Horrible experience, didn't have any instructions a week before my colonoscopy. When I called to ask for instructions and what pharmacy to call in my prep; I was told someone would call me. Never happened. I called again after my prep-registration was sent to my phone. Was told my prep would be called in to the pharmacy. It was not. I went to the office the DAY BEFORE my procedure and was told the provider had not signed the order yet. I'm still waiting in the office. Just spoke to the office manager and was assured the script was sent to the pharmacy. I have grave concerns about the level of care with a place that is so mismanaged. read more

I would give this office a ZERO if I could. To begin with you have to check in yourself by scanning your driver's license and all health cards, front and back and the scanner doesn't work!! There were 2 people right there at the office desk hearing me struggle with the check in and they wouldn't help! Finally I was seen by a NP, Veronica, who was so extremely rude to me I ended up leaving in tears. I was sent to this office by Emerson ER doctor after being admitted for gastro problems. Veronica asked me 3 times "why are you here?". I told her about my symptoms, she saw my labs and the doctor notes. After she asked me for the third time what my symptoms were, I said I had already told her. She told me I had an anger problem!!! I didn't say another word. Just let her type away and watched her leave in a huff. I will never come to this office AGAIN! read more

Routine colonoscopy. Easy peasy. My PCP prescribed, gastro health reached out , we set up an appointment. GH sent all the meds in a single package along with detailed instructions. I received periodic text messages for coordination including reminders, which is helpful for me. The prep is onerous, in particular the five day low fiber diet ahead of the procedure. But, I guess if this gives a better result, I can deal with it once every five years. I had to arrive at 7:30 AM which meant I took my second round of Sutab just after midnight. Lesson learned, never again. That kept me up most of the night giving me maybe a couple hours sleep over the previous 36 hours. I couldn't wait for the general anesthetic! The office experience was straightforward, the people were friendly and efficient. Might have been even more straightforward if ALL the forms had been available online. I'm thinking patient history form here. Otherwise, their automation was terrific. The procedure personnel were all similarly friendly and efficient. The whole thing happened quickly, no fuss, no muss. I woke up easily from the anesthetic, was able to put on my pants standing on one leg at a time. The medical staff were fully present, helpful, even kind, and answered all my questions. Nobody goes through a medical procedure for fun, but Gastro Health minimized the negatives and accentuated the positives. read more

Wow! The people at Middlesex Digestive Health & Digestive Center / Gastro Health are such wonder professionals! I just had a colonoscopy and endoscopy together. I'm 75 so have had a lot of these. I have never encountered such a number of caring, respectful people in all the procedures I've ever had. Md is amazing. Staff is so rude. Normally I don't ask if md is running on time. But today I had to because I can not be late for my radiation treatment that I have to check in 15 minutes early so I went ahead and and asked and the check in girl was so rude I did look I can't be late for that appointment she's like when I have a minute I'll check. I said ok she comes back he's on time... I'm like great but I'd he gets behind can u please let me know. .. boy all she wanted to do was argue with me instead of saying yes no problem. Dr. Hyatt is a fantastic doctor that is helping me with my disease. His assistant, the staff, and infusion nurses all do an excellent job and I can tell they really care about me and aren't trying to rush to the next person. Also the infusion nurses do an excellent job it doesn't take them multiple times to give me an IV they are pros. I don't know about the other doctors at the practice but ask for Dr. Hyatt! read more

