Their price blew every other quote out of the water and they offered a better shingle and a better workmanship guarantee warranty (10yr). Much to my surprise they were at my house 2 days later installing my new roof on the house. They stripped two layers of shingle, replaced several bad decking boards I had. They do 6ft of ice and water shield. Code only requires 3ft. They made sure everything on the roof was wrapped up, secure and water tight. Then they started putting down the shingles. I mean these guys work like a well oiled machine together. This company does not subcontract out the work. The employees work for J & J. My roof on house and garage looks great, they did a good job of cleaning up. I'm super happy with this company and highly recommend them. My lesson in 2023 - lean more towards the locally owned mom and pop shops and not big box names.

We had L&S give us a quote on a new roof. Gentleman showed up in basketball shorts and t shirt in the middle of winter. Didn't go on the roof for inspection, didn't go in the attic for inspection. Simply climbed 2 steps up the attic ladder breaking a step on the ladder following it up with a comment "this is why I don't go in attics!". Shined flashlight and said "yup you need a new roof!", some attic inspection that was. Gentleman was more concerned about what homeowners did for work to determine a price for quote. Don't flag my review simply because you don't agree with it, practice better business and you'll get better reviews.

It all started when Jake (owner) came to give me a price quote on a Friday at about 3pm and told me I would have the quote before he left the office that day, and sure enough I received it by 730pm. The three companies I requested quotes from took a week, and one I never even got a quote from. The crew was great! Very professional and friendly. They were sure to clean up everyday before they left the job site, and did a thorough cleaning of my yard upon completion of the job. Most of all, the crew cared about their work, as if they were working on their own home! I will recommend their services to anyone and everyone that is looking to do exterior home improvement!

I tried to schedule an appointment with him to come give us a quote and review the job. After giving him a few more details about placement, access, etc,. We set up a window that he could stop by that day. He didn't make it. The next morning, he apologized because he said there was an emergency roof repair that lasted all day - no problem... i get it. He asked if she would be availble that night, we said yes any time between 5pm-9pm. At 7pm we got a message that he hadnt checked his phone and that he could stop by the day after. We set up another time frame where he would stop by, never showed... you get the point. All in all, we were no showed 3 times, and rescheduled several. Not sure if it was too good to be true. If he really had more emergencies pop up. Or if he just didn't want to do this small job... but it was a lot of time wasted, schedule movement on my wifes end to make it work, just for no work to ever happen. Very unfortunate.

I went with Steve because I liked him and he seemed like he knew his business. I placed an initial deposit for the job in January. Work kept being pushed back and nothing was started until Mid-March, which was understandable at the time because it was a harsh winter. The first day of the job was just taking care of some issues on the roof for me. I had an improperly installed ridge vent that was letting in powdered snow. That all seemed to go well, but another week went by before Steve and crew came back to start the gutters and soffit work. Upon arrival, Steve called me to tell me the job was bigger than he thought and he was just refunding my deposit and washing his hands of it. Ultimately, I had to call back the other company that bid on the job and hire them instead. Of course, because it was no longer mid-winter I had to pay more than their initial estimate. When they got up on the roof they noticed that there were no vents at all. Steve had completely removed my ridge vent instead of just fixing the snow intrusion and I had to pay to put a new one in. The other company also acknowledged the complications with my install (some roof joists had to sistered so new fascia could be installed), but they just took care of it for an extra cost instead of walking away from the work. All in all, going with True North on this costed me probably $3-4k more than if I had just gone with my 2nd company in the first place.

We ended up going with the upgraded black 6" gutters, vinyl siding on our house and garage, plus vinyl soffit to match & then aluminum trim to accent everything!! I felt extremely comfortable from start to finish dealing with Steve and his work crew @ True North Gutters. The total job took about a week between removing the old and installing the new and they kept everything very tidy during production, which I was very nervous about at first since we have 2 puppies and 3yr old twins. All in all I give 2 and have since recommended True North to a couple friends so far! You guys are awesome
