When measuring some of the other stations on the Amtrak line, this one is a little more gnarly. This doubles as the Greyhound terminal. As some reviewers have pointed out there are some interesting characters, but I do find it safe Pros: +The facility works. Easy to get on and off the train. +Maybe it was it was just the days of my visit, but I found the rest facilities well kept. +Plenty of seating. No issues there. +Unlike a plane you do not have to arrive hours in advance. They will let you board up to five minutes prior to depature time Cons: -Those inexperienced with Amtrak might feel totally lost on what to do when they get to the station. It's not like an airport where everything is spelled out, and there's not a concrete necessity to do any kind of pre-check in. That may prove challenging for those who get any anxiety when travelling -The entrance is a PAIN to find, even with GPS. First timers should give themselves ample time to find the place -Not a huge fan of parking situation. Would recommend uber or friends for pick up and drop offs. Bottom line: Its not as nice as travelling out of an airport, but I was pleased. Would travel out of here again

Sleeper room. Super private and quiet with a door that locks.

It's loud, confusing and people running everywhere with so direction it seems sometimes. When in doubt ask. The cafe needs to be renovated. It is in a rough states of affairs. I understand the sense it made to combine amtrak and grey hound but the confusion it creates at times is mind boggling when you have train passengers accidently getting on a bus or vice versa. You wouldn't imagine it happening but it does. Or people constantly getting on the wrong train because nobody uses the intercom. They yell announcements and nobody can hear past 12 feet because of the crowd. The craziest experience I have had would be the shuttle van from Carbondale station to the St Louis Station. Way too many people crammed into a van that is too small. It's been an anxiety riddled roller coaster every time I've taken it. But it is the easiest way to get to the train headed to New Orleans to see family. Once you are off the van it is easy sailing. The Security at St Louis Station immediately kicked out a guy who rode with us in the van because he thought he was a vagrant. The guy rode the van, was waiting on a ride. The security guard said "did you just get off the train"? . He said no, I just got off a van. He said there haven't been any buses get out of here. Kicked him right out and they started cussing. Escalated and everything. It was a mess. I wish they could make some serous improvements here.

It is the station closest to the famous Gateway Arch and there is signage pointing the way. It was opened in 1993. There are the usual ticket vending machines. Metrolink is a proof-of-payment system meaning that there are no turnstiles and you must validate your ticket before boarding the train. The station has side platforms, which means that the doors will open on the right. It is on the section of the Metrolink that services both the Red and Blue Lines, where it is between Stadium (towards Airport and Shrewsbury-Landsdowne) and Convention Center (towards Shiloh-Scott and Fairview Heights). The station is fully disabled accessible though there are multiple exits and only some are so configured. At street level, you'll find apartments, office buildings and retail shopping. There are separate entrances depending on which direction you are traveling, so check to see if you are entering the westbound or eastbound entrance. Given the location to the Arch, I found this station pretty sketchy. It is operational and not derelict, but it is in need of a deep clean as it has the foul odor of urine. I avoided lugging my carry-on on its floors and opted to carry it to avoid its stench. Wait times for a train are about 20 minutes, so I would check the train schedule to spend as little time here as necessary or get on at another stop that is not as suspect. The Convention Center stop is marginally better if you do not mind walking a few blocks north.

It is easy to get to and is on the honor system. This station has a kiosk at the top of the stairs that you purchase your fare from. They do have some security people walking around the station on occasion, but they really kept to themselves. This station lets off right at Busch Stadium. Gateway Arch Park and the Old Courthouse is within walking distance of the station. Luckily, I was here while the Cardinals were on the road. I can imagine that this place gets crazy on game days due to its sheer convenience. Now the bad. While on the train, I saw a fight, someone smoking (I do not know what they were smoking), someone playing loud music from their phone, and someone drinking alcohol. It was wild. Anyway, the train was pretty close to its scheduled time and was relatively clean, all things considered. Would I ride this train again...Yes, you can not beat riding all around town for $5 for a day. I would just caution you that you will more than likely encounter some shady characters on the train and at the station, so just beware.

For my dad and my purposes, MetroLink was perfect. We were staying near the airport and had free shuttle access through our hotel, and we were in town to see a Dodger-Cardinal game. We rode the Red Line from Lambert Airport Terminal 2 Station to Stadium Station and back. I had no idea what to expect, but knowing that the system comprised only two lines (and that these two lines were the same for basically half the system), I thought it might be bad. In fact, I thought it might be really bad. The trains themselves are fairly clean, and although the seating could be a little bit more efficient, the huge windows really do make the experience more relaxing, especially in a crowded car like the one we rode back from the ballpark. But MetroLink has a secret that it keeps, and I have no idea why. When we came to St. Louis, the temperature was in the 90s, with humidity near 97 percent. (Yes, the baseball game was hot, but thankfully, we had covered seating.) Soon after finding seats in the train, we realized it was cooler inside than it had been outside. How was that possible? Then, two stops along, we heard a mechanical sound, and delicious freezing air came rushing into the car. This wasn't a fluke, as we experienced it on the ride back as well. MetroLink has the finest, most heat-destroying air conditioning that I have ever experienced on public transit, and I've spent a lot of time on public transit. So those two rides on the Red Line were blissfully comfortable, at least in terms of ambient temperature. Both trains had lots of really loud, obnoxious, doing-too-much teenagers; but I've grown to expect most of that on public transit. I never felt personally in danger, although there was a train-car argument that included six or seven teens of both sexes and on all parts of the train car yelling and cursing at and calling one another out. That beef eventually spilled out onto a platform at one of the stations, where a fistfight ensued, but once the beefants were off the train, everything was quiet and relaxed, and riders started making jokes about how random and sudden the argument had been.

How inconvienent of them to force a sign in on 1 device only over a $1.00 ticket purchase.I have 2 iphones that I use daily and have been going through unnecessary sign in issues while trying to get to work on metro! I could not purchase a ticket on my new device after 3 times of going between both. A conveinence I should be able to have! Who wants to steal a bus ticket? How is that possible when both devices are held by its owner? This app should be smart enough to allow a sign out on 1 device in order to use the app on another. I was forced to call metro transit via the app while attempting to purchase a bus ticket to work once again. Trevor rudely stated that "You will continue to be locked out of your account if tou continue to attempt to use another device. " Saying sternly as if I were a child that "you cannot be signed into 2 devices at once" Why not if its my account?!?!?!? Metro truly needs to update this ancient working app into 2026. This so called security if my account can have me stick on the street with no fare as I don not carry cash. I shouldnt have to as this app was supposed to be for a riders conveinence and it is a complete pain! Which is odd as it would randomly sign me out on my 1 device before I obtained 2 after I purchased fare! Havibg to sign in over and over to show my fare to these rude drivers that demand it in order for me to get to work.I now have to wait 8-24 hours according to Trevor to receive an email in order to give metro my money from my own account that clearly no one else has access to! This is not a helpful security option whatsoever. Changes to this app should be made! Customer service could be better regarding this mess of an app!