When I received the letter he was relocating his practice to Acton , I was devistated.Having undergone many GI surgeries I did not know what I was going to do. My husband quickly reassured me by saying , "you follow the BEST, so that is where you will be going ".Although it is a bit of a drive for me, I would follow him whereever he went. My husbands sentiments were echoed by my primary care physician and surgeon. Two years ago , a relative of mine was very acutely ill. He was in the middle of trying to find a new primary care provider.Again Dr Hyatt to the rescue, he provided him with many resources and he not only managed his GI care but helped him until he was able to establish care with a new primary care. He has given him a new outlook on life and he has tremendously improved his health. As a patient of this place for almost a year, I have only been here a few times and today was the today I came in for my first ever colonoscopy. Understandably, I was nervous and the prep you need to do before it quite uncomfortable and long, however it's absolutely necessary for the procedure. When I got there, I checked in and was able to do so quickly and efficiently. Plus, I wasn't even waiting all that long to be seen. After getting undressed and hooked up to the IV, they started fluids and vitals, and before I knew it I was being wheeled into the operating room. They gave me anesthesia and the next thing I remember was waking up, where they immediately came to check on me and give me some water. The discharge was fairly easily, and I felt completely comfortable and safe with them. Would recommend! read more

This is a long overdue review, but this is absolutely the worst Doctor's Clinic I've been to in my entire life. I would avoid them at all costs. TLDR Version: 1. Misdiagnosed me with Crohn's when it was a C. Diff infection. 2. Rude Staff 3. Not LGBTQ Friendly 4. Doesn't Care about patients nor do they follow up. Long Version: -First, they misdiagnosed me with Crohn's Disease when I had a C.Diff infection that could have easily been ruled out with a simple stool test. The doctor I had absolutely wasted my time, and I was sick months longer than I needed to be. The doctor kept pushing me to take Remicade, with no evidence that I even had Crohn's. Even my insurance denied the Remicade, because they couldn't see why I needed it. And I'm glad they did, because I could have died or been hospitalized had I taken Remicade, which lowers your immune system. Remicade is not something to take if you have an infection. This to me seems like a clear cash grab as Remicade costs thousands of dollars per dose. *For anyone who was diagnosed with Crohn's at this clinic, I would get a stool test at your PCP or elsewhere, and make sure you don't have an infection. My PCP detected my C. Diff infection and prescribed antibiotics, and I've been fine ever since.* -Second, the staff is very rude and unprofessional, especially the Medical Secretary. The medical secretary yells at people, is completely unsympathetic, doesn't listen, and doesn't care about the patients. She's yelled at me over the phone, and another patient when I came into the clinic. She yelled "Are you kidding me, Get out!" to one of the patients while I was there. Now, I don't know what the patient did, but that's no way to talk to anyone, and is very unprofessional. -Thirdly, and this a big one for me, this clinic is not LGBTQ friendly at all. I can't tell you how many times the staff misgendered me, and would not say my preferred name even though I asked so many times... -Fourthly, they clearly do not care about their patients, as I was due for a 3 month follow up, and no one called me to schedule. Not that I would go in anyways, but it proves my point that they don't care. -Also, I assume that since my insurance denied Remicade, this clinic figured they couldn't make any money off of me so they didn't even call me to let me know. I ended up finding out about 2 weeks later when I got a letter from my insurance denying the Remicade. I figured a normal clinic would let patients know within a week, if their insurance denies a medication. Clearly this clinic doesn't care about anything except for money, and that's a shame. -In the end, I'm glad I didn't need Remicade, just some antibiotics. If you stuck with me this far, I hope you heed my warning and avoid this clinic. And for any staff reading this... You outta be ashamed of yourselves... I would give you negative stars if I could since you completely wasted months of my time... read more

