I've been here a few times but never written a review. Since, I moved and now live closer I can come to this location to get my wines. Free nice size parking lot. This location is stocked up nicely. I might be able to shop at this Binny's. The customer service is ok. No one greets you when entering the store. I asked one of the employees a question and all he does is stares. After, my second hello.. Can you please help me? Than he drags himself to finally come over to help me. We need better customer service in these businesses. This review is basically for the quality of the store. Nice stock, spacious and close to where I live. read more

WOW!!! This place has improved exponentially in the last five years! Expect to see all the rare and experimental beer releases that hit the shelves of your favorite liquor stores here, however, they might be more easily attained here due to the area and distribution. You can fine some badass deals on single malt Scotches, rare tequilas, dark imported rums, and other spirits if you look closely. The monthly email coupons and member's deals are something to keep a watch for and their sampling days with accompanying savings are pretty cool to be a part of! Bonus point for the "Mix & Match" sixer section, especially the wall souly dedicated to the Chicagoland breweries. The parking lot is a mess but just plan accordingly and you will be fine. Please just try to remember, you are not in Boise, Idaho anymore Yelp people. read more

I just shopped at this store and couldn't Believe how pleasant EVERYONE was, especially manager! He obviously sets the bar high. The gentlemen working the aisles were very helpful and friendly. I actually gladly Bought more than I planned just Because of their help! Right when I walked in I was greeted by the staff behind the counter. I am from Indiana and heard constant raves about the friendly staff and great selection of whiskey at Binny's. As luck would have it, I flew through Chicago and on my way back booked it straight from the airport to make it 5 minutes before closing. I immediately apologized for coming in at the end of the day upon walking in but explained that I was from out of town, was told this was a must stop from others and this was my one chance to check the place out as I need to hit the road for work and will not. Be back for the foreseeable future. I will only have to take the word of others that the selection was good as within a minute of looking through the aisle I was confronted and told they were closed. I wanted to inquire on a few bottles as I did not have a sufficient chance to check out the selection and was told "what you see if what you get, but we're closed". At that point, frustrated and clearly not welcome, I left. I get that stores have hours but when I am in before that time, make a point to apologize and explain my excitement to be able to stop in and grab a couple bottles, that was a great opportunity to make a memorable customer service impression and gain another supporting customer for what would have only been sticking around another 5 minutes to close. I'll have to take the friendliness and service rating from others word or assume it came from a different store, cause it wasn't to be found here. A very disappointing experience. read more

Pro's: Well stocked, great variety of everything, lots of sales. Con's: staff wasn't the friendliest, The doorway in seems to be the smoker's hangout for the grocery next store, and the parking lot is NUTS. We came in on a Saturday and it was moderately busy. This seems like a Binny's that's not living up to it's full potential. While stocked with lots of beer, wine and liquor choices, I don't think I've ever seen so many boxes/gallons of wine and bottles of cheap vodka going through the checkout lines. But hey, to each their own! This actually worked out in our favor-- my guy, who loves craft beer, found options he hadn't been able to find elsewhere, since this does not seem to be the popular buy. This option may be a good honey-hole for that purpose. I definitely would not go out of my way to come here, but if I was shopping at the store next door, I would consider coming back in again. read more

This review will NOT be inspired by some Marvin Gaye and Chardonnay, because I have some hating to do. I haven't been to any other Binny's, but I was able to tell right off the bat that this is probably one of their worst locations. If not the worst. From the outside, it looks like any other Binny's. But wait until you actually go inside. You'll realize you've entered the Liquor Store equivalent of The Walking Dead. If it weren't for the tolerable selection, you'd think you were in a Foremost. Is there a beer called Douche Lord? If so, I bet all the employees at Binny's drink it religiously. At the end of the day, all I really care about is my booze. I don't care about visual appeal. So the real reason for the low rating is because the employees at Binny's suck. The young punk behind the register didn't even look old enough to be ringing up my beer, and he had an attitude problem. So I called him by the wrong name to let him know that I didn't care about him. If you're adamant about shopping at Binny's, treat this location like dubstep music. Avoid it. read more

5 members of our Que Syrah, Syrah wine club members attended the Thanksgiving Wine Tasting last evening.... A Thursday evening event which caught our eye, since most of the events are on Friday and Saturday. The River Grove store is a smaller store, but we found the aisles roomy enough to navigate, the store was well stocked, the staff was attentive, and the event was well planned. There were 6 tables of wines to taste, a nice mix of Whites, Reds, and a couple Sparkling and Dessert wines. Varied price points for every budget, from $10 to $40. One of the Demo table hosts was late arriving, but for 6:00pm start on a Thursday evening rush hour - that can happen. The Table Hosts were knowledgable and interacted well with the shoppers. This was our first visit to the River Grove Binny's, but won't be our last. Well done, and thank you for hosting the event. read more

Yeah, not the biggest Binny's I've encounter. Was looking around the aisles for 10-15 minutes and didn't encounter an employee on the sales floor. Store itself, seemed rather dirty as if there was a different liquor store in this storefront. Big selection of Polish/Eastern European beer if that's your thing. They get a star for carrying Half Acre Daisy Cutter, which is only available in liquor stores in the city. Guy at the register could of been a little nicer, didn't greet or thank me or the customer in front of me. read more

