We were in town for my grandsons basketball game and we were hungry, upon searching Yelp we found this burger joint...as we drove up we were looking for a place to park but this place sits on the end of a triangular lot and next to a busy street which makes parking really awkward...as we entered we noticed that there was not much lighting in the restaurant...there was two employees, one was the cook of coarse and the other was working the register...we ordered and sat down for our food, considering we were the only ones there it took a bit to get our orders...I ordered the chicken fried chicken plate (I should have ordered a burger) and I don't like posting this but it was definitely over cooked...we also ordered a hamburger and that was pretty good burger...i'm willing to go back and have one of there bigger burgers and see if I can have a better experience here... read more

Drove an hour to meet family at the Burger Barn. They drove an hour from Laredo. We were the first ones there. My 2 grandsons, there grandmother, my brother, his wife and two sons and my sister and nephew. I was order 4 of 4. I got the Lucy burger, my favorite. My sister and brother ordered the same burger. The Lucy takes longer to make. After the first 3 orders came out I went to wait for mine. I waited 15 minutes. I went to the counter to ask about my order. Amanda went to the back and 5 minutes later she said my order was being worked on and would be out soon. I told her if had not been started to cancel my order as my family was done with their meals. Food is pricey but consistently good. Service is about what you'd expect in this town, not bad but not great. My only complaint is that they have a sign that states if you don't get a receipt to text the number posted. On one occasion I did not receive a receipt. So I texted the number. I never received. Response. So I called the number, then I received a text response of "can't talk right now". I kept following up with texts. Finally they blocked my number. I waited in line 15 minutes to place my order. I placed my order that was asked to pull to the side. 45 minutes later I still did not have my hotdog and fish. They said they fill the to go orders first. When she finally brought out my meal, I specifically asked if my side of ketchup and ranch was in the bag which he said yes. This place was horrible. The order took over an hour to have our order ready. Then when the order came out it was all wrong. The cashier couldn't hear anything because they have a speaker blasting music right next to her. A bunch of people got their order wrong. The. We tried to get a refund because while we waited for an hour, the town residents were being served before us. Unfortunately, the stubborn manager couldn't handle the fact that he fucked up with that but also when trying to condecend us with his comments about "Well... there were so many orders before you". There were only two, and they each had one item. But then they skipped our order and decided to make the food for a family that was there after us instead. That family was there thirty minutes after we ordered. Even then that family's order got messed up and they requested a refund like us. I hope the manager realizes that once the customer wants a refund for poor service, the customer is in the right. The poorly treated customer does not need a petty childish "don't leave, stay" act to compensate for their poor treatment. Grow up and accept when you've made a mistake, otherwise your business won't last. read more

Visitor from the Valley, temporarily here while husband works on a construction site. We've tried Pepper's, Jaliesense (I think that's how you spell it) and Laredo Taco. We didn't like Pepper's. Jaliesense, the Mexican restaurant next to Dollar General, was really good. Laredo Taco is just because it's cheap and okay. This place really impressed us. I hate that others experienced negative visits/food from here. We thought it was the best besides that Mexican restaurant. My husband ordered the Teriyaki burger, while I ordered the mushroom burger. My gosh.. we LOVED them. Cooked just right where it's still juicy, your basic toppings were perfectly fresh, the extra condiments were the icing on it. On my burger, they put chipotle mayo, which I thought went perfect with the red onions to give the burger that right amount of spice. Perfectly toasted bun that held everything together. The fries were equally amazing; no salting or seasoning needed. Our drinks matches as well! Their lemonade is made from scratch! The atmosphere is that perfect comfortable country atmosphere with the decorations and color scheme. The place is laid out very well, even for a small space. It is what it is. There are not many choices for food in this small town. The burgers are very ordinary because the beef patty is institutionally prepared. Super thin and tasteless. French fries and sweet potato fries are bland. I could not eat them. On another Yelpers recommendation, I tried the fried mushrooms. Ate two and dumped the rest in the trash. Just awful. Instead of the Dairy Queen or Church's Chicken, I wanted to try something more local. So when I saw the Burger Barn, my girlfriend and I decided that we should try something that would have something more special about the ambiance and food. Burgers - pretty much any way you want it - any toppings, A1, etc. Nothing out of the blue except that they offered egg rolls as a side item. It looked like they had some good stuffed potatoes as well. The water from the unsweet tea was off. It tasted a little salty, but I heard that is no uncommon from towns near oil. The wait was about 20 minutes for 2 burgers. We got an order of fried mushrooms and that was a good size basket that we weren't able to finish. The burgers were a good size between 1/4 and 1/3. Juicy. The thing I like about small town burger places is that many have a good thick piece of bacon or two. This place delivered on it. The burgers were very greasy - probably a 60/40. The bread was soft and fresh. Nothing phenomenal about this place, but it will feel like something that came out of a movie. Decorations around the place that look like it supports the local community. Random flyers pinned to a wall. If you're drying thru, give this place a shot, but be ready for a quick food coma. read more

While still one of the best in Hebbronville I just don't care for this place anymore, turns out that eating burgers all the time gets old quickly. The burgers that I used to like no longer do anything for me, the Tuscan Chicken was OK but not good enough to make me want to come back. It was nothing fancy, a reg burger , chicken sandwich and fries. The chicken was not even hot and it may have been reheated, it was so dry. I work in the Hebbronville area and I've eaten from this restaurant for the past 9 years. Yesterday I called an order over the phone and called back literally a minute later to tell them to cancel it since I got tied up at work and was not going to be able to pick it up. I called back today to order since I stayed with my cravings and I was told that I was no longer able to order on the phone since I had canceled. I told them I did it literally a minute later, out of courtesy so they wouldn't not start making the food. Which by the way takes an eternity. Will never eat at that place again. This has been the worst service I've received in a long time. We decided to use the drive thru we ordered 2 burgers and fried mushroom and were told it would be 15min. That is pretty standard for mushrooms so we didn't mind waiting. After a while of waiting we decided to just eat inside since our son fell asleep. I told them we would be eating here instead and i was asked "if I was ready" this was confusing because we were waiting for them... anyways we sat down and were given our burgers. We asked about the mushrooms, they told us they were going to the corner store to buy milk to make them. WHAT?! at this point we had already been waiting 20min and were never told they hadn't been made. About another 15min later we got our mushroom and asked for more ranch because it came with a half served cup. We were told no problem it would be right out. Another 10min later still no ranch, turns out they were making it. Stuff like this happens but why not communicate it with the customer? The most interesting thing is that there is a sign that says if you want to be a rude, mean, complaining customer you have to pay them $10. How about you make sure you are providing good service before you complain about your customers. I have to note that the place was empty with a few cars passing through the drive thru, but it wasn't at peak hours.Unfortunate thing is that the food is good BUT the service is just BAD and makes the food not worth it.
