This is a cute little store front that is really a place to just grab what you want and go. But they always have it super clean and organized. I got two types of gelato: cookies and cream and matcha. The cookies and cream was rich yet super well balanced. Good cookie to cream ratio. The match was incredible. The base for their ice cream was super rich and they obviously put a lot of matcha in it to get that strong of a flavor. I was super happy and devoured it. All in all, if your haven't been here, please try it, it's worth it.

This year, with the mass black-out, Raphio Chocolate has made it easy for me to skip the big box and chain stores and really get some nice treats to share with the people I love, and the people who deserve gratitude. Decadent gourmet chocolate bars including a sugar free option (and yes--they have the Dubai Chocolate too!). I picked up a DARK Milk chocolate bar for myself to try...If you can't decide if you like dark or milk chocolate better, why pick when you can have both in one? They also have these adorable vials of hot cocoa mix for 2...perfect stocking stuffers or stand-alone gifts. I am really glad that Raphio made it through the pandemic and hopefully is doing well. On the southwest corner of Barstow and First Streets in Fresno, California and with an online store available if you're not in the area, you can't go wrong with supporting a local business that makes their chocolate from SCRATCH (they roast and process their own beans!), and they do an amazing job of it! 10 stars if Yelp would let me!

I know everyone love the red wine truffle, but my personal favorite is their lavender truffle. Did I forget to mention that they have sugar free chocolates too for diabetics. Those sugar free ones are the best in town. I wish they have an even larger selection of sugar free chocolates bc those are truly amazing They also sell drinks like the Portervillian ( a specialty latte), various matcha flavored drinks etc. and have a loyalty card for drinks only. I can't wait to find out what else is in store as the months go by. Sometimes I find a sourdough loaf of bread sitting on the counter for sale. Wish I bought it cuz it was only there for like a week.

But on a recent Quilt shop hop, imagine my surprised to discover the Quilt store was two doors down from Stafford's. I think that was a sign that I had to go visit. The double sign was that the quilt shop gave away coupons during their event for one free piece of chocolate. So for my free piece of chocolate, I chose the red wine truffle. Oh my goodness, I had to close my eyes to savor it, the taste was that sensational! The shop itself is beautiful. It has tables inside so you can sit and enjoy their confections. All of the shelves are lined with all kinds of specialty chocolates. These include chocolate covered nuts, truffles, bars, Pops, and all kinds of delicious concoctions. You can order single pieces at the front counter for an individual choice and they will compose a box of your selections. They also had many, many packaged items ready to go on the shelves. The staff were friendly and very knowledgeable about their offerings. They were willing to explain the different flavors; the cost of a box of six individual truffles which you can select was $12.50. There's parking in front of the shop on the street and also behind. It's nestled in the Porterville downtown area with multiple Restaurants and eateries very close by. One could have a fun day window shopping, lunching out and then popping by Stafford's for a sweet treat and to buy gifts to take home. Absolutely not to be missed!

The Chocolate Dipper is honestly a hidden gem here in Merced…read more First off, Brittney, the owner, is just an incredible person. She's kind, compassionate, and has this energy about her that makes you feel welcomed the second you walk in. Now let's talk about the treats. Everything is delicious, but the apples are on another level. I've lived on different coasts and traveled quite a bit, and I've never had apples with this kind of variety, flavor, and quality. They're hands down the best I've had anywhere. What really impressed me too was traveling to different coastal towns in California and seeing The Chocolate Dipper apples being sold in other chocolate shops. That says a lot about the quality and the reputation she's built. On top of being an amazing chocolate maker, Brittney is deeply connected to the community. She's donated baskets, treats, and even her time through hands-on chocolate classes for people in the community, which really speaks to who she is. If you haven't been yet, I highly recommend stopping in and checking it out. You won't be disappointed. My personal favorites are the Rocky Road and coconut apples. -Matt Escobar
