Despite this water leakage problem, the company is very responsible overall. ---------------- I hired this company to install a fence, and unfortunately, they damaged my irrigation system, including the underground pipeline right under the post. Despite multiple attempts to contact my project manager, I received no response and no callbacks. They responded quickly and I appreciate that they were able to provide a quote that did not change without coming to the property. However, they did not do the work as promised. Meaning that they were supposed to do it all in a day but then the guy that they sent, which was only one person was only aware of doing one side of the project. When I had questioned the other side of the project, he had no idea and told me to call the company. Call the company after some back-and-forth a few few times he scheduled to come down a couple days later. Again, only sending one person to do the job. So it took quite a bit of time. Also, because they did not do it on the same day I had two people do the jobs which meant I have two different types of work done by two different people. Forgot to mention the first guy also broke a sprinkler pipe. The fixed it but before they did the guy asked if I own or rent?! And it is a bit of a challenge, not being able to communicate with them to make sure that things are being done properly. What I've learned today is that they used Redwood, but on one side, the guy I used nails, which everybody knows you should not use nails on redwood because they eventually will come out they should use screws. On the other side, they used inset nails, which should've been plugged and they are not so it does not appear to be smooth. Also, their hierarchy is a bit strange. There's one person that gives you a quote, then somebody who's called a specialist. You have to speak to when you need updates on your project. When the project was over, I replied and asked for an additional quote to fix the attached gate. And have not received a response yet. I will not be reaching back out. read more

Ergeon has done two fence projects for us. The first was great - work was good, price was good and everything was clearly communicated. The second project was ok. Some details were missed in the estimate leading to a proposed cost increase in the middle of the job, and there were some timing issues. They use project managers and are more responsive then competitors, but it does cause a few glitches in the info flow. Still, I would consider using them again. read more

This company invested $ for a nice website, and the process that they are trying to follow is good. Great marketing. However, the execution and employees that you need to deal with for the quote and contracting process are horrible. The employees you deal with on the phone have very limited knowledge about fence installation. Ergeon is a middle man/woman between the 3rd party installers who are NOT employees, and the customer. They provide high level quotes using Google maps, and if ok by the customer the next step is a physical pre-inspection of some sort. Here is a list of the problems. Quote/contract process: We had to deal 5-6 different people and kept getting bounced around to different employees. It became difficult to know who to call with questions, and frankly it did not seem like they communicated much with each other. To make matters worse, the phone employees have no technical expertise regarding how to build a fence. They were unable to answer questions regarding the depth and width of the post holes, which are important in determining the longevity of the fence. How the post is installed is comparable to the foundation of a house. Installation issues: When the installer arrived, he said it would cost more than the contract as his measurements exceeded the quote. If that is the case, what is the point of the pre-inspection noted above? IMHO the fact that the early measurements were incorrect is between the installer and Ergeon, and Ergeon would not step up to resolve it. In addition, our contract called for a higher grade of redwood. When I looked at the bar codes attached to the wood, clearly the installer was using standard grade redwood. Even with all the pictures sent to Ergeon, they were not willing/able to resolve it and reiterated the redwood met the requirements of the contract, even though the bar codes said otherwise. They seemed to be confused and unsure of how to settle this. With all the communication issues, the quality of the fence seemed ok. You may be better off ignoring the marketing hype and working directly with a good fence installer. read more

I had my fence built by Borg Fencing (a reasonable, solid company) who unfortunately sold out to Ergeon. Borg had provided me a 15 year guarantee on my fence, and now 13 years later, 5 posts are rotted. I called the company (now Ergeon) on 7/2 and Rita told me to send photos of the damage and the contract. Both of which I did, the same day. She acknowledged receipt and said I'd be contacted within 3-5 days... 12 days later, I contacted her- no response. 2 weeks later I called them again. The guy said they couldn't find my information in their system, even though they said EVERYTHING had moved from Borg's files to theirs (Borg had done 4 jobs on the property, so I smelled BS). He said someone would have to call me back. I grilled the guy pretty hard, because it was getting obvious they were going to shirk their responsibility. He wouldn't even give me the name of the Supervisor to call if I didn't get a return call. I told them he didn't need my file, I had the contract. He didn't care. I guess I put up enough of a fit, because I did get a call back the next day- and as predicted, they deflected their responsibility like true shysters. After telling me that their purchase of Borg only included covering warranty work for 1 year from sale they actually offered to send someone to give me a quote for "the best price they could offer"! To have the gall to refuse to honor the warranty but be happy to send over an estimator to charge me for a replacement I wasn't even supposed to pay for, was over the top. I'd rather pay someone twice as much than do business with them. read more

