He did not return my call for 3 weeks, and throughout the process I did not get updates from him about court dates, or what he was doing. When we finally spoke for the second time, he immediately told me that my case was not triable, and that I should plead out. After reading the police report, he did not ask me any questions, nor my side of the case. He immediately asserted his opinion, which was vastly different from 4 other lawyers I've asked advice on this case. When I questioned him, he said that we should meet, but only when I gave him a response that indicated I had some legal experience. For a few weeks, he said he would contact me but refused to initiate contact, or call me back. When we did finally meet, we had an interesting conversation. We drove by the scene of the accident and he claimed that although I wanted the case to be handled a certain way, "[he was] running this ship," which was extremely rude. He then added that I should be thankful for his counsel, since he only takes on about 5 pro-bono cases a year, and that people pay him a lot of money for his representation, insinuating that he wasn't going to work as hard for me as his paid clients. Lastly, I thanked him for making the time to come meet me, and go over the case in person. His reply? "You know, you gotta make people feel like you care," before he dropped me off. He had no social skills, no empathy, possibly no soul. I've met lawyers who care about people, I'd say a few are friends of mine, and I did not feel this from him in any capacity. I wonder how many people who have little to no experience with the justice system, have pled out to something they're not guilty of, due to his poor legal advice, and have been convinced they needed to be grateful for his representation.
