I was very eager and exited to find furniture for my business space. When I went, I was thoroughly questioned on who, what, or why and where my purchase would be going. Yvonne a small lady with some highlights and glasses tried to convince me that " you don't have the budget and they ( Gavigan's) dont have what I'm looking for" even though her fellow employee was doing her best to see what could be done in the time frame that I asked. Don't buy Southern Motion furniture...many pin nails protruding through fabric, a few screws sticking up under fabric. Dont buy the Serveco warranty. It takes months to respond, if only with a lie. We ordered a dining room table and chairs in June and had to wait 14-16 weeks for it to be delivered. We understood and accepted that. However, when it was finally delivered, they gave us a bar height table (which was not what we ordered) and table height chairs. They took back the table, this was around September 29. We had gotten rid of the table we had the day before this was suppose to be delivered. When we called Gavigan's about getting the table we ordered, we were told that they couldn't even "call" about getting us the right table until Friday(???) Never heard from them. When my husband called last week , he was told it was on the truck from whereever it was being shipped and they would call us. Still nothing. I called again today and was again told it was on the truck and when it was delivered to them, they would call us. They couldn't tell me where the truck was or when it would be received because they "don't have the truck manifest" and "all i can tell you is we will call you when it hits our warehouse". I told them I'd now been without a table for 3 weeks and she wasn't giving me any answers. Her response "you are getting answers, just not the ones you want". I advised that I wanted a discount on the 1K+ we paid them and her response was "you won't be getting a discount, we don't do that." Wow. Some customer service, huh? I wish my husband would have read all the negative reviews of this place before making our puchase there, we certainly will not buy there again. read more

After purchasing a living room of furniture at the Forest Hill location, they delivered it. After 10 minutes of attempting to bring the couch it was determined it was too big. I was at work and wasn't able to help. They took the couch to the warehouse. We went to the store the next day to talk with the manager 'Mary' She was condescending, confrontational and not friendly at all. Their policy is a 50%( normal is 10-25%) restocking fee. We said that was excessive compared to her competition. Her response was 'I don't care about other companies, I only care about Gavigans'. She eventually lowered it to 30%. Our bill of sale was not itemized and we asked her to do that so we knew how much the couch cost. She went back to get office, came back with an itemized bill. The new bill showed a 'finance charge of $119. 34. (We had financed the furniture through Mariner and was given 12 months FREE financing) When I asked her about the charge she said it was part of the deal and she made a mistake showing it to me!! It is illegal to charge a fee without disclosing it on the original contract. I attempted to have BBB help but gavigans refused. They are a greedy , non caring, selfish, not customer friendly company that I would recommend staying away from. We went to Jarrestsville furniture and bought a couch 3 days later. My husband & I purchased a power sofa and love seat recliner on January 1, 2021. We explained to the furniture store that we are a military family living on APG military base and they assured us delivery/repairs would not be a problem. The next day we called & scheduled a delivery date for the following week. When our furniture arrived, the delivery men set it up and tested out the power feature on the recliners. All of them worked, except one. The last one was able to recline, but was unable to go back down. He tried everything, but he couldn't fix it. He stated that the motor was broke & that we needed to call the repair shop on Monday to schedule a service date. This was a slight inconvenience, but not a huge deal. We called & unfortunately the next available service date was for a month later. I asked if our location would be an issue & the representative told me it would not. This was another inconvenience, but again, not a huge deal. On the day of service, we got a call stating that the repair guy couldn't get on the military base because he didn't have his license. This upset us because we were told this wouldn't be an issue when we initially purchased the furniture and again when we scheduled the repair date. Also, why would you send someone to drive on a military base without proper identification? We were given a new service date scheduled weeks later and was told this would not happen again. On the day of the second attempt to repair our furniture, we got another call stating the repair man is having the same issue as before, except this time his license is invalid. This time we are beyond angry. How the hell did you let this happen again? I can't even get an apology from the representative. All she can say is how unfortunate this is and how she can schedule a new date. My husband decided to call Gavigans and see if they could help us, because we wouldn't be in this situation if they had not sold us a broken sofa in the first place. All we got from them were a bunch of excuses and how it's not their responsibility but an issue for the claims department. Received my six piece dove gray sectional today andcouldn't be happier, everything came in boxes so it was much easier to get through the door than I thought, the deliverers were courteous and very quick in setting it up, everything works great and I specially like this sectional because it has a higher foam density which gives me more support, three of the pieces are power recliners. Very upset. I with GAVIGANS furniture. I ordered 2 loveseat recliners and they were delivered broken. I contacted the store before the delivery guys even left. They swapped them out with 2 new pieces but again they were damaged as well. Only worse! They sent a repair guy out who says the motor was bad and would order a new one and tightened up the arms that were falling off. But within a week the arms started to separate again and now the recliner will not put the leg rest down. Now they are saying it is owner error... i literally had it at that point 2 weeks!! Gavigans sd we were pretty much shit out of luck. I'm currently out $6000. IDK what to do at this point. Just horrible customer service. No accountability. I was a little disappointed I couldn't return a piece of furniture I didnt end up wanting right after deliver. The receipt/invoice was pretty shitty too. I couldn't read the handwriting. Hard time getting the names of products I purchased. Like it's 2021 and you sell overpriced furniture but don't have an online computer system for in store sales? But yeah, the workers are friendly and they were up front about the covid delay and I actually received stuff sooner. The delivery guys even put my bed together and they're nice too. read more