They directed me to what shots they needed and with Google Earth views of the property they were able to get all the information needed to provide an estimate that I believed what thorough. After the data gathering, they immediately provided a complete estimate with lots of model pictures of what fence we would get. They answered my technical questions to my satisfaction. The answers were complete an informed. The price was good. They would make billing of shared costs with my neighbor easy. They said the quote was complete and any "surprises" that might come up would be their responsibility. In short, it was the best experience I've had. 1 year update. The fasteners used were not galvanized or stainless steel so they have been causing progressively worsening black stains on the fence since it was built. Has not been the "luxurious" fence that was described to me during my initial design consult. Also the latch broke on one of the gates after about 3 weeks so I ended up having to replace that. The fence itself is structurally sound, I may end up just replacing the boards myself with appropriate fasteners. read more

I was shopping for fencing contractors and Ergeon came up in search, they have a nice website and so I contacted them for a quote. They immediately scheduled a video call, looked at the nature of work and sent the quote. The sales person followed up with me a couple of times on the weekend to check in and see if there is anything else I needed help with. I approved the quote on Monday and a project manager was assigned immediately. They called me the next day to setup an appointment to do a physical walkthrough and it was setup the following day. So far great experience. After the project manager surveyed the site, we asked for a couple of things - one if we could change the fence from silver chain link to black chain link and a quote for trimming some branches to clear the area for fence. A week went by and nobody sent a revised quote. I texted and emailed the sales person and PM who were working on our quote. No reply. I called Ergeon and talked to their customer service who said the person I was trying to reach out to was out of office that day and they would leave my name and number to call me back. Still no response for a full week. Finally after 2 weeks we got a revised quote and some text saying PGE will do a walkthro for permit (to check if there are any gas lines closeby). No heads up was given and a PGE guy showed up one day when my wife and I were at work. Finally I decided not to go with Ergeon because of all these issues. Their sales and marketing is great but execution and post sales customer service is poor. That led me to believe the quality of work they may end up doing may not be up to par either so we went ahead with another fencing company. Ergeon reached out to us after our experience, and I have to say they went above and beyond. They sent out Armando, a regional manager, who spent a considerable amount of time going through every inch of the fence and noting the issues. He found far more things wrong than even we knew about. It turns out we had also paid for full 1x1s around each section to cover the gaps, but we didn't get any of it in the original installation. It's safe to say most of the blame fell on the contractor. A few weeks later they sent out a repair contractor, Ottavio, who worked an entire day and did a fantastic job. We got all of the bad boards replaced (about 10-12), two bad posts replaced (one was twisted, another bowing), badly repaired kick-boards replaced with new single boards, and we even got the gate reinforced and a handle added. The project manager Nestor was also very involved and helpful getting everything scheduled. So while there was a bit of hassle back and forth, I'm super appreciative that Ergeon reached out again and fixed everything. They do seem to be very concerned with the quality of the work performed, which is really reassuring for a large expense like this. I would be happy to do business with them again! read more

Friday Sept 28, my backyard fence collapses in one spot. I put up a temporary fence made up of tomato plant wiring in planters with interspaced boards from the fallen fence. Next day I go on Yelp to get some quotes for 25' of 6' tall fence plus a 40" gate to replace. Magdalena at Ergeon gives me a call, says they require a 2 foot break on all sides of the fence free of vegetation and trees, and asks for pictures -of the fallen fence, not me! I send her pictures of the fallen fence and fence section to be replaced. Ergeon does satellite measuring technology for the measurements of the fence using birds eye views from Zillow of my back yard. October 3 Ergeon sends me a $1500 quote by e-mail, including: 4-year conditional warranty, redwood fence installation within 20 days of the quote being accepted, use of pressure treated redwood posts, pressure treated redwood kick boards and pressure treated redwood rails to extend the life of the fence, and set posts 25%-50% of their above ground height into crowned concrete footings. Ergeon sends out a contractor to actually measure the fence down to the inch and mistakenly measure 28' of fence plus the 3' of gate, and a new quote of $1630. My neighbor who shares the fence, points out the mistake in the measurements, and they revert by to the original $1500 quote. I get two other quotes of $2100 and $1590. I accept their quote, with a credit card number to insure payment. Ergeon calls 811 "Call Before You Dig" to comply with all legal requirements. We come back from vacation and find our driveway marked by chalk markings and flags on the lawn indicating positions of gas, water and electrical connections. Ergeon gave instructions to take measurements in the front yard instead of the back yard! Hope there is no utility connections in the back yard where they will do the digging! Notified by e-mail and text of the proposed day of construction, which I agree to. 9am, day of the construction, a single worker arrives in a pickup truck with bags of cement, lumber and equipment to erect a new fence. Nobody is going to steal any of the supplies from the truck, as a big wad of yellow jackets in a ground nest of my neighbors right next to the truck! The worker laughs when he sees my two Rossignol skis holding up the fence. Juan is his name, and a relative of the contractor, comes from Elk Grove to work on this Saturday. Works with no gloves and no hat, demolishing the old fence, hauling away the debris, digging holes for the posts, erecting the posts, connecting the bottom and top railings, putting in the vertical fence boards, constructing the gate, and finally filling the holes with concrete mix and water. The hole digging could be done a lot easier with a two man auger, but nobody wants to work on a weekend. By 430pm the job is all done, with a 42" gate. Old fence lasted 30 years, longer than my first marriage. New fence should last at least another 20 years. Hopefully my second marriage can outlast this new fence. BTW, anyone want a pair of 20 year old Rossignol skis for free? read more

