I am leaving this review because of a significant communication issue during our visit today. My…read moremother had a 10:30 AM appointment, and after waiting over an hour with no update, I checked with the front desk around 11:15 AM. I explained that she had occupational therapy scheduled afterward and asked if we would be able to make it. We were told we should be fine. My mother was not taken back until approximately 12:14 PM, and we were then informed there had been an unexpected medical/surgical delay. We completely understand that emergencies happen and that patient care comes first. The concern was not the delay itself -- it was that the front desk and waiting patients were not aware of the situation and therefore could not provide updates. Because of the delay, we had to cancel another medical appointment with only about an hour's notice (fortunately, we were able to reschedule later that day). We also observed other patients experiencing long waits, including people who had traveled significant distances for their appointments. The front desk staff were kind and helpful; they simply did not have the information needed to communicate with waiting patients. Better communication during significant delays would greatly improve the patient experience.

If she is not running a fever, the nurse discourage me from bringing her in. Twice I have had to request an appointment against the wishes advice of the nurse. Both times Dr Walsh has examined her an explained that she was a very sick baby. Additionally, the appointments are scheduled early in the morning. I drive 90 miles because my town does not have a pediatrician. That doesn't matter to the office staff. I am expected to be at their office, usually within 2 hours of my call. So, I have learned to get in the car and start driving, then hope that there is an available appointment. Then, when I arrive I always have at least a 30 minute wait after my schedule d appointment. My time is not respected. However, I called in because I was stuck on the 2 lane highway behind slow moving traffic. I explained that I would be late. I was told not to be more than 15 minutes late. I arrived at exactly 15 minutes after my appointment, and my appointment was cancelled. The office staff on the phone was rude and inconsiderate when I called, and were rude and inconsiderate when I arrived. I have tried twice to change pediatricians because of this. Both times I was rejected by the new doctors because they were in the same medical group. Dr Walsh will give you a very good five minutes of time with your sick child, but is it worth it?
