7:00 PM: Placed an order online for a highly sought after bottle ($249 with tax). 7:09 PM: Received an email saying my order got declined...due to "insufficient stock on hand". 7:10 PM: Called the store; spoke with Nick (I think he is an Assistance GM) who told me that he declined it by accident. So he had me reprocess the order ($249 with tax) and assured me that he had it in stock and that if I provide my address, he will have it delivered to me. Told him that I will pick it up myself instead. 8:25 PM: Received an email saying my order (which was confirmed by Nick & was even ready to deliver the bottle to me) got declined....due to "insufficient stock on hand" 8:26 PM: Called the store back; this time I got connected to the GM. He first said that they do not have any in stock. Then when I pushed back with what the other manager (Nick) had told me, he put me on hold only to came back with a slightly different way to tell me that they do not have it in stock. As far as I am concerned, this looks, sounds, smells like GMs holding inventory for their friends/families which is completely bogus. If you have zero intentions of selling items to your customers, then do not put them on your website for purchase. I have been a loyal customer of Garfield's for over a decade and unlike couple of their other locations, this one in Norridge seems to employ shady managers who blatantly lie to their paying customers. We worked with Garfields for our wedding day order and it was a breeze! We filled out the form online and communication with them through email was very smooth. After sending in an initial order, they gave us pointers on how many we should order and of what which was really helpful. Any items they didn't have, they communicated with us quickly too and offered substitution choices too. Delivery to our venue had no issues and they also pick up all the leftovers at the end of the night. To speak on their efficiency, the very following Monday after our wedding, that emailed us about our refund and what leftovers we had. Any items that were not opened was refunded back to us and any items that were open/chilled/damage, they set aside in the back of their store so we could pick it up from them after the wedding which was great! We used Garfield's as our wedding alcohol provider and we are so happy we did! Danie was always so fast to respond to my emails and handled my plethora of questions so professionally! We really wanted to have a specific brand of mead at our wedding, which caused a lot of back and forth when picking a particular flavor, but they were able to get it from one of their suppliers, and it was a hit! I never heard anything about delivery or end of night pick-up being a problem, so I can only assume it went smoothly! Tim reimbursed us for all of our unopened alcohol within days. In my years of using Yelp to find places to eat when I travel for work and excellent service providers of all kind, I have only felt compelled one time to leave a review which was the result of some shady billing practices of an urgent care facility (which, if I had read Yelp, I would have avoided). Today marks the second time and it is for all the right reasons. I drove to this Garfields location from West Loop/Fulton Market for the first time a couple months ago because I saw they had a bottle of liquor I was looking for on Drizly. A couple weeks later, I stopped by again on a whim and found something else I was very keen on trying. During these visits, Mark, Tim and the rest of the Garfields crew were incredibly friendly and helpful. After a few more visits, I realized that I not only was going to visit this store for all of my liquor needs but that I wanted them to provide the alcohol for my upcoming wedding. Mark took the time to work with my fiancee and me as we fine tuned the quantities and brands of alcohol we wanted, while ensuring that we received competitive pricing. However, it is the personal touch that this store provides that pushed them ahead of the competition as we felt they truly cared about make our day a priority. I cannot say enough good things about this location. I drive a half hour to go to this store. I'm buying alcohol for my wedding from this store. I've referred friends to this store. And now I'm posting this review for this store. If you're looking for the best customer service with a great selection, this location is worth driving to and from the West Loop on 90/94 to go to. We had our wedding at Salvage One in Chicago in July. Our caterer recommended two different companies to order the liquor through and we reached out to both. It was immediately clear to us that Garfield's was the way to go. They were quick in responding and sounded like they would be flexible with requests and modifications to the order. We started the process of securing alcohol a little later than we would have liked - about 6 weeks out, but Danie helped us through the process without a problem. She was patient with our requests to add or change items. The delivery and pickup from the venue was seamless. Best of all, we were able to go to the store in Norridge post-wedding to pickup the remaining open items that couldn't be returned. As a major wine lover who has seen all of the commercials on TV, I had to check this place out. Garfields commercials trash Binnys, "the big box", speaking of the great prices, and outstanding customer service. What I experienced was