I hadn't had a colonoscopy in over 15 years, but had to now because my Cologuard came back positive. I was scared to death to first, go through the colonoscopy, and second, worry I had cancer. I also didn't know what level of sedation to use. Turned out that all went extremely well. The nurses and anesthesiologist from Middlesex Gastroenterology, and Dr. Desimone from Gastro Health, were all top-notch. They all calmed my fears and comforted me. I ended up taking the Propofol after taking the advice of the nurses and anesthesiologist. It was the way to go! I slept comfortably throughout the colonoscopy and woke up refreshed. First words I heard from Dr. Desimone was 'no cancer'. I will go back in 3 years for another colonoscopy (not Cologuard), and at that time, will not worry about a thing. The facility is spacious and immaculate. There's ample parking and the location is very convenient. It doesn't matter how good the doctors are the billing was terrible, after paying over $700 at the time of the procedure we were then sent bills for over $500 for deductibles and anesthesia. Being a single mother a two children they would not work with us at all and sent our bill to collection. My daughter had changed addresses and we never received any of the bills. Even when I paid the bill they still took another $71 for collection fees. I would not use this practice and if you do BE WARE OF FEES. They will not work with you. My daughter was fine and the doctor was nice but we were not informed prior to the procedure concerning all the fees. Beautiful facility, easy to get to, lots of parking. Process is easy to navigate from making appointment to processing paperwork. Everything is confidential and comfortable. Anesthesiologist, nurse anesthetist ,nurses and Dr. Linn were accommodating. Patiently explained procedure and results. Dr Linn was especially supportive, no rushing no chaos. Ive unfortunately had to have 23 colonoscopies in the last 10 years. I had them in the best hospitals in NYC by a pre-eminent colonoscoper...would have gone back however covid put a glitch in that plan so i made alternate plans and glad i did. read more

Dr. Krims and his clinical staff are top-notch: they listen, they co-create treatment plans with patients with mutual respect, and they are not put off by those of us who think "out of the box"and use integrative/holistic healing methods as well as Western medicine. The admin staff is wonderful and well-trained. I recently had an urgent matter my regular doctor wanted checked soon. When the receptionist couldn't find an appointment earlier than 2 months, she told me she was new and went to get a NP, who was able to get me in more quickly. Dr Patel is wonderful. I needed to have an endoscopy due to stomach issues I was having. He met with me and actually talked to me face to face, no looking down and typing n the computer. He was compassionate and caring which you don't see very much these days in medicine because of politics and insurances. He didn't rush me and answered all of my questions. AVOID!!!! This is a horrible place--first time, a half hour wait and then the physician was rushed and brusque, no time to listen or answer questions, so when I had to return, I asked for a different physician. I WAITED AN HOUR. Finally was so upset (I actually have a life and a schedule also) I left. Now I still need to see a doctor but ANYWHERE BUT HERE! (While I was waiting, I witnessed a woman yelling at people at the desk that she had been waiting 45 mins and I dismissed it---thought she had problems. Yes, she did! I would not suggest this place. I've been going here for four years, and every single time (approximately every 6 weeks at least for the last 10 months, less frequently before) I try to change the pharmacy in their system from one that is an hour round trip from my house, to one that's down the street from me. Every single time the person I talk to says "no problem, you're all set" and every time it's not true. It then takes approximately 2-3 weeks for them to remedy the problem going back and forth and back and forth, telling me it's the pharmacy's fault but the pharmacy says they never got it... so that I can pick up my medication (which I take daily, and can't really go 2 weeks without). I have found the staff to be incredibly standoffish about this problem - every time I explain to them and ask them to double check that it's actually been changed, they roll their eyes and tell me they did. To this day, still no success. My doctor also only has appointments on weekdays until 2:00, and takes a lunch break from 12-1, which means that I need to leave work and take a sick day every six weeks to see him. I have had the last straw and I'm switching to a new gastro as soon as I can. While the doctor has done his best and (I assume) given me sound medical advice, I know I can get that from any other qualified gastro and it is not worth the hassle of this dysfunctional office. read more

