This has been my main vet since I got my dog 6 years ago. It's a pretty decent pet hospital if you want to get your yearly vaccines/puppy vaccines. Went today to get my yearly shots for my puppers and paid $188 (3% transaction fee for credit card). The Doctor is pretty old and moves slow so I don't know if I would trust them to do surgery but definitely okay for your basic needs. My dog hates the vet and screams every time so they gave me a muzzle so he was easily able to get his 5-6 shots in 30 seconds or so without biting the doctor. Not bad. They also didn't charge me when they couldn't get X-rays of my dog when he was having problems last year with his bowel as well as gave me free laxatives which helped him. No huge complaints yet. They've always been pretty friendly to me but their hours seem to cut down now and close at 2 pm, it used to be 4!! read more

This review is based on a first visit as a new patient. I called because I found a lump on my dog. This was the first clinic that was gave me an immediate appointment for the next day. Upon arrival- this clinic is old school (physical files, the place is worn down, only one person running the clinic aside for the vet). The vet was very kind and friendly towards my dog and I. First impressions he looks like he cares about the dog and the owner. Reasons why I wouldn't return: I didn't feel comfortable moving forward (drawing labs and scheduling for the biopsy) after reading a review that he didn't catch a previous dogs cancer even though they did what he recommended (which were labs and a biopsy). Taking this into consideration I will be taking my dog somewhere else to move forward with labs, biopsy, and surgery. The prices are extremely high in comparison to other vets (double in price). Labs here was $250 while at another clinic is $110. The surgery doesn't include anesthesia and medicine. The visit costs $45. Please refer to pic for prices. read more

Please do not take your dog here. My dog is dead. We were told the surgery our dog had here was most likely the cause. He died within a day of his surgery. He died because of an issue that wasn't even of concern to the doctors we've taken him to. FYI they only keep files up to two years so I made an appt and had the doctor confirm my dog was neutered here. Thankfully it was fairly quick check and didn't have to pay, but I made the appointment at 12:30 during my lunch break and wasn't seen until 1:30PM. Our dog was brought here because he was in a lot of pain, not barking, eating, walking and was crying. The doctor took bloodwork, gave him an injection for pain and prescribed him medication for a stomach infection. We were never called back with the results of the bloodwork. So I called and they said it came back fine. I told them he was not doing any better. And the doctor said to me over the phone, well give it a few more days. Nothing is wrong with him. We ended up taking him to another hospital and turns out he was MISDIAGNOSED! He never had a stomach infection. An ultrasound was done and he was suffering from something completely unrelated. We were charged over $400 for bloodwork and medicine while the new hospital we took him to charged us $150. Less than half. That place was much cleaner and professional. read more

They only allow 2 in the room when they put an animal down however they have a viewing window from the waiting room in which family members can view the transitional process of your beloved family member. If only I could give negative stars. I brought my dog in because she was experiencing excessive vomiting (9 times). I told the Dr.Tremazi that my dog may have been exposed to the toxic Sago Palm and requested activated charcoal. He said it was too late for that, which was untrue. He performed a panel, which wouldn't be available until the next day. I was sent home with an antibiotic and anti nausea med. Six hours passed, my dog grew more lethargic. I decided to call another hospital and ask for a second opinion. They quickly referred me to animal poison control, which Garvey Animal Hospital should have done in the first place. I called and my dog was rushed to another animal hospital at midnight. She is struggling with her liver now and the survival rate is low for animals that consume this plant. If the vet would have referred her to experts, my dog would have a better chance in surviving. The vet called the next day saying her blood work looked bad, honestly if you don't know how to deal with a situation refer patients to the experts. Sago Palm poisoning should be dealt with immediately and the quicker you react, the better chance your dog has surviving. I strongly discourage other pet lovers from visiting this Veterinarian! By the way, the other hospital provided my pet with activated charcoal, IV fluid, liver medication, glucose monitoring, and she is being hospitalized for 72 hours. read more