a very different story. First off, the wine selection was not vast. My local grocery store actually has a larger, and better selection. Prices are not as good as they advertise, probably 20% higher than Binnys. Worst part is that the store was very quiet, one other customer and I saw at lease a few employees. Not a single person asked me if I needed help as I wandered the store for 15 mins. As j walked out slowly past multiple workers, no one said a word to me, or even acknowledges me. Not worth your time I am afraid. Legitimate craft beer selection, wow! Based on a few Yelp reviews, I came here while on a work trip to Chicago and looked for the closest place (as I had no car). After a long walk, I ended up here and made a beeline. I got a bit worried when I saw signage outside for macrobrews, but was quickly assuaged when I saw Bell's Oberon. Turning the corner into a room probably 50x50, there were 4 aisles of beers surrounded by cases/12s and a cooler wall. First, the single bottle shelf. Found quickly - Boulevard Brewing, Three Floyds Dreadnaught, Dogfish Head, Allagash, and numerous other winners at very good prices. From there, more single bottles and six packs. A decent selection of global beers and picks of some of the best options in the nation - Sixpoint from Brooklyn (at the same prices I pay in New Jersey!), Coney Island, New Belgium, Boulevard, Founders, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, Bell's, Goose Island and lots of others I don't remember. Net net, it's as if a craft beer lover figured out everything he could get in the area, ordered it, and made a room dedicated to it, almost like it was curated as an art exhibit. But it's an art exhibit with great prices, good selection, and meant to be purchased. I regularly visit craft beer bars and stores as a reporter for NJ's biggest craft beer site, and if I lived here this would be a regular stop for me. Worst service. I'm not sure if these guys are supposed to know what they are selling or they are there for a paycheck. Several times I have gone in and when I ask for help they treat me like if I should not even be asking a question. About 2-3 weeks before my wedding I emailed Garfield's on my caterer's (Maison Cuisine) recommendation. I worked with Tim to figure out alcohol for both the rehearsal dinner and wedding. Tim made the whole thing so easy and was wonderful about making suggestions when we didn't know what to pick or when he thought there was something better for a cheaper price. Everything Tim suggested was delicious and worked perfectly with our meals. Our rehearsal dinner order was picked up, while we had the larger wedding order delivered. Being able to have Garfield's deliver everything straight to our venue was such a huge help. After our wedding we were able to return everything that was unopened which was awesome, since I overestimated what we needed. Good selection of craft beer with a helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly staff. I don't know diddly about wine or liquor and I've never had a problem asking an employee for some help picking some stuff out. If that particular person doesn't have the knowledge necessary they've always found one of the wine or liquor guys to come help me out. I see some people complaining about the store service and don't quite understand it. I've never personally experienced it or witnessed anyone else be treated rudely. Actually the only rudeness I see is from absolute lazy sacks of fecal matter customers that can't be arsed to pull into one of the MANY parking spaces available. Instead needing to pull up to the store front door and sitting there like an amoeba with no functioning grey matter. You're in a car, it takes no effort to drive 20 extra feet and pull into a space but no, you're the center of the universe right? Garfield's provided the beverages for our wedding (about 90 people, cocktail style). They were recommended by our venue (Firehouse Chicago) and we worked with Regan, who was awesome. He was available via email and phone and provided us an initial quote, based on basically the information above, and then adjusted it several times to fit our specific needs. They delivered exactly when they said they would and have a great buy back policy, with no restocking fee. We didn't run out of anything and had a full bar of options all night. Prices were reasonable and they made the entire process super easy- we wouldn't have changed a thing and highly recommend Garfield's! read more

Cardinal is a great place to buy liquor for weddings. I spoke to Adam a day before my wedding and asked for drinks to keep 170 people happy--highly uncommon to place such a large order on such short notice. Nonetheless, he obliged and even drafted a list of drinks we needed that fit my budget, and helped load the drinks into my car. He always advises to buy more than what's needed because at Cardinal you can return unopened liquor. I had quite a few I had to return, but it was quick and hassle-free. I can't say enough good things about this place. With service and a selection like theirs, I'm sure they'll stay in business a long time. read more