It's been a month since I approved the quote. The fence should have been up 2 weeks back. Ergeon promised that the fence will be installed within 2.5 weeks. I am sharing the fence with my neighbor. After seeing the reviews online, I convinced him to go with Ergeon. Now I am worried if we have to start the entire process. Update : 3/15/2022 Ergeon team scheduled installation in the March 1st week. I am happy with the workmanship. All the details were inspected multiple times and Ergeon team took care of all the concerns. I am upgrading the review to 4 stars, taking 1 out for the delays to start the installation and during installation. read more

However when the installation appointment came, they efficiently completed the project in just a few hours. We liked the quality of the work and it was reasonably priced. We had Ergeon do our back fence, which included remove and replace 20+ year old posts. Great value, fast team, great workmanship, and they left the area as clean as when they arrived. Ergeon was selected to replace our fence, which was shared with my neighbor. All was going well in the beginning. Communication was good. On the day of installation, the old fence was demolished and removed. They made quick work of it. During this process, our plants were trampled, and a landscaping light was broken. They also drilled holes in my brand new concrete to install a bracket for a fence around the pool equipment. The problem with this was that the bracket faced outward into the walkway. I had to point out to them how this looked awful, and how come they did it that way? They could not explain. I called to complain, and they came out to assess the damage. A new landscaping light was ordered, and they switched the bracket around, leaving open drill holes in my concrete. Keep in mind that if they had just taken the time or asked me, we could have prevented any drilling. Ergeon attempted to fix this, but it looked awful and ruined my concrete. I asked them to consider a discount on the fence and possibly on staining the fence for their mistake. They refused. Honestly, I am disappointed that they made a mistake and wouldn't resolve it by providing a solution to my damaged concrete. There are better professional companies that I would use next time. My backyard fence was replaced by Ergeon, and I really wanted this to have worked out, but... We had a few quotes to replace our backyard fence after a section fell after a windstorm. Ergeon's quote was the most expensive, but my neighbor and I decided to go with it because they seemed the most qualified and professional, at least on paper. However, that perceived professionalism didn't happen in real life. Right from the start, they asked me to allow the project to advance a few inches toward my property because otherwise "it would be much harder and expensive to install the fence". Despite not being very happy I agreed with that. Now, the execution was the real nightmare. In a nutshell, the fence's ending at both ends were poorly installed (e.g., gaps between the new post and the existing ones with adjacent properties), but that wasn't my real grip. The execution and professionalism were disappointing. All the dirt that was dug out to reinstall the new posts was simply thrown on top of my garden and not hauled away. Although we expected some damage to the garden around the fence, the damage was much wider than reasonable. The working crew just decided to spread the dirt and stomp it over our garden assuming we wouldn't notice, and we ended up with inches of soil on top of our bark cover. That's not only it, but some concrete also spilled, and their crew simply left it there, not even worrying about cleaning up after the job. Then it began several talks to ask the project manager to fix the issues, which they agreed to after the discussions. Only if that really happened. My family and I had a travel, and we couldn't stay to watch the fixes to be done. When we were back, the work done in my backyard was laughable, with loads of dirt still stomped and the spilled concrete still there. Which, at this point, we just gave up and realized the losses - we don't have more energy to go back and discuss one more time. read more
