I'm not from the area - but my daughter goes to school here. I've tried to get into this location for an oil change three separate times - each time arriving at or before opening time. Each time I was either turned away as they were too busy, or told it would be a 2-3 hour wait. My understanding is they don't take appointments and it is walk-in only. So I gave this location three stars - obviously they stay busy but I've never been able to get in ‍ In their defense - they did recommend me to go to Dipstix down the road when they couldn't get me in. read more

I was in town on my cross country trip from San Diego to Tampa and wanted to visit my nephew at Ole Miss. When I arrived I had a flat tire and brought my RV to Gateway. The manager, Kirk, was so nice on the phone and in the pouring rain, his tech, Michael, fixed my tire and sent me on my way to be able to get on the road again before the snow storm came in. A few weeks ago, I went shopping around for new tires for my car and decided to try out Gateway Tire of Oxford based on the recommendation of one of my girlfriends. I tried calling first to see if they had the tires I needed to price, and after three call attempts, someone would pick up the phone and slam it down.I decided to go by at this pace, thinking maybe this was an issue with their phone carrier. Upon arrival at the tire store, I must say the exterior was very eye catchy, and the store was neat and tidy. I was greeted by a nice man wearing a Gateway uniform who held the door open for me; chivalry is still alive, ladies!! However, upon getting to the counter, I was greeted by a not-so-polite man named Tanner behind the counter. I would best describe him as rude and arrogant. Nevertheless, I still wanted to try to do business with Gateway. After getting some prices, I decided I wanted to shop around for a while longer before I decided. I asked to use the restroom and was pointed in the general direction by the rude salesman as if he couldn't care less. Upon leaving, I watched him pick up the ringing phone and sit it back down, confirming my suspicion that I had hung up multiple times earlier that day! If you choose to do your business here, just ask for another salesman!!!!! College student daughter, with new car had a tire leaking air and I wasn't there to swoop in and save the day. She pumped up the tire and got her car over to Gateway tire and dropped it off all a new experience for her. They called her later in the day and told her to head over and when she got there they handed her the keys and told her she was all set. She wasn't really grasping what was going on, but they basically fixed her tire and didn't even charge her. She was very relieved the tire issue was behind her and was extremely grateful for the help. This is one happy and appreciative dad! read more

I was in town visiting my daughter at Ole Miss. I was not familiar with any of the car repair shops and used Gateway because they were open on Saturday morning. They took me right in and repaired my hubcap and handed my keys back. Said no charge and be safe today. Wow I had no idea anybody did that kind of business anymore? I highly recommend anyone to use them and especially if they have a student out of town and need someone to be fair with them and take care of your child this is the place to go. read more

After waiting over 2 hours for my new tires to be put on, with the TVs all off and no popcorn I finally got my car back and gave a nice tip. Once home I realized that they forgot to put a valve steam cover on one of my tires, so I had to go buy some of those. Which I accepted because things happen, but upon inspection I realized they also forgot to put one of my lug nuts back one (the locking one just to add to the trouble). Since I drive a car that doesn't have a dealership in town I had to order one and since it was the locking one I now have to personally drive to memphis to get a new one because there are over 40 different types. I had a temporary non locking sent to me, but going to gateway has cause me a headache and more out of pocket money for their mistakes. Very disappointed would advise against using! read more

