Chris and his wife, Leslye, own the business and I love that I'm supporting a small business as the owner of a small business too. This is a great option for those who want one-on-one training without the fuss and "scene" of a bigger gym, where you have to pay monthly membership fees. This cuts away the crap - and just focuses on YOU and what you want to achieve. They have YEARS of experience doing this and remain passionate about fitness. There are two additional trainers there: Dawn (female) and Ashley (male). Let them know if you have a preference when you call to make an appointment! They have group fitness options as well, I simply stick to the single option because it's proven to work best for my lifestyle and personality. The stand-alone facility is the perfect size property off of Glenwood South in downtown Raleigh, easy to get to (I walk when the weather is favorable from my downtown Raleigh apartment and drive when it's cold - there's plenty of parking there) and they have had some clients for 10+ years. My wife and I started going again this past January and we've had a huge boost to our health. The best thing about Chris and his staff is that they have great COVID safety practices, each workout is completely customized, and they LISTEN! I've worked with good trainers and bad trainers and the biggest difference is if they're listening to you, your workout will be more targeted, more effective, and you won't get hurt. When he was in Chicago, he worked with my tennis playing son, and transformed him from just a good tennis player, to a much better all around athlete, vastly improving his game and able to play at the next level. The exercises he had him doing on strength and balance were amazing based on where he started. The best part was it was all very controlled and gradual, nothing crazy to start where he could get injured; Kyle is expert in that area. After my son left for college, I started my daughter, who was only 15 at the time, also a good player, but not very physical so I was really didn't know what to expect. My trainer is Ciaran , who has been an incredible teacher. After the first day, I felt more comfortable about coming to train. Ciaran is very patient, guiding me through this process , taking notes as to my ability, always giving positive feedback in my progress. His attitude and ability to train someone like myself (over the age of 60!) has improved my confidence in my ability to "get in shape" ! I've been sharing the experience with others I interact with as well...encouraging everyone, no matter what your current body shape is...there's hope here! No intimidation what so ever! I signed up for what was presented as a 3-month commitment for their training program (which is…read morealready quite expensive). As the end of the three months approached, I was informed by the Director that I would need to pay for an additional month because I did not provide a 30-day notice prior to the end of the commitment. This was extremely frustrating. If it's called a 3-month commitment, it's reasonable to expect that it ends after three months--not that it automatically rolls into another month unless you cancel 30 days in advance. Before I signed the agreement, Noah, their representative briefly went over the terms, but the 30-day cancellation notice was never explained. That detail should have been emphasized, especially since it directly affects billing. Overall, this felt misleading and disappointing. Transparency about cancellation policies is important, especially when customers are making a financial commitment.
