After a few years of back and forth with Walgreens over whether or not they had Adderall XR in stock and/or my prescriptions... A friend referred me to Gate City Pharmacy. There are never issues with stock or communication. The service is phenomenal and I believe they care about making sure medicine is accessible and readily available. While I've never had to wait, the aisles have interesting products to catch attention. 10/10 will always recommend. If you have ever experienced being unable to get medications filled and keep medications consistent- Gate City Pharmacy is a blessing for resolving both. read more

This pharmacy is where I started going when I moved here from California. It's been a long time and I do not regret the decision to trust this pharmacy with my medications. They are friendly, polite, helpful, informative and ready to answer all of your questions regarding any new drugs you are prescribed. They deliver promptly. I love what they have available for non prescription goods, household goods and skin and care all are of the best quality and prices very fair. TERRIBLE SERVICE. I was the only one in the store before the after-work crowd rushed in, and it took them 45 minutes to get my my prescription. The lady filling the prescriptions continued to check with other customers (who came after me) on whether they were being helped or not, all while overlooking me. To add to that, they charge 3x the amount as other pharmacy's to fill the prescription. Definitely worth going to Walgreens instead. It is safe to say that I will be transferring my further prescriptions. read more

This review is more about one employee that keeps ruining my experience at an otherwise wonderful place. I hope the owners read this, and take it seriously, as neighbors and family have issues with the employee in question as well. An older cashier keeps ruining my experience here. No matter how many people I allow to go ahead of me, I always wind up with Fran. She is a wonderful person, and, I'm not trying to be discriminating with her age, or anything like that. Please do not think that is what I mean. It's just, to be blunt, she's a bird brain, fifty cards short of a deck, needs to catch a ride in the clue car, etc. I bring in the list of all four of my prescriptions each month, along with the three almost empty bottles, and what's remaining in the fourth container. Furthermore, I have a typed note with the prescription number, name, and the one that has to be special ordered designated in all caps as being a special order, or using the sticker off the previous month's bottle stating it was a special order, and I need to let them know ahead of time so they can order it for me. Of course, my name, phone number, account, and such are on the page. The page, and the four prescriptions on it, have not changed in at least 14 years, and one changed twenty years ago when I started the list. So, basically, I'm boring, my meds remain the same, and I expect someone to do their best. Yet, despite having it printed out, with everything needed on it, my order is never done correctly. Fran forgets where the sheet is, never turning it in, only gets a few of the meds in the system, puts them in as I'll be back for them the next day, when in fact I'm waiting on them, etc. Then, after completed, she says she just saw my meds, but isn't sure where they are (she was supposed to file them in ABC order), tries to give me someone else's, or forgets I am waiting. Plus, I heard her state the drugs a man was buying or waiting on; a clear violation of the HIPPA Law. Plus, she's usually coughing. I don't want her touching my license to scan it, so I get her germs. I'm a bit of a germophob. Other cashiers can read the necessary info from my license without touching it at Gate City, but Fran says it isn't possible. If I get the same four meds every month, and others can, why lie to me? Really ticks me off, as I really don't want the germs, especially during cold or flu season. If she isn't an owner of the store, I'm not sure why they keep her around. I love everything about the pharmacy but her, and would consider switching. But, as a local business, convenience, great prices, and wonderful experiences as long as Fran's not there, I still stick around. But notice, my review went from five stars to one star (would be less if it could be), after my latest Francapade this week. read more

There's always gonna be a person who has an attitude but when u become a regular there they remember u & trust u . Gate City has been my family pharmacy for decades. They provide amazing service with attention to detail.

This is one of the few compounding pharmacies and small business pharmacies in the area, so I hate to write a bad review. But I've had two bad experiences in the past couple months, so we decided to transfer our prescriptions to another pharmacy in the area. The first time, I sent my husband to pick up medications for me. There was an unexpected gap in insurance coverage because of COVID reasons, so he didn't get them and came back home as we could not afford them. I called in and asked for what options were available, and they said they took a certain app for discounts. We rushed back in because it was near closing time and they knew I was coming. When I got there, they said they wouldn't take that application. I asked what other options there were, and when we finally found one the manager made a snarky remark that it was two minutes after closing. This was a medication that I *have* to pick up the day of (and she knew that) or I will be in very bad shape, and I'd sent my husband earlier in plenty of time and called to let them know I'd be coming back, but she still made it clear I needed to leave. The second time, I was chatting with the cashier, just sharing something short and fun. It's COVID. We're all struggling and I'm trying to be kind. Her response was truly unkind--you know, the sarcastic type of "Well, isn't /that/ nice." type of comment that's, frankly, full of contempt. I went to my car and cried. read more

They might call you when your Rx is ready, or they might not. They might leave a voicemail, or they might not. They might change the formulation of your Rx, tell you it's the same and only the color changed, but add a preservative to it (that you're highly allergic to) OR THEY MIGHT NOT. read more

I have always had great service at Gate City Pharmacy and no real problems. They can even do custom formulations. I thought they would be more expensive as a small pharmacy, but they even beat Canadian pricing for some medications. read more