I'm in town from Georgia visiting my daughter. Yesterday my car indicated low tire pressure in one of my tires. I filled it with air, but this morning the tire was low again. I called/visited a number of places, but all were busy. Gateway was busy too, but said that they would try to fit me in since I would be waiting. In less than two hours, they were able to get my car in and fix the tire that had a nail in it. And for reasons completely beyond my comprehension, they did not charge me for this service. I can't thank these guys enough. I was needing to travel back to Dallas (7 hours) after visiting my son at Ole Miss. I had a nail /screw in my Brand new Tire of which I had only bought on Friday, prior too my trip. These guys were completely booked all day. Not only were they kind and helpful, they understood I couldn't wait all day or until the next day to get this repaired. They fit me in and got me on the road in 20 mins. They even let my Maltese come inside in the waiting room so he would not get to hot. Really really appreciated everyone of the guys and they did an outstanding job. He rebalanced all 6 tires, even went to the trouble of transferring new tire on spare as 1 of the original rims was slightly warped and unbalanced and corrected alignment again. All at no charge. It's Black Friday, and the staff at gateway are extremely professional and courteous. Stopped in to mount some new four wheeler tires. The service advisors to the techs are very nice. I had a tire blow out on my brand new car. They showed me the split in the tire and then spent time looking for one. They could not find a tire different size but referred me to their competitors without hesitation. I ended up finding a tire in Memphis drive up there on the doughnut but three hour wait to have installed. Called Gateway and they said come back and we will get it on. 16 minutes they had my new tire on, spare put away and trunk cleaned up from where I flung my jack after spending 20 minutes on the side of I 55 changing the flat. The cherry on the experience was they gave me a discount on the install because I went and got the tire. My car alerted that I had low pressure in my tire and took it in at 4:00 pm and hoped that I could get it fixed in time for me to keep a dinner date with an old friend. I made a trip down to Gateway tires and service center in Oxford Mississippi today to get a simple patch put in my tire. I showed up to get my vehicle and went to pay they told me it was free!!! I was excited to hear that the work was free!!! About three steps out the door I started thinking they did something to my truck cause life is never that simple! A few step further towards my truck I see my previous conclusions were spot on as I observed my 3 month old wheels had lost some paint and aluminum!!!! I was too upset to try and handle the situation then and there. I called them as I left the parking lot and explained what was going on and their (manager) said bring it back for me to have a look. As soon as I pulled back into the parking lot an employee unprofessionally approached me and yelled "what's wrong with it?"I walked over in a very understanding and calm manner and showed him the damage to the wheel. The Worker then admitted that he damaged the wheel... and I quote " well didn't they give you the patch work for free..." as he pointed to the damage on the wheel and kinda mumbled and realized he was admitting what he did, he stopped talking mid sentence and walked away. To "solve" that issue they did indeed give me the $20 buck job for free... but the wheel cost me 180+ I don't remember the exact number. The manager then came out with the employee and observed my wheel and yet again I explained what was going on. The manager then briefly felt the damage with his finger looks up at me and said one second let me go take a look at the machine. I watched him walk in the shop with the employee ask him which one he used. Then I saw him walk over pick at something on the machine and throw is out and on the ground... which I am guessing would be the paint that was missing from my wheel. He then returned to my truck and begins to walk around my truck and finds the only other spot that has curb rash on it and says and I quote "look that's the same thing." Mind you I have only ran over one curb and I know the exact damage location I actually have a video from when it happened and how upset I was about it. Nobody else drives my truck which is besides the point I know my vehicle and it's flaws. Then he begins to tell me it was impossible for his employee to have done the damage. I asked him is that it... your just gonna tell me I didn't notice damage on my front drivers side wheel... he looked right at me and said "yep " and walked off. read more

Gateway tire has been my number one choice for many years. The service is excellent, the people care about you, and the reps behind the desk know usually what my problem is before I even finish telling them. Iv'e noticed many reviews of the negativity towards this company and I would like to state this for the record, sometimes it is not the car, but the nut(owner) between the steering wheel and the front seat that is the problem. People remember, a company can not help the ignorance of the customers who do not know anything about a vehicle. These guys are GREAT! Listen to me and go by and see them! This was the worst service. I called in the morning and asked if they had time for my car and I was told yes and to bring my car in. I took my car in at 8, never received a call all day about my car, and showed back up at 5:30 to pick it up. When I arrived they hadn't even LOOKED at my car yet! I was told they wouldn't even look at it until the next day because "they ran out of time". Not only did they not call me about this and let me waste my whole day with it there (while I took taxis around town all day), when I decided to take the car home because he told me they might not even have it done tomorrow...they couldn't find my car keys. They were lost somewhere in the car. And no one helped me find them. They should be utterly embarrassed. read more

