This maze was right by the carverns, has additional fee about beside the carverns. This maze is fun for the kids is look for challenge. I love the greenery around maze is such fun, maze has small statues to take pictures with, flower statues, water fountain. The maze take about 30-45 small children definitely need to be accompanied by an adult. The view on top of the maze is beautiful. The place has friendly staff once you enter the maze.

This was a fun small adventure for us and kids. We enjoyed it. 27$ for four people. Kids loved it.

The idea of the Garden Maze at Luray is kind of bizarre if you think about it. I wish I could have been in on the meeting to see what possessed the powers that be to put in an English style garden maze with eight foot tall shrubbery right smack dab in the middle of no man's land Virginia. The maze idea in and of itself screams serious cheese let alone with you combine it with Luray's campus of activities because now you're talking a melt. Others have explained the maze well enough that I'm not going to beat a dead horse except to say that quite honestly if you're only there for a short time/if you had to choose either the cavern or the maze you should pick the maze. Price wise it's still a ripoff but at least it's fun, it's not cattle herd rushed like the cavern tour is and if you want you can go around as many times as you need to scratch that garden maze itch (although why you would want to do it more than once is beyond me). The only point that I will disagree on is the whole forty-five minute thing that I see a lot of other Yelpers saying is how long it took them because honestly, how did that happen? I suppose if you're trying to map out every shrub, nook, cranny and crevice then I get it but if you're just trying to find the four "goal points" along with getting out it should take you tops thirty minutes. Either way it was fun to do once and if you're on vacation it'll go down as one of those kitschy things that are neat to say that you've seen/done because you could/it was there. If you go: The Garden Maze is open daily starting in March until (I don't know as I've seen different times) either September or October starting at 10:30 until either 5:15 or 6:15. They also are open in the winter of certain weekends only so it would be wise to call or hit them up on FB if you intend to come at that time. The price is $9 for adults and $7 for ages 6-12 with 5 and under being free. As others have mentioned, you can save a dollar per person on admission if you buy the maze tickets in conjunction with cavern tickets at the main cavern entrance. If you go to the maze entrance and buy tickets ala carte or if you come just for the maze there is no discount. Of course the website for the Garden Maze itself explains none of this as this information is stated only on the website for the cavern.

This was FUN! I think it was $8 or $9 to do. Worth it! Running around the maze getting lost, looking at clues only to get stumped! Like The Shining Maze without the horror! HA! It's pretty cool! It was raining earlier but stopped. They lend out umbrellas free of charge, which is a nice touch and you scout around the maze getting stamps which at the end you can redeem for a $1 off items in their souvenir shop. DO IT!!!!! Roughly 20 minutes to complete, did this with adults and kids of our friends. GOOD TIMES!

Great place with great views!…read more Pop "Woodstock Tower" into Google Maps, and it will take you to the right spot (Apple Maps only took me to the trailhead a distance away). This will put you near a little overlook off the dirt road or if you keep going, a small gravel parking lot. Be prepared to drive on dirt and gravel roads for over a mile to get here; you are going the right way! This end of the trail has a clearly marked sign saying it is the Woodstock Tower. From either of those parking lots it's only about ¼ mile walk to get to the tower. The path varies from rocky to flat dirt. Loads of hickory nuts line the path. You could also come from the other end of the trail, which is over a mile away in the other direction. The climb up is steep but manageable (I'd recommend being more careful descending!) with metal steps. Considering she's still standing 90 years after her construction, I'd say the tower is stable. Hats off to the Civilian Conservation Corps for building this lasting landmark! The views from the top are great and worth the short walk and short climb. I met a local man at the top who shoots a lot of videos from up there. He did warn that sometimes there are black bears in the area; I never saw one my whole time, but just keep alert. It was a little cold on the mid-October day we were there and the top of the mountain did mean lots of cross wind, so dress appropriately. Unless you're weird about heights (apologies to my wife; thanks for walking out to it with us, Baby), this is a worthwhile visit. Definitely recommend!

