His description of the Normandy countryside, the beaches, and battles began when departing Bayeux and concluded when we returned. He polled our group to assess our knowledge of WWII D-Day events and anwered all questions put to him (and once paused to research his reply.) We highly recommend both Louis and Overlord Tours.

He knows the area, is well versed in the background information that accompanies many of the stories, and his disposition (and English) are excellent. Like many people, I've read extensively about WW2, and am versed in the related pop culture.. Band of Brothers, Saving Private Ryan, The Longest Day, etc. So is Pierre. He's on the money with all his facts, understanding of key landmarks, and even the factual events that made their way into various movies as anecdotes or scenes. I'd do a tour with Pierre at HQ Company Tours again in a heartbeat. And if you're wondering if it's worth it, DO THE TOUR. You can read all the books in the world, but you'll never really get it until you see the bunkers, and the 88 mm guns that raked the entire beach. The cemetery is a must for every American to see. There's no better reminder about why we enjoy freedom, than to see the thousands of white crosses and Stars of David. Hallowed ground. Take the tour, use Pierre at HQ Company Tour. The company set us up with tickets to get from Paris to Bayeux and from there saw Omaha Beach, Utah Beach, Sainte-Mère-Église and Pointe Du Hoc. Chloe was very knowledge and friendly, and left us a perfect amount of time at each stop to see the airborne museum, eat lunch, get our pictures and really just soak up each experience. Flavie was a wonderful guide, with excellent English and a natural ability to keep the tour engaging and personal. Stayed at the Trumble chateau 3 nights with great food. Ben Trumble is a real student of D-day and WWII. We visited sites where he showed us pictures of GIs taken there on D-day. You can see the corresponding landmarks today and truly stand in the footsteps of heroes. Finally a visit to the cemetery where we saw the graves of several of the soldiers whose exploits we had been following. I can not imagine a better tour with anyone more knowledgable than Ben. Staying in the restored chateau with great modern accommodations and food just topped it off. 2014 will be the 70th anniversary of D-day and the last time any of the veterans will still be around for a 10-year anniversary. Both were pretty decent. The caravan has a good living space with kitchen, a number of good bedrooms as well as a nice deck. It helped we had a dishwasher and a washing machine in the caravan. Don't bother about the TV. It is only French channels and the Google Chromecast doesn't work with the WiFi that you can buy. The bar is nice and the restaurant serves decent food. All in all a very pleasant stay for our purposes.

I did not like the coffee machine press buttons to high tech. I do not like leaving a negative review but I really think this place earned it. I've stayed in better hotel 6s.