I had a HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE experience here twice in a row now. First of all, about 10 months ago, I got my oil changed here. It had been cold, and we had some wintery mix. For the most part, it had cleared out, except on the side of their building that had been shaded from the sun. Long story short, they parked my car on the ice patch when it was done, so when I went to get in it, I slipped and fell. I fell hard! What bothered me is that I went inside to tell them, and they didn't seem like they cared. They didn't ask me if I was going to be ok or even offer me band aids to clean it up or anything. Heck, they probably continued parking customer cars there! Well, I was reminded of that experience earlier today when I got a flat tire. I was trying to remember where I bought my tires, because I knew I bought them in the last year and had bought a warranty on them. I remembered what happened with the ice situation, so I thought it was here, but before driving it here on a flat, I decided to call and make sure. The guy asked for my phone number and then proceeded to tell me I would get credit for any tread I had left. So, I drove it there. I got a call around 11:45 saying I needed a new tire. I asked what kind of credit, and the guy informed me I did not get that tire from there! WTH!?! That's why I called before I went! I told him I needed that tire back so I could get credit from whoever I had a warranty with. He said ok. I agreed to let them change it but stressed to them again that I needed to keep the damaged tire. They said it would be ready in 5-10 minutes. WOW! Ok! My husband and I headed that way, but when we got there, it was still elevated, so we thought we would go eat lunch while we waited. I got a call at 11:59 saying it was ready, and they wanted to know when I was coming to pick it up. I told them after I ate lunch. That's when he informed me that they close at noon and I had to pay over the phone if I wanted them to leave me my keys! What? You waited until 11:59 to call me to tell me it's ready and that you close in one minute! OMG! Ok! I stressed again that they leave me my old tire because I needed to get credit for it and also asked if they could check the tire pressure. He said they always do that! Of course they were closed when I got there, and guess what... MY OLD TIRE WAS NOT IN MY CAR AND THEY CHARGED ME A DISPOSAL FEE FOR IT!!!! AND... They did NOT check my tire pressure!!!! I had one at 34psi, one at 39, one at 47, and one at 49!!!!! WTH!!!! I don't know much about cars and tires, but I don't think that's right! Usually, when I have a balance and rotate done, they are all around the same number! I am also missing some stem covers! I tried to call them, and of course they have no answering machine! I HOPE THEY DON'T DISPOSE OF THAT TIRE I TOLD THEM MULTIPLE TIMES I NEEDED BACK!!!! read more

If you want to get f*cked, this is the place for you to go. I was changing some wheels on my truck and broke one of the lug nuts. It was still enough left on the nut for someone with a stripped-bolt tool and an impact wrench to get off. So I logically though that surely a tire repair shop would be able to help me, right? WRONG. I dropped off the truck and they called me within 2 hours to say it was ready. Turns out it was not ready, after driving 20 minutes from my house back to the shop. Not only did they not fix it for me, they BROKE OFF THE STUD ON AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT WHEEL. Here's the real issue, they told me it broke off, but I assumed they meant the one that I had already messed up. So I was completely in the dark about the separate wheel until I saw it almost 5 hours later. To add insult to injury, they fixed their screw-up but could not fix mine. How convenient. And they charged me ONE HUNDRED AND FOURTY DOLLARS for their mistake. While mine is still intact. These guys suck. The communication is bad. The guy working behind the counter was a dick. Worst. I have had horrible service at this shop, not once but twice. The first time I came here to have a set of tires mounted on my news rims early in the morning. I had to call them later that day because they were close to closing and had not called me back. Keep in mind even during a busy day mounting tires shouldn't take any longer than an hour. They wanted me to leave the rims there overnight even though I had left them there for the whole day. They gave me the run around saying things such as they couldn't balance them correctly and they couldn't do it correctly because one of the tires kept leaking air. The second visit I had was today, if they weren't one of the only places available here in Oxford I would not have even gave them a second chance. I dropped my car off at 9AM for an alignment and again they had not called me all day so I gave them a call at 5PM. I asked how they were doing and was told they were finishing up. So I sent my girlfriend to pick up my car while I was in class. They told her they could not do the alignment because my wheels were too big and their tools couldn't fit in where they needed to. They also said my wheels were a bad fitment for my car. I have taken my car to many other shops on the coast and have had no problems getting it aligned correctly even when the car was lowered (which it currently isn't). I have a Honda Accord 8th generation and the wheels I have currently are only 19x8.5 with 245/35 tires. There are many people I know of who run 20in wheels with no problem getting an alignment. These cars come stock with 18in wheels and I know for a fact an inch with the right offsets will not heavily affect the car. On top of telling me they couldn't do it (after they said they could) they charged me a $20 "inspection fee". They did nothing to my car other than keep it at their shop all day to tell me they couldn't do it and forced me to pay the fee after I complained. These people are unprofessional and not courteous at all. To have to pay for services that could not be done is ridiculous and I will not be coming back nor suggesting anyone come here for future services. read more
