Wow! What a great find! I was craving some good Schnitzel, so I looked on Yelp, and this place came…read moreup. I read about it and saw it had a Michelin rating, and the reviews were great! Plus, it was out of the city center, more of a neighborhood place. As fate would have it, I was on a walk and saw that this place was minutes away. It was early, around 5 PM, and they were just opening for dinner. I strolled the streets until I arrived, and walked in through the back, and straight into their beautiful courtyard. The courtyard was beautiful, several tables all set and ready for the dinner crowd. I walked toward the restaurant and saw the daily special board, but there were no staff, at least outside. I checked out the board and saw they had Pfefferlingcremesuppe, which is one of my favorite foods! A minute later, a woman walked out and greeted me. I told her I knew it was a Friday, but would there be a table for 2 available? She smiled and said I could come now or at 8:30- I chose 8:30 as 5 pm was a little too early to eat. I left and came back at 8:30, the place was buzzing, and the courtyard was packed! My dining partner couldn't make it, so it was just me. The same woman was there to greet me, she smiled when she saw me and brought me to a table in the middle of the courtyard. I was seated and given a menu. I ordered a cold beer and perused the menu. While there were many great things on the menu, I already knew what I wanted, so when she returned, I ordered the soup and the Schnitzel. The soup was delicious and a large serving, and when I finished, my Schnitzel arrived, with fried potatoes and bacon, and a nice salad. Even though I was by myself, I immensely enjoyed the atmosphere; this place is all local, all having a great time, and friends greeting each other. Service was on point, attentive without being overbearing, and friendly! I had another beer and enjoyed the ambiance, and then paid my bill and walked back to my hotel. Such a great dinner and experience! I will definitely be back here on my next visit to Baden Baden!

My family was looking for someplace new in the area during a ~1 week trip and Yelp led us here…read more It's rather obscure to find because you think you're in a residential area and then here's this restaurant with a porch and garden seating. Everything we ordered was excellent and service was also quite good. Despite having a main server, there were 2-4 others constantly picking up used dishes at the table and bringing new drinks or next courses. Must-order here is the bratwurst from the appetizer menu and the apple donuts from the dessert menu. Unique and tasty for both.

We grabbed a seat and started to peruse the menu. We had a variety of dishes. Our table ordered the flammkuchen with feta and olives, the pork cordon bleu with fries, the pork schnitzel with fries, and the bratwurst with potato salad. The small salad that came with the schnitzel was delicious. It had a bit of carrot salad, some cabbage salad, and then fresh leaf lettuce and dressing over the top. I didn't try to flammkuchen but the person that ate it said it was very good. I did swap one of my bratwurst for one of the schnitzels. The schnitzel was OK. It was a little on the dry side and it would have benefitted from a sauce of some sort. I took one bite of my bratwurst and fell in love. It was so good that I had everyone a the table try a bite. We all agreed that it was the best dish of the night. I would happily eat that dish once a week. The potato salad was good and I liked the slight hint of acidity. Fries aren't my favorite so it was a nice alternative. The dessert was another showstopper. We ordered the ice cream with warm raspberry sauce. It was very good but it could not compare with the apple rings with ice cream. That may be one of the best desserts I have ever eaten. It was by far the best dessert we had on this entire trip.

Röttele's Restaurant - Asian variation, such surprising flavors and freshness!

Bottom line up front, this was a fantastic experience and the only negative note I will write…read moredoesn't take away at all from the overall rating of 5 amazing stars. This restaurant is certainly worth the Michelin Star it currently has. The castle that Röttele's is part of is a little drive outside Baden-Baden but well worth the €30 taxi ride to get there. Either take a taxi or stay at the wonderful hotel castle because you definitely should enjoy an amazing wine pairing and 6 course chef's tasting menu and no one should be driving after that much spectacular wine. We did the full 6 course but you can do less.... But why choose when you can have all six!? If we had tried to do fewer courses we wouldn't have been able to choose which to leave out. No dish was left wanting. Everything from the Asian seafood sampler to the fresh lamb was more than we could have asked for. And the pairings didn't miss a beat. Starting with a local Riesling from the backyard of the castle! Germans do know how to make great white wine. For pairings they weren't afraid to give credit where credit is due either. To match the tender lamb we got to sample an ample serving of one of the best Bordeaux I've ever had the pleasure of tasting. The menu changes daily to match what's fresh and in season so I won't go into too much detail as I'm sure the menu has already shifted with the changing weather. The only negative I have at all is the atmosphere was a little lacking at 6 PM on a weekday as they only had the back winter garden open. But within a an hour or so the place was packed and happy conversation replaced the missing music. The main takeaway is that Röttele's is an amazing experience and you should make every effort to get out there and try it.