The building is not much to look at from the outside, but it is super clean inside and the bathrooms are spotless. We started with the House Chips as an appetizer, because it looked different and interesting. I'm a sucker for garlic knots and a Caprese, but we were up for trying something different. The menu says "house made chips, specialty sauce, mozzarella and Parmesan cheese," so we were thinking maybe an Italian style nachos maybe? It wasn't that at all. I'm not sure what the specialty sauce is? I'm guessing some kind of really mild queso. Whatever it is, it was tasty and definitely tasty. The house made chips did NOT disappoint. At first with the top layer, I was thinking it was lacking a little seasoning, but the more you got into it, the more it shined. Still unsure what made it up, but it was good. Check out the photos. Then we ordered a large extra cheese pizza. Wow!! These people understand extra cheese! First the cheese was abundant. So much cheese (which is exactly the way we like it)! Here's where other places get it wrong. They cook the pizza the "regular" time, without considering the extra ingredient on top, so it comes out undercooked and/or soggy. Not here!!! It was so yummy! Done to perfection. I didn't take a pic, but I finished my meal off with a scoop of espresso chocolate chip ice cream. Oh so satisfying! Our server was amazing! Friendly, her timing was fantastic and she was just super nice! We would definitely stop here for pizza again when in the area. And yes - try the House Chips. They are really different, but totally worth it.

Most of Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson was buried in a Lexington, Virginia, cemetery that now…read morebears his name, but he was so famous at the time of his death that his amputated left arm was spirited away to its own separate grave. It was just after dark on May 2, 1863. Jackson had just launched a devastating attack against Union forces at Chancellorsville. Returning to his own lines with several staff officers, Jackson, ever the aggressive soldier, decided to conduct reconnaissance in the area. As he and his staff rode through the woods near Confederate lines, a North Carolina regiment, unable to see who was riding up on them, opened fire. Jackson was struck by three bullets, two of them shattering his left arm. The general was evacuated from the area and given medical treatment, but the arm couldn't be saved and was amputated. Pneumonia set in, and on May 10, 1863, the South lost its most effective tacticia. Thinking that the limb of so great a solider was too precious to simply throw on the regular body part trash pile, Jackson's unofficial company chaplain, Reverend Tucker Lacy wrapped the arm in a blanket and took it to his family cemetery. The reverend gave the limb a standard Christian burial and placed a marker above the site. Supposedly Stonewall Jackson's arm was dug up and reburied numerous times in the ensuing years and there is no concrete evidence that it still resides in its original burial space, but the simple gravestone remains.

"Jackson has lost his left arm, but I have lost my right"…read more -General Robert E. Lee Jackson's last words were apparently, "Let us cross over the river and rest in the shade of the trees." It seems like a lot of words for a dying man. If, however there is truth in this story, then the resting place of this limb seems fitting. The lone tombstone sits quietly among a small group of trees on the Virginia countryside. The picturesque views were once covered by war field hospitals and now is the resting place of the left arm of one of America's most famous Generals. A little history: Stonewall Jackson's arm was destined to be buried along with other amputated limbs until Jackson's Chaplain, Reverend Lacy, retrieved it from a macabre pile of appendages and eventually buried it on his own plantation, Ellwood Manor. The limb was buried several days before Jackson's death as a way for his staff to pay tribute to the man that they had followed through battle. It's probably the least they could do considering that his own men accidentally shot him. I'm just sayin'. The story of a buried arm is surreal, but a little research makes the story a little more humane. Even if Jackson fought on the wrong side of history, every body (or body part) should be so lucky to be buried in a place so serene. Verdict: Great for Civil War buffs, the curious and people spending a little time in nearby Old Town Fredricksberg. Or Cross it off your Weird Virginia (book) list. Weird tidbits: The arm has been dug up a few times in the past, but has always made it's way back into the ground. It seems that the curious return it to it's resting place after learning that there REALLY is an arm buried in the ground. FYI: The last time I attempted a visit, the grounds were closed contrary to the information found on the website. If in doubt, it's best to call.

Lots of entertaining participants in the parade: The Battlefield HS Marching Band, cheerleaders, several local dance troops, several martial arts groups, the Fairfax County Police motorcycle officers (in precision formations), Cub/Boy Scouts, musical groups, local politicians, church groups, civic groups, local businesses, the Geico Gecko, the Chik-fil-A cows, Santa Claus, and a lot more! The parade was considerably longer with more participants than ever. There is also a large vendor area in front of Town Hall and down Washington Street with lots of vendors of all sorts, arts and crafts, games, food and beverages, stages with music, and a lot more! The weather was perfect, cool and overcast, no rain, the place was packed with local residents.
