I'm visiting family here in North Carolina and came by this location with my fiancé. I'm a paying member based in California and didn't realize my membership didn't include out of state access. When I scanned in, the guy at the front desk immediately asked if I was from here. I explained that I was just visiting, but instead of offering help or explaining options, he was rude, dismissive, and made no effort to assist. There was no explanation, no attempt to offer a guest pass, upgrade, or even a basic welcome. He simply turned us away, without care. I even called my home gym in California, and their manager was very kind and understanding. They said that this location could have offered a courtesy pass but when I brought it up, the staff here, especially the manager Daniel, refused and acted like I didn't matter. It was honestly one of the most unwelcoming gym experiences I've ever had. To compare after leaving LA Fitness, I went to Planet Fitness nearby, and guess what? I'm not even a member there, but they gladly welcomed me in, offered me a free guest pass, and treated me with kindness and respect. Their staff was professional and accommodating, something this LA Fitness location seriously lacks. I've always had great experiences at my home LA Fitness in California, where staff are helpful and friendly. But this Raleigh location made me feel disrespected, unimportant, and embarrassed. I wasn't trying to get in for free I would've upgraded on the spot if someone had just taken a moment to explain. Instead, I was kicked out like I wasn't even a member. Really upsetting experience. LA Fitness corporate should be aware of how this location treats loyal members from out of state.

I started on the floor, doing power and explosive movements with a little bit of rowing mixed in. It's great that they show the animations on the monitor so we can see what the proper form is for each exercise. That went about 25 minutes, followed by 25 more on the treadmill. They weren't kidding, the treadmills are easy to run on, they do absorb a lot of shock. I was able to do my last all out run at 9 mph. The coach was very engaged with us and took the time after class to explain my numbers to me, such as calories burned and heart rate. My knock is that the prices are crazy high. The best rate is $150 a month for 12 months. I really don't know how that's affordable for most people. I would like to come back, but not for that amount.

The tone slightly shifted a bit when I expressed my needs to compliment an existing gym membership and routine I already have. The plans offered didn't match my preferences. I have…read morebeen a member there for just about 9 months and unfortunately sustained an injury that prohibits me from working out, instead of simply giving a doctors note to the actual location and facility I use, Gold's Gym will give you the run around and make you go submit a form with their 3rd party payment provider called Peak Payment Solutions, meanwhile Peak's support takes "5-7 business days" to respond and will keep charging your account. I find it strange that the organization and physical location of the facility you use is unable to do a medical freeze but instead will route you to a 3rd party. I have a suspicion they want to make the process so arduous that the member just gives up and they can continue to collect unjust fees. The FTC just filed a lawsuit against LA Fitness for similar practices. I have logged a complaint with both the FTC and the NC DOJ for bad business practices. If anyone has experienced a similar situation with Gold's Gym, I urge you to do the same and hopefully you don't get injured!!

I mean everyone of the staff I met that work here, was always nice and friendly. I never had a problem coming here. They would also help you too if you needed it. I hope the next gym I join is just as nice as this one. Most of the time, as soon as you walk in, you give them your card, they check you in, and ask you if you need a locker and/or towel. Then, I usually go to the treadmill. Their treadmills are so advanced that you can watch TV on them while exercising. Next, I usually take a shower. Then, I hook up to their WiFi and check my email using my Laptop. It's a pretty cool place. I always liked coming here.

I found this location to be relatively close to my home and I like that it's 24/7. I spoke with Andy on the phone and via text. The service Andy provides is excellent and Andy did a great job following up to ensure I could get a tour. When I brought this to the owner, his answer was "because our facility is top notch and we have a bodybuilder like atmosphere which encourages a higher level of training at our facility". The facility is not top notch. Every other anytime fitness I've been to in the area has more equipment and is cleaner. They also are never any help when you come to them with questions about your "contract". I got a new credit card and needed to remove my card that was expiring from my payment method. The process was impossible. 2 weeks passed before anybody could give me an answer on how to change my payment method. Then, when it finally got switched, I got hit with late fees and a service charge totaling over $100. An absolute joke of a gym. Stay away at all costs.

The first class I went to, the music was too loud and I had to keep looking around to see what we were all supposed to be doing. The second class I went to, the mic for the instructor seemed muffled and again, I was left wondering what move we were doing next. This studio was a little bit of a trek for me but I wanted to give it a try because I don't mind a 20 min drive to a studio I like but, unfortunately, this space isn't for me. Plus, the fellow class attendees didn't seem very friendly and made me feel very much like an outsider.