Finally a place with a great selection in the neighborhood. I haven't had to make a 15-minute drive to Binny's in months. The help is very friendly and knowledgeable. I'm new to scotch and bourbon and their recommendations have been great. Prices are on par with Binny's, some items are less, some are more. I just wish they had more specials on the higher end stuff, as I love trying a fancy new scotch/rum/port. The only thing the place is missing is a rewards program. With all the money I'm throwing at this place I wish I got something back, or at least a 15%off coupon once a month like Binny's. read more

This place beats any other competitor hands down. I am so sorry Binny's I have found my go to place for any wine and spirits I may need in the future. They have a wide variety of beverages and are priced at the right place. I came in search of a new tequila that was out on sale. Its the 1800 coconut flavor. This specific tequila is so good I drove 10 miles just to make sure I bought it. I tried places like Binny's and Other liquor stores but they never heard of it. Or just did not feel like checking to see if they carried it. I get it its the holiday season and everyone is overworked and stressed out, but it takes just that little to make a new customer. Who in the end would bring more business to you in the long run. Tim the manager is useless and unprofessional, but his use of monosyllabic words should be an indication of this companies caliber. Just wanted to ask if they delivered to an address in Chicago, he directed to the Web address. As he did that I asked could he verify if they simply would deliver to a Chicago address because I was calling from out of town and did not want to go through the web just to be told they don't deliver. He interrupted me several times before I could finish that simple request and told me again about the web portal. I then asked , yes with a bit of volume for understanding, if with the known address would they be able to deliver.... Well Tim "the manager of the year" hung up. The store is nice prices ain't bad but the customer service is horrible, I went in to purchase bottles of wines and an expensive bottle of remy Martin and beer they did not have the 2 types of wines I wanted hey no problem can you help me find similar ones since i don't know crap about wines? No way was too demanding for them I guess asked for a beer that was not in a freezer they made me walk all the way across the store and get it my self and the dude at the register was complaining customers are calling asking for prices, horrible horrible staff for a nice location like that that's not good, customers make your store maybe treat them a lil better read more

Reminds me of Specs in Texas if you are familiar with the chain. Large selection that is well laid out. They had a nice selection of ciders that I was happy to see. Tim and Adam did a great job of suggesting brands, especially red wine and champagne, and gave us an honest assessment of requested amounts. They were very responsive throughout the entire quote process and delivered on time the day of the wedding. They credited any unopened bottles that did not have the label damaged or submerged that we returned. They also have an option to pick up returns the night of the wedding themselves. Pearl is strangely hard to find, though, so I got very excited when I found it here! They have some nice employees there that like to help you find things. There is one employee that is really into Scotch and his favorite thing to do is pick out the right one for you. This place is now called "Garfield's" so it is time for me to "update" my previous review. I went here one week before Christmas to purchase a dessert wine as we were invited to someone's home and asked to bring two bottles of dessert wine. Fine. As I entered the store no one asked if I needed any help or if I was looking for anything special. Obviously, the customer service is lacking here. I walked around for a little bit before finding the specific wine I was looking for. I paid for the two bottles of wine, and got the hell out of the store. As I placed the bottles of wine in my back seat one of the bottles slipped and rolled right onto the parking lot concrete. It shattered into many little pieces and was leaking all over the place. I was really upset at myself. I went back inside the store immediately and asked if I could get another bottle because I dropped it and it broke. I showed them the bag as it was leaking all over the place, and it was obvious that the wine bottle was broken. When this place was "Cardinal" the customer service was excellent. In fact, the customer service was outstanding, and the employees were always helpful. When it was "Cardinal" the Manager even replaced a bottle of wine that my niece dropped while placing it on the register. The "Cardinal" manager ran over to grab another bottle and said "No charge" and asked an employee to please clean up the broken bottle near the register area. We were impressed that we were given another bottle without charging us. However, Garfield does not believe in keeping a customer or wanting a customer to return (in other words, repeat business). Apparently, they refused to replace the broken bottle of wine which I admit was my fault. The next time I need to purchase any Spirits or wine I will be taking my business to their Competitors. Yes, it was my fault that I dropped the bottle and it broke. I take accountability for the accident. However, a business that wants to keep customers or have repeat business would "eat" the cost of the broken bottle of wine. I ended up going to Costco's and buying another bottle of wine for $30. read more
