As soon we entered we were greeted with warm, genuine smiles from owner Shawn Pickett and Sarah the beer/wine slinger and oyster roaster extraordinaire. Rustic tables and local art adorn the walls of this authentic Virginia tavern. All the food prep is done out in the open - and owner Shawn shucked oysters to order - not a minute earlier than necessary. Sarah offered to serve batches of three oysters at a time so we could try four of their most popular treatments in a dozen oysters: Urbanna Rocks, Waterview Herbs, Port Royal, and Fredericksburg Artillery. Every treatment was unique and delicious- without overpowering the taste of the FRESH LOCAL OYSTERS. After we made quick work of the first dozen, we zoned in on a dozen more of our favorites - the Port Royal (Olive Oil, Thyme, Lemon, Parmesan, and Breadcrumbs) and split a Lansdowne sammich (Ham, Brie, Fig Jam, and Greens on Pressed Sourdough).