The wait time is terrible here. Each time at least 45 min. to an hour. One was an early morning appointment with a timed procedure. Going early still meant a long wait and not having eaten the night prior to the appointment made it a challenge. Seems like a lot of staff here but still back ups. Great staff, great doctors. Made the whole process very easy. Once you are in, the procedure goes very quickly, and the doctors, nurses and anesthetists all coordinate to make the experience as comfortable as possible. Dr. D. was a consummate professional and explained the whole process before and the results after very clearly. To the people complaining about waiting, as is the case at EVERY doctors office these days, this isn't a drive thru at McDonalds, getting good treatment IMHO is much more important than quick treatment, and good treatment is exactly what you can expect here. My experience with Middlesex Gastroenterology, and more specifically, Dr. Devarajan. After my initial appointment (which included 8 or 9 blood tests), it was 3 weeks before Dr. Devarajan looked at the results of my blood tests. His assistant called me with the results, and informed me I have cirrhosis. Nothing more. I have never as a doctor's assistant call me and inform me I have a disease. And a number of other doctors and medical professionals I told about being informed by a doctor's assistant that I have a disease, were incredulous. and dumbfounded. During the duration of being Dr. Devarajan's patient, he ordered the following tests and procedures: an ultrasound, an abdominal MRI, an endoscopy, a ERCP (much like an endoscopy, but focuses on the esophagus, gallbladder and bile ducts) and numerous blood tests. And once again, his assistant called me with the various test results, and told me the endoscopy "was fine" and the ERCP "looked great". The total and complete lack of any discussion of my condition (during two appointments) was shocking. During my three months as Dr. Devarajan's patient, most of my knowledge about cirrhosis was gleaned from google search and panicked emails to my primary care doctor. A horrid experience. Made an appointment with them for a routine procedure and then the following day had to cancel. I then received a rude message from the Doctors Asst. demanding to know why it was cancelled. I ignored her as it was none of her buisness. Two weeks go bye and the office calls for my insurance at which point I inform them the appointment has been cancelled. Twenty minutes later the same rude assistant calls pretending to be surprised the appointment was cancelled and demanded to know why. I returned her call and notified her I was a little surprised she was pretending to be confused when I have a voicemail message from her with a time and date stamp confirming the cancellation two weeks ago. No sure if she is just incompetent or trying to set me up for a last minute charge for a late cancellation. If they cant handle a cancellation I certainly dont want them performing any medical procedures on me or any member of my family. After discovering these reviews after the fact Im glad I cancelled, best to stay away from this place. read more

