I especially love it when simplicity and genuine passion is served, not just presentation. Anyway, to start off - this market, and it's a market, not quite a restaurant. When my friend and I stopped in, there was one table, four chairs. Since we were there late, we were able to sit and dine in. Sitting and eating there allowed us to chat with Kojo - the owner. Learning not just about the market but his history and his passion for what he does. Switching gears again - the market is in a huge shopping plaza. Lots of parking. And free. As for the food - see the pics. Dinner pics is mixed in with what was left in the market. I can't even begin to explain how much I enjoyed the flavors of the dishes he made on the spot for us. As we were there late in the day, most of the popular dishes were sold out however, he made a few suggestions, even two that were off the menu and made it to order. When we were there, it was a one man operation. So he was also our host and server. If you couldn't tell - service was excellent. Chatting about food. About seafood. About the beginning of Gulf Port. And about life in general. This is one of those places, that if I lived there - I'd frequent the place just because of him. It's just too bad that me going there requires a plane ticket and a five or so hour flight. But, also know this - next time I fly into Nashville, I'll make my way to Hermitage and have more delicious, fresh seafood.

**April 2025: Saturday Evening Visit**…read more My friend and I wanted to eat somewhere in the Hermitage area since that's where we were staying and Gulf Port Seafood had really high ratings, which were 100% well deserved. I should preface this by saying that Gulf Port is a seafood market first and that they have one table (4 chairs) so you can dine-in - but space is limited. Kojo, the restaurant owner, has both raw and hot options for patrons to enjoy. We came pretty late on a Saturday so many of his popular items (gumbo and lobster roll) were sold out, but we decide to try his other offerings which were delicious. We ordered the 2 orders of Cajun Crawfish Roll (methinks $15?), Seafood Mac & Cheese (methinks $20?) and Shrimp and Grits ($20? maybe) and all were made to order and brought to our table in a timely manner. The Cajun Crawfish Rolls came out first (I guess one order is given two rolls) and we demolished it. The toasted bun had a nice char, but was fluffy on the inside and the cajun sauce gave the crawfish nice flavor. We devoured this and were really impressed with the item. Next the Seafood Mac and Cheese came our as well as the shrimp and grits. The Mac and Cheese had such a great blend of cheeses and the noodles were cooked al dente. The grits on the shrimp and grits were scrumptious - not mushy at all and the shrimp was cooked through. Everything tasted very comforting and the prices are very reasonable! Overall, this was definitely a highlight meal of my Southern States travels and the next time I'm back in Nashville I hope to try the gumbo and lobster roll!

This little Cajun market used to have a spot in Nashville's Germantown, a modest building now occupied by a Taco Mamacita. Sadly, Music City lost a reliable purveyor of unique seafood that still lives on in Clarksville in an equally humble space. And thank heavens it does! I've been planning to visit Little's for about 10 years now to complete my experiment with fried alligator and fried frog legs. And I finally got to put their products to the test with a two-hour, round-trip drive followed by a full scale cooking test at home. I acquired the alligator meat and frog legs in the frozen section of this tiny store, items you simply cannot find in Nashville. I also couldn't resists the breaded fried clams also in the freezer. And I went home to commence an extensive culinary adventure. I leaped into Leap Day of 2024 by frying up my secret recipe for Nashville Hot Frog Legs. And thanks to Little's selling frog legs of exceptional quality, this is one of the best things I've cooked in the last five years! Juicer than chicken, good enough to win competitions, and worthy of starting my own food truck, this would have been impossible without such an impeccable product! And the best-kept secret might just be their frozen fried clams, nearly as good coming out of my deep fryer as the best versions I've had in Maine and Massachusetts! The alligator was pretty good, too. Let's just say that I'm an excellent gourmet cook, but I'm only as good as the quality of my ingredients. And Little's did not disappoint!
