The stupid doctor told us to go to other vet with no explanation
    Th N.

This place is trash! I dont know how he got to be a doctor! Such a stupid thing. Properly they bought reviews because they are not professional! My dog was in emergency case, her face all swollen and threw up. I called them and they let us in then the doctor straight out said some rude stuff as she got shocked when he appeared and barked at him once then i said she's friendly and he said to you only, then i said no to everyone then he started giving me attitude and tell me to go to another vet! No explanation whatsoever, the room is dirty and smelly, he's old and looks like he knows nothing about vet! Please do me a favor by not coming here. DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU WANT YOUR PET STAY ALIVE

This review is based on a first visit as a new patient. I called because I found a lump on my dog. This was the first clinic that was gave me an immediate appointment for the next day. Upon arrival- this clinic is old school (physical files, the place is worn down, only one person running the clinic aside for the vet). The vet was very kind and friendly towards my dog and I. First impressions he looks like he cares about the dog and the owner. Reasons why I wouldn't return: I didn't feel comfortable moving forward (drawing labs and scheduling for the biopsy) after reading a review that he didn't catch a previous dogs cancer even though they did what he recommended (which were labs and a biopsy). Taking this into consideration I will be taking my dog somewhere else to move forward with labs, biopsy, and surgery. The prices are extremely high in comparison to other vets (double in price). Labs here was $250 while at another clinic is $110. The surgery doesn't include anesthesia and medicine. The visit costs $45. Please refer to pic for prices.

Thank you for always accepting us last min and being so affordable. Everyone is always so patient and nice. And did I mention, always affordable.

Hi there well I took my 1 year old husky to get nurtured. When I got her back she was not able to walk out on her own and the gave her back use and did not even give use any instructions on how to care for her. That was Thursday evening. Friday she was getting weeker but drank alot of water which did not help. Saturday morning she was getting worse. I called the Garvey medical hospital they told me to take her in on Monday morning. But unfortunately she passed away Saturday night from international bleeding from one of her stiches coming loose. That's what the 24hr animal hospital I'm passadena told me. I hold the Garvey pet hospital responsible for her death. They have not even called me to see how she is doing. So with that being said do not take your dog or cat to the Garvey pet hospital in el monte.

Photos I shared during my visit.

If only I could give negative stars. I brought my dog in because she was experiencing excessive vomiting (9 times). I told the Dr.Tremazi that my dog may have been exposed to the toxic Sago Palm and requested activated charcoal. He said it was too late for that, which was untrue. He performed a panel, which wouldn't be available until the next day. I was sent home with an antibiotic and anti nausea med. Six hours passed, my dog grew more lethargic. I decided to call another hospital and ask for a second opinion. They quickly referred me to animal poison control, which Garvey Animal Hospital should have done in the first place. I called and my dog was rushed to another animal hospital at midnight. She is struggling with her liver now and the survival rate is low for animals that consume this plant. If the vet would have referred her to experts, my dog would have a better chance in surviving. The vet called the next day saying her blood work looked bad, honestly if you don't know how to deal with a situation refer patients to the experts. Sago Palm poisoning should be dealt with immediately and the quicker you react, the better chance your dog has surviving. I strongly discourage other pet lovers from visiting this Veterinarian! By the way, the other hospital provided my pet with activated charcoal, IV fluid, liver medication, glucose monitoring, and she is being hospitalized for 72 hours.

This is my dog in my care .

The memory of her screaming and fighting and in so much pain and fear was not how I would have wanted her to spend her last minutes on Earth. Her face was frozen in sheer terror as the euthanasia medicine was injected into her IV and that was the last image that I have of her. This experience left me with a lot of guilt and regret and anger. How he handled this procedure made a difficult thing even worse. I will never take my pets here. They need to do better and be more mindful and careful for loving pet parents who are already going through such a difficult time. And, to anyone thinking of putting your pets down at this organization, do your research and advocate for yourself and for your pets and don't do anything you are not comfortable doing. Dr. Chen also recently mis-diagnosed one of my mom's cats last month. He diagnosed Oreo with cancer and was waiting for my mom to give the "ok" to start giving him steroids. Luckily, we have a family member who is a critical care veterinarian and, after testing and ultrasound, discovered that Oreo is actually in heart failure, in which case steroids would have been harmful to his condition. Seriously, he needs to do better!! Be more careful!! Do your due diligence. Not everyone has the luxury of having a family member who is a vet or who can afford to get a second opinion. He really needs to be careful. Let this be a PSA to pet parents who are considering having this establishment treat your pets.

