This place is just okay. It's lagging behind some of its competitors at the moment. The system, GTS, is cool where the golf ball auto loads onto the tee. But the quality of the golf balls are really low, the graphics aren't great, and again, I don't trust the data all the time. Bare bones inside which I don't mind.

After some research, I thought @GolfHouse would be a great first experience for him since they offer junior coaching and it's similar to a video game. When I emailed them with questions, they were the most quick and complete in response than any of the other Ashburn area courses. At this point we're 3 sessions in. Coach Ju Hee is very professional and confident, but has just the right style to keep my 10 year old engaged. In each session she has walked the line effectively between correcting swing issues and helping him understand how the game works, while also keeping it fun and engaging for him, which is probably the most important part at this point. The sessions involved 30 minutes of instruction and 30 minutes of free time in the bay which I'll sometimes use to take a few swings with my son. So far, this seems to be the right mix. Coach also shared the before/after swing photo I posted from session 2. While I'm not sure if other local coaches have this type of tech, I think this is a significant advantage because of the real-time feedback and insight it gives her into exactly what is happening. It's also great for us to see the progress he's making. Overall, I definitely would recommend @GolfHouse and Coach Ju Hee for lessons. At some point I'll probably book a bay with some of my friends who are more serious golfers during a lesson and see what they think about it.

This was a beautiful course with a nice club-house and driving range/practice green. There aren't…read moremany water hazards, so play is kind of strait forward, great for people learning! They were hosting a junior championship and did not do a very good job of marshaling the pace and should have never offered play to normal customers on such a horrifically busy day for the course. We got through 18 holes in about 6.5 hours with most people along the way just giving up on the wait... To be fair when we arrived they noted a slight delay in play time due to the junior tourney but not a staggering halt...They were kind enough to give us a free ticket to come back without us even saying anything, but honestly, they should never have sold t-times knowing how bad it could be.

The rough needs to be mowed 5 inches is a bit much and it would certainly speed up play, because most average golfers can't find their balls in the rough. Secondly while I understand this is a municipal course golf etiquette is a must anywhere you play, if they had a ranger managing the course the pace of play would be suitable. This was not the case since the foursome in front of us had at least 3 open holes in front of them and would not let the faster players (a twosome) to play through. This held up the entire course, making it 4.5-hour round for two people to play. I just can't do it again for the price they charge!!!

It was really nice that each cart had a GPS map, a little cooler for drinks and you could order on there. Some of the green was muddy but only a couple of pockets. The terrain seemed like a nice challenge as there were hills, sand pockets and bushes. It was interesting to have to go across streets and see so many homes along the path but what can you do. My only feedback would be that after ordering food it took a very long time for them to get to us and we were almost finished by that time. Oh, and also the cart girl was friendly! All in all, I would definitely come back for a day outside at this golf course.

Half the tee boxes are dirt with splotches of grass, and many of the greens the same. Some greens recently had 5 foot wide tracks of mud running the entirety of the surface. The pace of play is also NOTORIOUSLY slow. Expect to play 5-6 hour rounds, with no help from Marshals. Now they want to shorten the course and build high-density housing on it to get some ROI for their investors. How about actually taking care of the course to generate more revenue!? Sell the damn thing to someone who cares!