Hello to all microbrew drinkers, I've been to this location many times and staff is very helpful. Today I called and spoke an employee and asked about a very had to get beer called "zombie dust". He checked for me and were sold out but he pointed to an app that would show me other stores who might carry it. I did and I found it. AWESOME ! So I called back to thank the employee and spoke his manager who was just as cool! They will keep getting my business as well I will refer a lot of my friends and family here. Thanks again! I've seen reviews that this isn't the best Binny's in the area, but it's the first I've been too and I didn't have a problem at all. I went in needing Baileys for the Hubs, and prosecco and creme de cassis to make filthy fizz's for new years eve. The second I walked in someone helped and showed me exactly where everything I needed was. He even made sure I got the best prices without getting crap booze and told me to sign up for their membership card which saved me an additional $5 at checkout. The prices are a little high, but not unreasonable. I was in and out in all of ten minutes. read more

This Binnys could be better, but could be worse. I often go to it because it is so close to where I live. But if there was a place with better pricing and beer selection, I would easily go there instead. However, Most times I have a pretty decent experience. I've been too a few Binny's and I've always been pleased by its obvious selections and pricing, customer service bad diversity. Walked into this one thou and there was a few tables with wine tasting given it was about to close I guess they didn't care, nobody said anything (funny thing was I was looking for wine). I walked a little further and there was another table and the guy who worked the table just pores a glass to a lady. I stood there waiting patiently and the guy never acknowledged me. I finally take initiative and ask him to taste the Pinot Noir and he gives me a cold answer about how you need a glass and sorry like I wasn't shit. He was very responsive to the two white ladies thou giving his number out too one and the chappie gentleman with the chappie jokes. I would never have thought of having some racist or stereotype vibe from Binny's but I did. I walked out I'm not giving me business to this location. Get your shit together it's not only white people who enjoy a nice glass of wine. read more

Wow, this Binny's was a huge disappointment to me! I've been to three or four others and expected a good selection but other than a really extensive selection of vodkas and whiskeys, there wasn't much to write home about here. I'd hoped that after their buyout of Sam's there would be a lot more information provided on the wines, but no joy there. It's pretty much best guess on most of them. And a huge disappointment is the complete lack of North Shore Distillery liquors. We've been wanting to pick up a bottle of their aquavit for Yule -- frankly it's the only one I've ever tried that is worth drinking, IMO -- but no luck there, or in any other part of the selection of hard liquor. This is surprising because Binny's seems to have a good relationship with North Shore Distillery, and in fact it was at a Binny's that we first tasted their wares (including a killer Tahitian vanilla vodka to die for, but which is now, sadly, discontinued.) To be blunt, it looks to me as if this Binny's is geared to a kind of lowest common denominator drinker with just a bit of higher-end or more unusual stuff. Color me pretty unimpressed. read more

Just attempted to purchase something here. My DL is slightly faded but still readable. The cashier called another woman over whom I assumed was manager on duty. She looked at my ID and said we can't take it. When I tried to explain to her I'm a regular and have never been questioned she said NO. I tried to show her my FOID card which you need a background check to receive, again NO. I don't know if it was my appearance, seeing that I was clean cut on my ID and now have a medium sized afro. Needless to say the very least she could have done was verify me in their database. I do own a Binny's card. read more

I'm sorry but it sounds like some of you have an ax to grind with this place. You can't blame the employees for the outdated looks of the store or ID policies or even lack of sales for that matter. I've been going there for a few years since I moved from NY and am always treated well. I'm not going to call one of you out by name but it seems you have problems at Liq stores & you talk down and belittle retail employees. I deal with the gentleman, on a regular basis that you claim mistreated you. Let me just say I HIGHLY doubt your recollection of events. He is always pleasant, helpful and friendly to me. The store is clean and easy to get around. This is not the Binny's I am used to in St. Charles, IL. The gentleman was very nice to ask if he could help so I asked for both Joel Gott Sauvignon Blanc and then South American wines. I usually buy Tilia from South America and Joel Gott from the U.S. He took me to the Sauvignon Blanc section, and then said, "no we don't carry that,"' and pointed me to the South American wines and left. I gave up on the South American wines so picked out Robert Mondavi, then went BACK to the Sauvignon Blanc section and FOUND the Joel Gott he told me they do not carry!! I pointed it out to him that I not only found Joel Gott Sauvignon Blanc but that it was also ON SALE!!! He did not even care, or thank me ( I don't need a thank you but REALLY??). My observation is the gals at the checkout are VERY good, the piles of empty boxes at the entrance?? Highly frightening. The fact that the guy who asked to help and doesn't? It's no wonder this Binny's is suffering. If I worked there, their sales would double. They are a disgrace to Binny's Customer Service standard. read more

i worked at this binny's in the past and it is a bit run down, but has a fantastic variety of products for one of the smallest binny's stores around. they are hoping for a remodel soon. as employees they try to be friendly and helpful as much as possible. i feel bad that some reviews reflect differently. sometimes it was difficult to convey a good attitude when frustration occurs due to a lack of communication. the area is mostly eastern europeon and there are many polish language customers. most of the employees don't speak polish, so it's difficult to ask questions and get through a sale easily and quickly. all in all i really liked working here and still shop here for liquor. as a friendly hint......always have your binny's card available. if the cashiers need to look it up, it takes more time for the customers and i can see then why it wouldn't be a pleasant experience. no one likes to wait. read more
