This is the most efficient doctor's office I have ever been to in my entire life and I am a doctor…read more I would know. I came for my 10:00 appointment at about 9:57. They gave me the paperwork which I did in a few minutes, and in the meantime they called my dentist office to get the x-rays. Not 5 minutes later they called me in the back. The oral surgeon came only 3 minutes after I sat down in the chair. He spent more time with me than most doctors do with their patients. Last but not least as I was leaving within 15 to 20 minutes someone emailed me the pricing breakdown, most importantly saying how much I needed to pay out-of-pocket after insurance. The previous oral surgeon I went to... Their office took 1-2 months before they called me with that kind of pricing information.

Short version: Lacks compassion and honesty. Avoid!…read more We came for a consultation in advance of having my daughter's wisdom teeth out. They patiently explained what everything cost, and we put down a deposit to secure the appointment. The day of the surgery, we had an extremely bad experience that could have been avoided. As I was called back after surgery, the nurse assistant coldly lectured me, telling me my daughter was emotional (as some people are after surgery) and not to hug her or comfort her in any way. When I went in, my normally stoic daughter broke down sobbing and the nurse assistant glared at me as though daring me to reach out. On the way home, after I had paid the quoted balance, all my daughter could talk about was how this young woman had treated her while she was half incapacitated. The woman berated my daughter for crying and even told her that she was upsetting other patients. (Knowing that this was not an unusual reaction, she could have discreetly separated my daughter from any allegedly upset patients.) For days afterward, that was the part of the surgery that was the most painful for her. There was no followup appointment, and a month later my daughter was still experiencing discomfort and does not want to go to the dentist anymore. Obviously, we didn't want to go back and risk getting our heads bitten off again and just figured we would let it drop...but imagine our surprise when we got a bill for $613 that they hadn't bothered quoting us for! As it turns out, they had messed that up too and quoted us a bill that was more than 25% less than what they actually wanted us to pay. They agreed to give us a discount on the remainder, but it's not enough. I am giving them two stars instead of one because at least she didn't get dry socket or any complications from the procedure itself. It's just the support staff that was terrible. So, to recap: They were unprofessional, unprepared, and frankly unrepentant. I will never, ever recommend them to anybody.

I was filled with dread about visiting an oral surgeon when my primary dentist told me that it was needed. I arrived at Kentuckiana Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (KOMS) with my heart racing and numb with fear. EVERYONE, and I do mean EVERYONE from the check-in staff, to the dental assistants, insurance staff, and the surgeon (I saw Dr. Walters) were phenomenal! When I sat down in the dental chair (grasping the Oh-SH!t handles for dear life) the wonderful assistants talked with me and did their best to put me at ease, despite obviously being very busy. When my ear buds malfunctioned during the procedure, they even turned on the radio and the surgeon sang to me! How is that for service?! I have some additional visits in the future, but am not dreading them as much as I did my first visit! KOMS have offices on Brownsboro Rd, Cannons Lane and in Jeffersonville, Indiana. I went to the Brownsboro location due to its proximity to my home. Parking is plentiful as the office is in a strip mall. If you need oral surgery, I highly recommend KOMS!

Did you know that male jaw growth can continue and cause shifts through ages 16-18 or so? Requiring surgical corrections and/or second round braces. So.... even once done with a first set of braces keep up on at least a yearly orthodontist check so if correction is needed you catch it before we did. It took months to get just the patient consult appointment and by then we had to take the only date and time for surgery available that would be in enough time to heal, get the Invisalign with a fake tooth built in, & head to college by early August. It was very stressful cutting it this close! However, the oral surgery went smoothly! We checked in not too long after 9 am and he was back to the room for surgery by 9:45 a.m or so. I was invited to go back with my anxious son until time for them to put him under. He took longer than anticipated to come out of it and I got to go back & check in on him then pull the car around while a staff member walked him out. Discharge directions about medications and use of a prescription mouthwash as well as keeping gauze in his mouth until bleeding slowed, and soft diet foods and recovery timeframes were clear. We added in use of the highly recommended by friends face ice wraps which helped pain & swelling significantly. If facing wisdom teeth removal, order the face wraps with ice packs that Velcro around top of your head holding the ice pack holder to your cheeks/jaws. We ordered two on Amazon and had them in freezer before surgery to trade out every 20-30 mins the first 24 hours & a few times daily after. 20% of estimated bill is due the day of surgery or before, pretty standard. No follow up unless a problem post op.

I trust him implicitly which is good because I've had a lot of work done (like six major surgeries in the past decade). He's compassionate, funny, honest, and a great dentist. He cares so much that he gives his personal number to patients when the office is closed and over holidays, in case of dental emergencies. His office staff are also gems. I've known them for years, but they take such effort to learn new patients' names and are truly interested in your needs. They all work very hard to accommodate patients especially when you are in pain or have an emergency situation. Dentistry can be painful and it can often be expensive which is why I value my doctor and his staff. They soften both blows with their helpfulness and warmth. I'll be very sad the day that Dr. Nunnally decides to retire. Until then, I'll appreciate his practice for the rare jewel that it is, a health professional that treats every patient like a neighbor not a number.