Folks in my line of work (& all others?) don't wait 30 minutes for my attention, let alone 90 minutes. They can let someone else pay for the overbooking doc's Benz. Absolute WORST staff I have EVER had to speak with. Receptionist gave us a coupon for suprep from CVS and it didnt take off as much as they said it would. We went back and forth with the doctors office and CVS. I left because I was told there was nothing the pharmacy could do about the coupon. I called them back after leaving CVS and the woman said "If you would have waited 2 minutes at the pharmacy, we would have fixed this and you could have been reimbursed." Then was told that if I keep "yelling" at them they were going to hang up on me. I have NEVER been spoken to so disrespectfully by a staff member like this. This place is the definition of what is completely wrong with the medical industry. Seemingly doing well by their giant fish tank and nicely kept office its basically just a facade and we can quickly see how they spend their money they unabashedly milk from their patients. I was diagnosed with Achalasia. A rare disorder that makes it extremely difficult/painful if not downright almost impossible to just swallow. Forget food, I'm talking about even just my saliva. Everything gets stuck in my esophagus and I end up vomiting it back out. Needless to say this should be regarded as something that needs immediate attention. Common sense would say as much. Common sense does not reside at Middlesex Gastroenterology. I was shuttled through the conveyor-belt of their system as quickly as feasibly possible just so they could get onto the next patient as quickly as possible. My extremely expensive plain office visits felt incredibly rushed. Any questions I had? Responded to with one word answers. Any suggestions on what I could do in the short term while I wait for them to schedule one expensive procedure after another? Nope. Just deal with it. Sorry. Really? Seriously? Ok so I take it into my hands to do the research and read obscure medical journals from tests conducted in china on temporary relief derived from simply drinking hot water with food etc etc. Isn't this what a doctor IS FOR? Why am I doing THEIR JOB? Better yet why am I paying hundreds of dollars to go in there and ask MANY questions to just get 1 word answers that typically were just "no"s . Even still, I take their advice, set up one study/procedure after another. The icing on the cake is that the final study that needed to get set up THEY had to set it up with a hospital. Did they? One month passed. Two months passed. I call them up trying to get answers. They tell me "sorry we didn't make the appointment..." TWO MONTHS later! and I HAD TO CALL THEM to remind them to do their job?! So they go ahead and set it up and guess what? There's only ONE place in all of MA that does the procedure and I now have to wait 6 more months... I've been waiting now 5 months and have lost 30 pounds and its gotten so bad that I am in severe pain every time I eat. I EAT! So I call them back to get some sort of answers, to speed up the process perhaps, to chew them out because any human would be pissed of by their poor excuse of what they call "care". As soon as they are confronted with a patient that is unhappy with their incredibly negligent practice what do they do? Hang up on me... I highly suggest Middlesex Gastroenterology if you want to have the poorest experience imaginable by the most incompetent "doctors" in their field and the most negligent administrators you may ever encounter. Just because you go to medical school and can perform endoscopies doesn't mean you should be a doctor. Just because you can pick up a phone and press buttons doesn't mean you should be a secretary/administrator. Try mixing in some regard for the patient as a human being going through something difficult. Some simple bedside manner would go a long way. If you aren't up for it than don't go into the field! If you can't do the job WELL with one patient don't try and grab as many as possible. Their regard for the patient as a paycheck or as a thing on a conveyor belt is stamped on every facet of their practice. They don't "care", they don't "listen". Some great examples of their incredible incompetence: - They didn't even tell me that the anesthesiologist WASN'T covered by my provider, so surprise surprise $1200 bill in the mail!... - I'm informed that every procedure to treat my case is either surgery or a balloon that destroys the esophageal valve. I would like to refrain from doing anything that severe until I KNOW its a last resort. Can I do something else? "no". Acupuncture? Chiropractor? Physical Therapy? ANYTHING just to try? "no". I say I heard that recently there is temporary relief with a botox injection. The doctor argues with me that I shouldn't get it done because it only lasts 6 months or so. I say can we just do it while I wait for the last study which is... hey! 6 MONTHS away! "I don't want to do it but I will under significant duress because you want to". Ok so now I have to care about your feelings? Who's the patient here exactly? - The morning of my endoscopy they ask what I'd like to eat and drink after I finish. Crackers or chips and water or juice? I say I literally cannot drink anything cold and that no thanks for the hard food because its difficult to swallow. I wake up to freezing water and chips. - After the endoscopy Dr Krimms gives me this very disapproving tirade that he found food in my esophagus while doing the endoscopy (because I'm not suppose to eat a long time beforehand, which of course I did not) . Hmmm I don't know could it be because I CANNOT SWALLOW, YOU IDIOT!! Do you even remember what you are looking down my throat to identify? read more

I had a second colonoscopy in ten years at this location and had a very positive experience with the procedure. Dr. Herzig and the entire staff are professional, pleasant, and knowledgeable. I needed some after care and they followed up with me the next day. I don't have a chronic condition and these were routine screenings - in by 1PM; home by 3:45. No one likes to prep for these things but they made it as painless as possible for me. So far so good. read more

AVOID this place all together. The staff discriminates against you in more than one way and doesn't focus on what you tell them the first time. Staff didn't have their badges on to cover themselves up. Was refused service after prepping for the procedure. I called my insurance company and red flagged them on the experience I had. Please AVOID this place if at all possible. These people aren't the most professional out there. Do your research and make sure this staff doesn't float to other locations. Some of the staff works in more than one place during the week. NO star rating for them. Look at the past reviews. Why do you suppose they only have a 2 star rating which is a 40%. That right there says it all. They don't have a star for ZERO. For me to alert others it's wrong that I should have to at least give a one star rating as they do not deserve it but it's the only way to alert others about this place.
