She had me lay on a rickety fold out table that I was afraid would collapse any minute with me on it. I have knee issues so that position was very uncomfortable. Ended up putting my leg up on a chair so she could finish. The tattoo itself was a mess. I actually just recently started the process of covering it with a different artist in Colorado. It was supposed to be derived from a beautiful flash piece they had out (a snake with some flowers). Despite the printers/scanners for the convention being close to their booth, Sara decided to freehand the design because I asked whether we could do it a bit bigger so it would look better in the area. When I expressed my concern, having never had a freehanded tattoo done, I was assured that "Sara is the best freehander we have" (said to me by another artist at the booth). Should have trusted my gut. The finished freehand was a lot bigger than I had imagined or described, but I had already been there about an hour already and the size wasn't terrible, so I gave the go ahead. I noticed that the design wasn't exact with the flash, especially concerning the coils of the snake (snake positioned behind/between the flowers) which did not seem to flow from behind the design and connect in a cohesive manner. I was again assured that she would fix that during the session and it would look just like the flash. Well, everyone was wrong. The coils do not match up which is a HUGE issue for me, the flowers and other "greenery" look wonky, none of the proportions were correct, etc. This wasn't even a full tattoo, just an outline. I had even said I liked and wanted delicate lines (like was shown in the flash) and she did the whole thing in thick, black strokes. I was so tired from the hours spent being tattooed plus insanely upset about being LIED TO and now I was out $400! FOR AN OUTLINE. PLUS TIP. I didn't know what to do so I just said thank and left as there was nothing they really could have done at the time to fix it. I have called multiple times and been told EVERY TIME that someone would get back to me. They NEVER got back to me, I had to keep following up. I was promised e-mails and calls that did not come. Refused any kind of refund. Offered to have me travel to their shop so they could "look at it and see what they could do." I lived in Virginia at the time and soon after moved to Colorado so that wasn't very feasible either. Moral of the story I guess is be VERY careful about who you let tattoo you and how, especially at conventions! I no longer let anyone freehand on me except for one or two TRUSTED individuals. The tattoo I received from Sara at Jersey Ink was structurally a mess, aesthetically awful, and OUTRAGEOUSLY overpriced! It will take even more money, time, and pain to look alright and I don't know if I'll ever get the coils to line up correctly. It's sad because the flash was absolutely beautiful and I would have been proud to have that on my body. If this is an example of the work Jersey Ink provides, then my recommendation is a resounding DON'T.

This place had a promotion over Friday the 13th weekend for both tattoos and piercings. I went in…read morefor a piercing and a friend for a tattoo and per their instagram post, the piercings were $25. They had a maximum of 4 piercings but no minimums. When I asked for the total they wanted to charge $50 total for one (not including their mandatory tip) and then when confronted about their instagram post and their rules - they said that's how they've been operating this weekend. Misleading and upsetting. Besides placing a "mandatory" tip, this leaves a bad taste in your mouth and makes you not want to come back ever again. If it's mandatory... it's not a tip. The whole concept of a tip is based off of the piercer's performance. I ended up getting another to meet the "minimum" to attain the piercing at the advertised price ($25) but the piercer, Hosco, was already acting differently (negatively) once called out with his boss regarding the pricing and their post. (Attaching said post, which is now deleted, here.) Something that was supposed to be fun turned into feeling like you got scammed. $25 for both, $50. Then the "mandatory" tip of $7 for both, $14. Total of $64. Oh and if you don't leave a tip in addition the mandatory tip, you get stink eye. Don't even get me started on the up charge on tattoos and ink versus colored ink. This place is dishonest, the management is not well versed in English (not a problem, but he forgets that other people can understand Spanish and his conversations about upcharging customers are understood by Spanish speakers). The piercer, Hosco Mod (@hoscotattoo), helps conflate review ratings by leaving a 5 star rating for his own services...very shady business practices!

When we arrived at the store, we noticed there were 2 associates assisting customers...so we waited. After about 10 mins, the male associate asked another female associate, (whom we never even saw as she was sitting so low to the floor (under the displays/ registers) to assist us. When I noticed her, she was on her phone and she never replied to the male associate and she never got up to assist us. The second time, he mentioned to her to assist us, she came over very rudely...Sophia (the very rude associate) never spoke and she wasn't friendly at all. As she approached me I told her I had a return, she very nastily says, "Are you exchanging?" Again, I say, "I have a return". She snatched the receipt from the counter and proceeds to return the item. Due to the register being in the middle, Sophia would have liked me to come closer to where she was but instead of her politely asking could I come around, she said, "You need to come over here"...I couldn't believe how rude she was so I stayed where I was. She rudely, muffled again..."You need to move over here" In return, I said, "A please and thank you would be nice". My wife noticed how rude and nasty Sophia was being so she moved around to make things easier...I followed my wife. The transaction was barely over before another female associate came over and asked that we excuse (Sophia) her attitude. I told her (I don't have her name but she was very helpful) that I didn't have to excuse Sophia's rude, nasty, obnoxious behavior as this was her job and she should be providing excellent customer service. Especially since I was not rude, nasty, disrespectful or anything else that warranted her attitude. Sophia even while at work, representing Piercing Pagoda verbally went back and forth with us about how shes not going to give respect to anyone, etc. She should be ashamed of herself. I hope this is not the behavior that this company accepts. Sophia is a horrible representation of Customer Service...I'd hope in the very near future if she continues to be the face of any company that she first goes through the proper diversity and customer service training.