Hi there well I took my 1 year old husky to get nurtured. When I got her back she was not able to walk out on her own and the gave her back use and did not even give use any instructions on how to care for her. That was Thursday evening. Friday she was getting weeker but drank alot of water which did not help. Saturday morning she was getting worse. I called the Garvey medical hospital they told me to take her in on Monday morning. But unfortunately she passed away Saturday night from international bleeding from one of her stiches coming loose. That's what the 24hr animal hospital I'm passadena told me. I've been taking my pups here for years but after our last appointment here, NEVER AGAIN! Now I have to find a new place, for the safety of my pups. PUPS' REACTIONS I have two shibas. My 3yo cream shiba is terrified of this place and kept shaking so badly that I've never seen before. Her first and second vaccinations, she bled pretty badly-- from vaccine shots! My 5yo black and tan shiba screamed from her last annual shots. They hate this place and as a pet parent, I felt so bad every time I brought them here. The doctor is getting old and I'm not sure if he knows what he's doing anymore. RECENT LAST VISIT Recently, there are new front desk workers that I haven't seen before. When I arrived, I gave my name and pups' names for our appointment and they were unprepared and unorganized. They made me pay upfront and added unnecessary vaccines to their annual vaccination and said it's recommended. Besides that, I only needed one rabies shot but she said I needed two, when my other pup didn't need it yet. We waited around for an hour and they kept taking in new patients! My boyfriend and I were fed up and asked them why they weren't taking us. They assumed our pups had already gotten their shots. But why would we be waiting around?! We got our money back and left. Wasted time and almost wasted money. FYI, they love to secretly charge for every little thing and change pricing or give unnecessary vaccines whenever they feel like it, so be aware. ABOUT THIS PLACE This clinic is very unsanitary. Often it smells due to other pets. It can get really crowded with pets and people on some days. There is barely any air circulation and gets pretty stuffy, especially during warmer seasons. They don't clean the floor often because we found feces on the floor in the waiting area. I picked him up in the afternoon and was told he was paralyzed due to slipped disc. Was NOT given any care instructions, just meds for 2 weeks and possible expensive surgery in TWO weeks. NO INSTRUCTIONS whatsoever. I had to ASK for a copy of X-ray, which they refused to give me, even though I was charged $200 for them. Was told I could take a picture if I wanted. So I did. I even had to ASK for a receipt and a letter for work. Still. No instructions. 3 days later, I took my doggy bag because he wasn't eating and still in a lot of pain. All I was shown, in a matter of 3 minutes, was how to press on his bladder to force him to urinate. Sadly, my baby died almost a week later due to an infection CAUSED because of the negligence of this doctor. Today I called for some compensation for services not provided. This dr refused to help me. I am thinking legal action for negligence or malpractice. Is this how they care for all their patients? Horrible medical service. All the other animal hospitals in the area are super booked-up or request large deposits, but Garvey Pet Hospital was very accommodating when we had an emergency (our indoor cat got out and was wounded on her tail). The doctor was quick to diagnose the issue and prescribe needed treatment/surgery, and he also scheduled two follow-ups to check on the progress. The assistants were also very kind and took time to explain the needed medication and pricing. The office seems quite small but is actually very well-run and efficient, especially since they are willing to slot people in last-minute. Overall, was a good experience and our cat is pretty much fully healed with no further complications -- even after a surgery, stitches, and two weeks of medications (both oral and topical). AMAZING the Front Desk Receptionist was SUPER pleasant, kind, patient and informative, I just can't get over how nice and respectful she was; with all people in businesses behaved like that. We brought our cat Theon Greyjoy here during their morning hours because he had an abscess on his hip. Their initial examination cost us 30$, whereas, everything else (which included the procedure, anesthesia, and take home meds) came up to the grand total of $270.00, which I believe to be reasonable given our boy's condition. Their staff was friendly and informative, the doctor was also kind and professional. The interior of this place is very retro yet calm. Hardly any parking out front, so to avoid stressing your animal arrive during their morning hours or have someone take your pet inside while the driver looks for parking. We are due for a return visit soon to close our boy's open wounds. Fingers crossed for a swift and painless recovery! *Edit: Went back in to get stitches for our boy's wound. I brought my border collie, the doctor did a blood panel, stated he had a high white blood count, that It was a pancreatic infection and anemic, gave him two shots and medicine. My dog was still in pain, making weird coughing noises after two weeks. Brought him back gave him another dose of antibiotics and cough medicine, didn't bother to listen that he was in pain. He just said he needed and ultrasound and told us to find one. Didnt even bother to help us find a place, called everywhere and no one had soon appointments. My dog got worse took him to the hospital and and right away the doctor told us he had blood in his belly he was bleeding internally, had numerous of tumors/ aggressive cancer. How can a doctor miss this with his white blood count!!.. unbelievable. We sadly put our dog to sleep!, I regret taking him here.
