I hired Mike to install metal and wood fencing back in 2018 to my front property with an electric gate. The work took longer then what Mike said it would be. I had to get a fence up to increase security because of theft on our property by homeless people. Mike asked for a check every week, even though the work was never done and now I know why. He later admitted to me after the work was done that he was doing someone "a favor". This was illegal and I should've reported him to BBB. Which i had to have another company come out and straighten it. The fence line wasnt leveled and the concrete job around the posts was incomplete. We started off with solar panels but the charge didnt hold so I ended up have to hire another company to break into the concrete for electrical access. I wrote a review on YELP and the man literally drove to my house in Concord the next day while I was at work, and demanded to my mother that I take down the post and he would pay me back some money. The only reason why im posting this is because i have since moved and didn't want mike to return to our house to demand to remove the yelp review and harass us. Looks like he wronged other customers in 2018 and maybe he changed to be a more ethical, humblel and professional business man. Good for him! I had a really good experience with Mike. He came out almost immediately after I contacted him. He took a look at my gate and explained to me very thoroughly all of the things he would do to motorize it. He took the time to explain everything very clearly. Then within a week, the gate was motorized just as he said! I have a dual swing gate that is on a hilly street, so he had to do some clever maneuvering to get the gate to function properly (i.e. a sensor and broad reflector mounted in a very precise location). I'm also in a very sunny area, so he went ahead and hooked up a solar panel to power the gate. Very cool. My area is also very windy sometimes so he took that into account and used commercial grade gate motors that would be able to withstand the extreme wind. I called several companies to get an estimate for a gate repair for one of the properties that I manage. The cost to diagnose the issue ranged from $99 to $199. I spoke to Michael and he told me that there is no charge for him to come out. I definitely wanted to work him based on his excellent reviews and getting a free estimate was a no-brainer. He was extremely busy but he was able to check out the gate today, while I was at a meeting. He called to let me know that the motor is working fine but there is a time delay from the keypad. He spent at least a half-hour to make sure the gate worked properly. He told me exactly what needed to be done and did not charge me for his time. He is not a salesperson and emphasized that I do not need an upgrade. He just wanted to save me money. This house is in a nice location and he could have charged me for at least his time. He didn't. Mike came and provide me an estimate for gate operator replacement. I decided to go with him and it turned to be my worst nightmare I was able to imagine! I started feeling uncomfortable when there subcontracts ( other company stickers on the trucks ), they start drilling without any cushions and without calling the pg&e for any case there is gas line underneath at this point I got very concerned and asked Mike to come by and explain what and why the work is done like that? I asked if he is licensed contractor and he claim he is I asked for the license number in order to chack online but he keep saying he will send it to me over later on in the day.