I do really like Gavigans; they have a nice selection, the salespeople are generally very helpful but they do not stand behind the products they sell. I purchased this side table along with a bedroom suit back at the end of November in the Forest Hill store. The piece was delivered to storage while I was moving and stayed there until the end of February. Shortly after I moved the furniture in I needed to move the table to do some other work in the room and when I picked the table up the top came apart from the base and the base broke in two when it fell. I found that one of the bolts was missing from the bottom side where the table top connects to the base that caused the other screws to pull out of the actual sockets they screw into. Interestingly I also found when the base broke that the item is not solid wood as I was told in store but some sort of plywood looking material covered in resin. This is sort of a side note that doesn't necessarily bother me except that it makes the table seem overpriced even at the black Friday sale price. I have been in contact with their support via E-mail who only offered me 2 options. Buy a new table at the price I originally paid or bring it to their repair center and let them attempt to repair it at $100 per hour with an estimate of 3-4 hours note the high end estimate it more than I paid for the table. I asked them to reconsider and they are no longer returning my E-mails. All issues are handled remotely by what seems to be one person via E-mail only. You do not have the ability to talk to anyone or deal with the issue in the store. So I assume at this point that I am stuck with a broken table. Alienating a customer who has spent roughly 10,000 dollars in their store in the last few years over a 300 table probably isn't a good business strategy but that's where we are and for that reason I cannot recommend Gavigans and I really wish I could. read more

My wife and I went into the store just to get ideas, as we will be replacing our sectional in 2-3 years. We were, of course, greeted by a saleswoman named Yvonne. Explained we were just looking; not ready to purchase. For the next hour, we were relentlessly hounded, instead of being left alone to browse. Ok, whatever. Once we finished looking, we left. This woman, Yvonne, came running out to the parking lot, and said the following while walking towards us: "What? Do you just leave without saying anything? Some of us work on commission, you know?" This, as she's reaching out her card to us. I took the card only to remind me to write this review. I was pretty sure I wasn't going to do any future shopping there, just because of the high pressure tactics (which I hate), but Yvonne has made that a definite. Please do NOT shop at this store. I purchased a dining room table, 4 chairs and a matching buffet. When it was delivered, the chairs had scratches and the table legs were not finished properly. I could see the bare wood through the finish. But the worse issue is that the table and chairs are a different color from the buffet. Gavigans does not care! They will not take this furniture back. They will not order a table and chairs to match the buffet. The cost for this garbage which Gavigans sold me was $5057.26. Money totally wasted. Gavigans does NOT stand behind their merchandise. After only having product for a few weeks the bench broke when a family member sat in it. We were told that someone would come to fix it but it has been months and we have heard nothing from them. I called Gavigan's warehouse to check the status of our order and was told that someone left me a voicemail three weeks ago, stating that our furniture was ready to be delivered. Needless to say, I never received the message, and no one from the warehouse bothered to follow up. I can't help but wonder how long our furniture would have sat in that warehouse if I hadn't bothered to call. (But why should they call twice? They got their money.) I have bought most of my furniture from Macy's and love their stuff but I was looking for a sofa with nail heads. Gavigan's had one sofa I liked but not in the color I liked so NAncy said she would be in touch by email when more colors came in. I also asked her pricing on a bedroom and she was inaccurate on both items the bedroom pricing she qtd me wrong more than once and told me more colors were to come In for the couch and never got in touch with me and also told the price of 699 would be good till the holiday but it had gone up. I decided to walk back in to see if there were other colors however they said they didn't have any so I chose a different couch but my heart was set on that one. Three days later I found the couch I wanted in the color I wanted and Gavigan's said they wouldn't take it back which I don't get..Macy's takes things back I mean they charge you a restocking fee but take it back and they wouldn't even need to charge the fee because it would go right back to the store. I have had it for three weeks now and feel very hurt and upset and don't even use it because I'm not home and it wasn't what I wanted. Also they overcharged me 1482 for a small couch and chair then I went to a party and a girl I knew said their furniture dry rots and it happened to her ..This is upsetting on so many levels was told wrong information.overcharged..and not even told their wasn't a return policy now I bought the other couch and can't return this couch to Gavigan's...I wouldn't recommend them if they can't tell you proper information, their furniture dry rots and they overcharge you and won't let you return within thirty days !!!!! Not a happy customer. Also my mom tried calling again today to see if maybe there was something they could do. The manager acted nice to my mom n said she'd ask and let me know.
