I think we are at 36% of the US states that we've mini-golfed in and this one rank right up there at the top. It was a fun course with a well manicured layout and landscaping. We were busy trying to play a round between thunderstorms and the staff were accommodating in terms of us only paying for what we could play (we did manage a full 18!). In addition to all that my son was able to throw some ninja stars for a bit while one of the employees shared the story of the place and the family that owns it. All in all, this was one of the highlights of our trip and we loved and and I know your family will as well.

I completely understand management having to weigh the economics of keeping the halfway house open during the fall - totally get it. But there's no getting around the fact that the lack of food/drink at the course places Island Hills a distant second to other area courses that keep their halfway houses open during fall play. When confronted for their extremely over oiled lanes, oiled to the point where it was physically impossible to get any spin on the ball, the staff stated that the lanes were so oily because they where just oiled today. This is not an excuse. Lanes being freshly oiled should not be this slippery. The balls were so gross that they could not even be held. Multiple people in our group and on the lanes around us dropped the balls on their approach even when held perfectly. DONT COME HERE!

I went to pick up my ball for my round thinking I was getting ready to play. When suddenly a woman with a pink bob screamed and I mean SCREAMED "STOP THROWING MORE BALLS" from the desk and walked away. We then looked and realized the lane was down so we stopped playing and waited. We waited for five minutes when we realized she wasn't letting us know the machine was down but she was actually yelling at us. So we began to put on our shoes when another worker came up to us and said "we didn't know your lane was down. We thought your time was up. That's why she yelled at you. We will give you ten minutes for this." So we got an extra ten minutes in a high anxiety and aggressive environment without an apology from the person who actually yelled at us. We were on edge the rest of the time and decided to leave early anyways. When we turned in our shoes the girl with the pink bob ignored us. On top of this, she had been ignoring customers all night and only talking to other employees. Overall, very very disappointed in this experience as we come here often for fun nights but now it's a little tarnished. I'm really ashamed and embarrassed that such a great environment has such a hostile pink bob in the vicinity.

Nothing pointed us to it. There was a sign on there saying not to turn it. We will never go again. This dude even said that "we have one room that is heavy on math that only 2 people can figure out." Like for real! I want to have fun not so high level math on a birthday event.

The smell is bad, the trash has been full and there is an industrial trash can pushed in to fill next. The showers are dingy and they creep me out.

It's pretty large compared to some of the other public pools in the area, and also their amenities. They have a kids section that of course is very shallow, however their adult section is definitely for adults and not for the faint of heart. They have three diving boards called towers that are of different heights. The lowest diving board is almost to the ground, the other diving board is of a standard height and tallest diving board (tower) is about one story tall!!!!!! It might even be taller. I still haven't mustered up the guts to dive off the tallest diving board, and don't know if I ever will. A person can purchase a membership but prices vary, however aren't expensive. All in all merrifield pool is very well kept, family friendly, and is a nice place to go and hang out for the day. I always have a good time when I go there.