He is incredibly SMART, patient, kind, and has what I can only describe as a magic touch with animals. No matter how anxious or stressed my pets are, they visibly relax the moment he begins handling them. It's something you have to witness to understand. Dr. Adler has also performed multiple surgeries on my animals, all with positive outcomes. His surgical skill, attention to detail, and thorough follow-up gave me complete confidence. Beyond his calm and compassionate demeanor, Dr. Adler is exceptionally intelligent, analytical and deeply committed to his craft. He stays current with clinical research, new therapies, and veterinary advancements, and it shows in the way he practices medicine. He doesn't just rely on old-school knowledge....he is constantly learning, reading veterinary journals and blogs, and applying the most up-to-date, evidence-based care. I originally discovered Dr. Adler when he worked in Eagle Rock, where he was already very well known and highly respected. To this day, many of my neighbors will happily travel all the way from Eagle Rock to La Puente just to continue seeing him and that alone speaks volumes. The staff is also amazing. I become a frantic lunatic over my cats being sick and the staff has had to deal with me crying and/or panicking on multiple occasions..but they're always so understanding and kind which calms me down.--sorry Sammi you're the best. I will also say this: there was one time I didn't follow his advice, and tragically, my cat passed away from exactly what he warned me about. That experience changed me forever. I will never, ever ignore his guidance again. He was right and he cared enough to be honest. HE NEVER RIPS PPL OFF EITHER! He is just not that kind of person once you meet him you'll understand. There's been multiple occasions where I have suggested something like blood work, and he told me I would be wasting my money and it turned out he was right.. If you are looking for a veterinarian who is compassionate, brilliant, gentle with animals, and genuinely invested in their well-being, Dr. Adler is it. I cannot recommend him highly enough!! A Living Nightmare…read more Do not trust this hospital with your pet's life. I am completely shocked by their high rating; my experience here has been an absolute nightmare. Their clinical incompetence and neglect cost my 9yo cat, Miley, precious time that she will never get back. Do not let the high ratings fool you. This clinic is ok for routine checkups and selling cleanings, but they completely lack the clinical competence to handle actual medical issues. They did absolutely no due diligence to investigate my cat's declining condition based on her clear, ongoing symptoms. 1. Misleading Post-Op Guidance & inconsistent medical records Miley was brought in on 5/15 for drooling and underwent dental surgery for tooth resorption on 5/19. Post-surgery, Dr. Lam briefly reviewed X-rays and told me that everything went well. After my request, Dr. Robby spent his time reviewing Miley's blood work and urinalysis, and said she could resume normal activities after three days. After this day, I've never seen Dr. Robby again. The Discrepancy in the Records: I was never told she needed a 10-14 day recheck, nor was I given clear signs of what symptoms to escalate. Yet, when I requested her medical records on 6/15, the clinic had documented that they told me to return for a 10-14 day recheck. This is a deeply concerning inaccuracy in the records and appears to protect the clinic rather than accurately reflect what I was told. 2. Dismissing Ongoing Signs of Decline Miley never returned to normal. She continued to drool, stopped eating well, and was visibly losing weight. I contacted the clinic multiple times (5/20, 5/27, and 6/10), and my concerns were minimized. I was casually reassured that her symptoms were "normal." On 6/10, I sent a video of her physically twisting her jaw while trying to eat. Only then did they tell me to bring her in. 3. Serious Lack of Clinical Judgment At the recheck on 6/11, they took Miley to the back, removed a suture, and confidently claimed this would bring "immediate relief." Because of this medical advice, I held off on pain medication so I could see if she was improving. This visit was a catastrophic failure in patient care: Medically impossible Weight: The medical record listed her weight as 10.6 lbs, the exact same weight as her surgery date weeks prior. Miley was visibly skeletal and much thinner; I do not believe they actually weighed her at all. Zero Diagnostic Thinking: Despite her obvious lethargy, severe weight loss, dehydration risk, and jaw twisting, the vet offered zero deeper discussion, no appetite stimulants, no anti-nausea medication, and no basic skull/jaw X-rays (which do not require anesthesia). 4. Within 36 hours of being sent home with vague reassurances, Miley completely declined: she was dehydrated, barely responsive, and her eyes were unfocused. It was then that I felt a large mass under her chin, which they might have completely missed just a day prior. I rushed her to an ER. ER took her seriously instantly. Within 1 day, they performed bloodwork, an oral exam, and skull/jaw/body X-rays. They immediately put cancer on the table. Miley has now been diagnosed with aggressive, terminal oral cancer. To make matters worse, when I formally reached out via email after the ER visit to demand an explanation, they replied claiming they had "reviewed the records carefully", yet they repeatedly misused Miley's gender throughout the email. This final, careless oversight further discredits everything they claim to do. They fail catastrophically at basic diagnostics, patient care, and attention to detail. The Bottom Line: If they had practiced basic diagnostic investigation instead of dismissing my instincts and minimizing her symptoms, we could have intercepted this weeks earlier to provide timely palliative care. Instead, their pattern of poor communication, lack of urgency, questionable record-keeping, and cold clinical judgment cost us the only thing we had left: quality time. Choosing St. Francis was the worst decision and biggest nightmare of my life.

Unfortunately, our experience left a very poor & unprofessional first impression. AFTER ALL WE ARE PAYING FOR A SERVICE!! Upon arrival, we encountered a sign at the front desk that was extremely condescending and immediately gave the impression of a business more interested in enforcing rules than treating patients with respect. There is a 10-minute grace period that is not clearly communicated beforehand, and if you are even slightly late, the clinic threatens to cancel your appointment and charge a late fee. We were only about five minutes late due to a long line and parking delays, yet we were told our appointment was canceled and a late fee would be applied. The staff at the front desk were dismissive and RUDE AF!!!! , particularly one woman who seemed to enjoy asserting power over patients. She even hung up abruptly on a caller saying, "I'll call you back, I'm busy." When we requested to speak to the manager, the response was only slightly better, still condescending, and we were reprimanded for explaining the situation. It felt very much like being treated as children rather than valued clients. For a clinic that presumably cares for animals, this lack of empathy, patience, and basic courtesy was courtesy was shocking. If you're treating your HIGH PAYING CLIENTS THIS BAD!? HOW ARE YOU TREATING OUR BELOVED ANIMALS? YIKES. The behavior at the front desk, combined with the aggressive sign, makes it very difficult to feel comfortable or welcome. We hope the owners and doctor are made aware of this, as staff attitude can seriously affect a clinic's reputation and patient loyalty. We are reconsidering whether to continue using this clinic and strongly encourage owners particularly more than poor management to retrain front desk staff on professionalism and compassion. Patients who spend significant amounts on pet care deserve to be treated with respect and understanding (especially during their first visit) Once this behavior is put on social platforms such as Yelp, Google. Even tik tok you will suffer greatly by allowing your front desk to abuse your clientele? What an absolute embarrassment. Take your disgusting signs down before you go viral.
