The shed was delivered and it looked great, but there was a minor issue with the exterior trim. We had a miscommunication regarding how far around the board and batten would go, given ventilation for firewood. We requested that a few extra trim boards be added to make it the more symmetric look we had envisioned and thought to be the design. Jamaica Cottage team proved to be very responsive. So this time, not so much. Fran out and out lied about a 'floor model' being 'exactly' like a new one. She didn't mention the warping or the dirt. Trying to get it delivered was a joy... not. The first one was sent on a mule. Fit right into place. This one was sent on a flat bed with a driver who clearly had difficulties. We drove onto our lawn, in the rain and made huge ruts. Halfway to position he said he won't go any further unless I sign a release against his damaging the lawn. Interesting since that ship has already sailed. So we killed an hour working this out. He couldn't get the truck out with the shed on it but wouldn't take it off. Fran (our fav to be sure) tried to sell us a shelf that would not fit in the building. She sold us an extra door as we asked but after delivery they said installing it would void the warrantee! And of course our 'same as a new floor model' shed had no warrantee because it was a floor model. Not once, ever, did Fran mention that. We are adults here. We buy floor models and scratch and dents all the time. Always at a discount. Always with a warrantee and always as described. This shed was NOTHING like a new shed and they refused to make any allowances in price at time of sale, and afterward made an obscenely small one for the grief. (Which they originally presented as a one year credit only towards future purchase.) Save your sanity. Don't shop here.

The lot was very busy when we went to explore our options at Jamaica Cottage Shop Inc.  I don't…read morelike the car buying Expereince when the sales people ask if you have any questions every five minutes. However I would have appreciated somebody offering us a bit of guidance, we roamed the lot for almost two hours. A very nice man driving a huge forklift pointed out some cottages and sheds we had not yet noticed, that was helpful. When my partner and I had written down all we could from the hang tags on the various floor models and special orders displayed around the lot we settled on a small shed for our first purchase. This was to be our new Boat House.  We also decided on a two car garage with attached work room, barn style, and a large tiny house to be placed on a near by lake for our follow up purchases.  We wanted to experience the Jamaica Cottage quality and customer service before getting in too deep. These folks were exceptional every step of the way.  The sales team were good.  The follow up emails were good.  The final shed/boat house was amazing. Perhaps the best part was the man who delivered our first building.  As suggested we had a bunch of sand delivered and we spread it to be the base for the building.  When the shed got to our home the delivery guy spent an hour smoothing and raking the sand, laying down concrete blocks, then another half hour leveling the building with shims.  He was polite, efficient, and professional.  I am so embarrassed that I didn't get his name.  We will be continuing a loyal relationship with Jamaica Cottages for our next three major projects without hesitation.
