy cheese sauce. I used some of the table bread to eat with the gratin and it was beautiful. Also a really good price for the portion size. Was around 17 euros. Chocolate mousse: super creamy and delicious! Perfect amount of sweetness. Came very cool and felt like eating a refreshing cloud of rich, fluffy chocolate. Would recommend. Probably one of my favorite places that I have found during this trip. It is in a less touristy area so it has more of a community feel (regulars were making conversation with the workers, customers would recognize each other and say hello, mostly everyone is French speaking, etc) plus the prices are really some of the lowest I've seen for the amount/quality of food you get.
