It's a priced as expected for the area and for what it is. Would love to try other products here but I wouldn't likely get another apple product. The apples were all very good, I usually get my usual - cheesecake apple, toffee and mixed. This review is solely for the customer service and overall look and feel of the store. The store has a stuffy, musty smell and dusty. Growing up visiting Mammoth every summer, we'd come in here and it would smell like chocolate and had a cozy feel. Now, coming in here yesterday, no greeting, no thank you, no see you soon, just rude. I regretted buying anything at all especially after spending $36 on just three apples. A small but mighty chocolate shop in the Village at Mammoth area. I believe it is a chain. I wandered in and ended up wandering out with a box of chocolate truffles (multiple flavors) to share with my group in town for skiing together. They were rich and delicious! The person at the register who was suppose to be helpful she was very unhappy and was full of attitude. We wanted to get multiple different flavors, and we spent $60 on apples. Chocolate is chocolate it tasted good but after last Sunday this place left a bad taste in my mouth. I was charged twice by Rosa and she did assured me that the first charge of $3.00 is declined, even though I repetitively said that I see the charge on my account. She insisted that the charge is declined and will not post. This morning, I see that $3.00 posted on my account and I called my credit company to dispute it. Rosa's attitude to the whole thing like she just wanted me to stop talking about it, leave it alone and leave the store. She said "What can I do?", you made a mistake when you were doing something with the register, you were supposed to refund it right there. She refused to do that! I tried to go here twice. First time I went on Friday ~20 min before closing. It was closed early with an employee sitting around inside waving us off. I went again Sunday and once again, an employee closed up shop early. I took a picture where it shows 7:17pm on their store clock when their store hours say they're open until 8 So they close 40 min early...? Crazy way to run a business! We went to get some chocolate and they were closed. No hours were posted so we went online for their store hours. We returned the next evening at 6:30. Lights on, open sign on but nobody home.We knocked, nothing. We left and returned at 7:30. Lights still on and open sign on but door locked again. This time there were two employees inside. We knocked. They yelled " we're closed" . We replied " your hours say 8:00 it's only 7:30" . They turned the lights off and ignored us. The pecan caramel apple was stale and inedible and after eating two pieces, I went to ask if I could get a new one and they flat out refused stating their pecans were fresh. I bought several apples and chocolates and truffles and never thought they would refuse to replace a poor product. I have been coming here since I was a kid and it has not changed. It is still as amazing as ever. All I can say is peanut butter rice crispy treat with chocolate chips!! I love coming here. Everyone is so friendly and they are usually making something awesome. They always have samples. The fudge is probably some of the best I have ever had. We also got some turtles and almond bark. I am sure those were good because the BF ate all of it. I also got a giant peanut butter cup. OMG good. Do not miss this place if you come to Mammoth. It is such a special treat. Don't trust the business hours shown here on Yelp - they are not accurate. We stayed near the Village for a whole week and this place was rarely open. Case in point - Thursday evening around 7:00 p.m. the entire Village is packed with people. There is an ice cream shop directly across from this place that had a line out the door (at least 25-30 people deep). Rocky Mountain? Lights off, closed. I'm sure the rent cannot be cheap at this location and why store hours are limited / appear to be inconsistent is totally shocking. This place should be racking in the cash, but the hours its open per day really limits that. Disappointing. Service was quick, very friendly, and only $6 for an apple. This place is located next to Vons, below the movie theater, and next to Starbucks and it's indoors. I don't shop here often, mostly because of the price. However, if you set that aside, this place has some of the best chocolate and sweets. My go-to here is the caramel apples, which seem to take up half the store. When you take something good and cover it with something better, how can you go wrong? They make the caramel for this in-shop and it is AWESOME. The apple pie one tastes exactly like it's namesake, and my friend swears by the English toffee one. Some of these monsters must weigh a couple pounds! If you have a sweet tooth and you don't do cheap chocolate, this is your place. Having lived in Mammoth Lakes when this business was established, I've always tried to visit when we return. So yesterday we decided to go and pick up some morsels for our chocolate "fix" in the days ahead. First problem was the uncleanliness of the shop. Secondarily, the person waiting on us wipes her mouth as she is picking out a piece from case to the bag! To top it off, the nuts in the macadamia clusters were rancid. Recommendation, stop at Costco on the way up to Mammoth and pick up two boxes of imported chocolates for the same price you'll pay at RMCF for 8 pieces of not so good candy. read more

I loved this place 3 years ago and bought my Toffee Carmel Apples only from them. This year is another story. Very disappointed. I don't know if the apple was previously frozen, but it looked great, so I bought one. Yuk! They apple was mealy. I went back there 3 days later to let them know something was wrong with their apple choice, but turns out seems like ALL apples either bought from the store or here are all mealy. Went to the mall to see about a movie and found myself drawn in by the amazing smells coming from the shop. Stopped in and had the nicest chit-chat with the amazing sisters, Stacy and Susan. (Gosh, I hope I got the names right.) It was exactly the small-town, "come on in and visit for a bit" experience I was hoping for. I sampled a bit and then decided on a chocolate covered graham cracker and a cashew cluster. Absolutely delicious! Yep, I'll be back. Probably tomorrow.
