Tartar sauce was excellent. Cheeseburger was homemade and quite good. They toast their bun which is nice. Fresh veggies. Onion rings are also home made however the batter was way to thick. Thinning out the batter would make these great. Beef Enchiladas were okay although a little on the bland side. Need a little more kick to make them superb. Beans and rice were very good. When I drove up it seemed very quiet. A few folks were sitting outside at a picnic table & it turns out they were the people who worked there. The look of the place was a little dated & I was unsure if I should walk in to a table or wait. The one server that was in the building was VERY nice! She literally listed off everything she had for me to drink so I appreciated that. I inquired about alcohol & she said she did not have any, so be weary! I was brought chips and salsa to start & the salsa tasted great. I ordered the mini tacos with pastor which was one dollar off. The size of the tacos were pretty large for being labeled as "mini" & the pastor wasn't anything to write home about. The charro beans were the savior on the plate because they were dynamite! I would urge one to explore the other options for Mexican cuisine that Hebbronville has to offer.

The staff is welcoming (Dog was pretty awesome), there's live music (you can join them up onstage), and the food was good. You'll have to try the 16oz T-bone, is quite a site to see and is good. You'll end up going straight to the ER after that load of food, but the place is a must go, for the experience, when you're in town. I have it 4 stars 'cause there aren't half stars and a three wouldn't do the place justice.

All the chairs were broken and it looked like no one had cleaned in about 40 years. Customers were walking in and out of the kitchen to get their own food and beers. Any reasonable health inspector would shut this place down in a heartbeat. The service was awful. It took over an hour and a half for the "waiter" to take our order. By this time they had run out of most of the items on the menu. The waiter was incredibly rude and lacked good hygiene. 2 hrs later we got our cold bland food, for which we were over charged by about $20. I'd rather eat at the local gas station than this dump any day.

They also have truck parking next to the restaurant that not a lot of people realize. I walked in and was greeted immediately by very nice and professional staff. But of course if you know me, you know I chose to sit at the bar. They were playing some soccer game on the TV. I don't watch sports so doesn't matter to me what's on the TV. My bartender greeted me IMMEDIATELY and took my drink order, and gave me a menu. This guy was on his game! Very attentive, engaged in banter. Couldn't be happier with my bar experience all together. I'm on a no-carb kick, so It can be challenging sometimes to find carb-free options at Mexican restaurants, since all the good stuff and fun stuff to eat like tortillas, rice, beans, and other fried dishes are plentiful. But I noticed they had a Molcajete! (For those don't know what that is, it's essentially a bowl carved out of volcano rock, and then heated up with various meats and other ingredients, served SUPER HOT). My molcajete came with pretty good size shrimp, beef, chicken, couple slices of mozzarella type cheese, pico and other stuff in the bottom. The bartender asked me if I wanted to substitute my rice and beans for avocado and pico, which I did. I ate my avocado and put the pico into my molcajete. I am a faithful consumer of tajin, and tapatio. BUT They didn't have tap! They only have Cholula. The bartender told me he keeps requesting it, but never gets it, so cholulah it was. My molcajete was super hot, boiling like it should be, really flavorful. All together really good. I did notice The Rock wasn't as deep as other Mexican restaurants I've been to that served it, and didn't have a couple other little things in it that other Mexican restaurants too, but it was still good nonetheless and a perfect portion size for me. I didn't realize they close at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday because I planned on having supper there again tonight, so I will be stopping in the next time I come down to this part of Texas! Thank you Taqueria Jalisco! Maybe next time I'll have a cheat day and eat something carby!
