She was able to get off the interstate and get the car parked at a Burger King. We live in Colorado, and having her so far away, not knowing a soul, I was just about panic stricken. We called AAA, and they sent us an angel from Till's Wrecker Service. His name is Derek. Derek was the answer to the prayers of my Mama's heart that God would keep my baby girl safe. (She's 22, but still my baby girl.) As soon as Derek arrived on scene he took control. My daughter said she felt very safe with him - so safe in fact, that when he offered to let her ride in the tow truck to Mobile, she accepted. She is not often comfortable with men, but he put her completely at ease. During the drive he shared with her about his family, his wife and three kids that he is obviously crazy about. He said that if his daughter is ever stuck some place he hopes someone will show up to help. I hope this never happens, if it does, however, he will get some sense of my gratitude to him taking such great care of my precious daughter. And as if that weren't enough, he called a couple of days later to see how my daughter was doing and even asked about the car. This type of customer service is unheard of these days. Derek is a professional who does his job with excellence and also a big-hearted human being. To his manager - you need to do whatever possible to keep Derek happy and a part of your company. Shannon sent a tow, stooped everything he was doing in the garage, sent a few guys to the auto parts store, replaced a drive belt and wheel, all in under an hour. Then, when presented a bill he said all we owed to him was $63 for the parts. He refused to take extra money for the tow, labor, anything. My four kids ran around his shop giving treats to his dogs while we waited too - they didn't mind at all. Then, to our complete surprise, that night after arriving in Destin my phone rings and who is it....? Shannon himself calling to check in and make sure we got to our spring break destination!! Being from Wisconsin we know what "Wisconsin Nice" is and if I didn't know Shannon was from Alabama I would've bet he was from Wisconsin. Our experience was 5+ stars all the way. So I needed a tow and Jacobs towing was there to answer my call at 2:00am for which I am very grateful for. AAA could NOT locate a tow truck for me until 6 am and that was too long as it was very cold at 37F outside.
