(RESULTS INCLUDED IN REVIEW) If you're reading this review, it means you're genuinely trying to find a good dermatologist so good on you. I've now gone in for two separate needs 1. Hair thinning / loss 2. Rash on my torso 1. (Hair Loss) I'll include the before and after photos of 1 year going to Gavino and you'll be shocked at the difference. I had been going to a couple of different dermatologists before, but felt I was always getting a surface level treatment. When finally finding Gavino, I was surprised at the level of treatment they provide. I was prescribed 2 oral medications and a shampoo. I told Dr. Gavino how I had been on finasteride, and topical minoxidil before but saw okay results. He informed me he preferred oral minoxidil instead of topical to prevent breakage in my already thinning hair (bonus because taking the oral medication is SO much easier) and later added a new medication to boost my hair treatment. It's been 1 year and my hair is INSANELY healthier now, and the loss has completely been stopped. I plan on doing PRP at their clinic to continue to boost my hairs health, and will update later this year. 2. Rash - Super simple but again, I was able to get a quick appointment, determined what it was, and prescribed a cream that knocked it out in literally 2 days. Their office is definitely a cut above, and I'll breakdown what I've seen so far. - Texting only facility, which it's 2026 and I think just about everyone is tired of getting spam calls so this is a breath of fresh air - Staff is awesome! They're great at their jobs, smooth, professional, and extremely efficient - Gavino is the best dermatologist I've worked with! The guy actually gets things done, and has exceeded my expectations to where I've recommended him to friends that live hours away. Charismatic but also extremely knowledgeable to where he has walked me through the treatment plan and answered any and all of my questions! If you're still reading this review you're either really looking for someone good, or work at their office LOL all in all as a current patient, I cannot recommend them enough for your dermatology needs. read more

Dr Gavino is indeed personable, but there are a few things that are worrisome. I do not like the antibiotics he gives at every visit after a surgery. Some people don't know that doing this can make you resistant to antibiotics. I don't like that you can't talk directly to him with a question after a surgery and a diagnosis that you don't understand. You must text which is very odd. Or he wants a picture sent . I was a Derm nurse and know this is not a good thing to do. You need to be able to talk to him with a question. Also wait times have gotten too long. My husband and I have been loyal patients since Gavino opened. They like to communicate via text which is not an issue until there's a payment needed. If your credit card on file has changed since your last payment they do not send you a link or even provide the last 4 digits of the credit card on file before they run it. If it is declined you're automatically charged $5 and they immediately mail a bill and charge $5 extra. If they would text a link to pay it would have been taken care of that day. We will be finding another dermatologist. No one charges $5 to mail a bill without warning. We are not leaving because of Gavino but how his office is run read more

Long overdue review - misdiagnosis PARENTS BEWARE. My daughter was seen here when this practice first opened, and they stated they accepted pediatric patients. Her appointment was after school, and she had blue marker on her hands. We were told she had to wash her hands because the "doctor is very particular" and didn't want marker transferring onto the round ball pillows in the waiting room, which we were told were "very expensive," and that we may be charged if marker got on them. We complied, washed her hands, and returned to the waiting room. Once we were brought back, the nurse then insisted my daughter put on gloves to ensure no marker would rub off on the walls. Again, we complied. The doctor then entered the room for no more than two minutes, stood several feet away, briefly looked at my daughter's stomach, and prescribed a cream for what she diagnosed as an infection. My daughter was later correctly diagnosed with a genetic condition--vitiligo. My suggestion would be not to advertise pediatric care if your provider is this inflexible and uncomfortable treating children. What we believed to be vitiligo--a sensitive condition requiring thoughtful care--was not only misdiagnosed, but the entire experience made us feel as though we were a problem or a contamination rather than patients. This experience was upsetting and unacceptable. We will never return and do not recommend this practice to anyone in the area. My wife has been on the phone with 3 different people today who work in the billing office. They incorrectly filed some visits with my Insurance but correctly filed others visit. They overcharged us hundreds of dollars. It's their policy to not issue a refund but to apply a "credit" to future services. Strongly recommend to anyone to continue looking. read more

Dr. Gavino and his staff are welcoming, but that's about it. My husband and I have visited the clinic a few times, but we've always had to wait almost two hours with an appointment. Both of us work, and neither of us can take time off to wait for hours and only be seen by Dr. Gavino for 15 minutes. The products he sells are also very expensive. Last November I switched to Dr. Gavino for my annual skin check. The prognosis was clean with the exception of one spot on my leg to watch quarterly. I was charged the non-insured rate, $187.00. I was concerned at his findings so in January I went to my old dermatologist. She was not concerned with what Gavino saw but did remove two pre-cancerous spots on my face. Since my original visit to Gavino I have received multiple billing's which their office agrees should not be. Today, five months later I found that my credit card was just charged $44.29 without my approval. I would highly recommend staying away from this Doctor. read more

Do not go to this doctor! I had a nice first appointment on Feb 19. Dr Gavino took a biopsy and made another appointment to remove stiches and give me the test results. I drove 45 min to get there but he didn't have the test results. He removed the stiches and made a zoom appointment to give me the results. He never contacted me again. No zoom, no return phone calls, nothing. I called and texted 7 times. The voice mail states that the office doesn't answer calls. I left messages and texts repeatedly but no reply. After 4 months I received a very large bill for the appointment. I still haven't received the test results. Very frustrating. I'm filing a comlaint with TexasMedicalBoard.(TMB.state.tx). I have never had anything like this happen with a physician. Complete con. I suggest anyone else with this problem should also file a complaint. read more

I initially had a visceral reaction to the financial policies, things like super high penalties for late cancellation and no show well above customary rates, and their requirements to pay the full appointment price before leaving and to keep a credit card on file. All forms I filled out were digital and I was never provided with a copy of anything I signed. Also, I have never been provided with a statement, or any written document. Then they changed their policies for 2025 making things even worse. Since then they have: - Overcharged me. - Not submitted claims to insurance until I prompted them because a month passed after each appointment with no claims submitted. - Owed me money since the beginning of the year. - Refused to refund what they owe. The response I got when I inquired about the overpayment is that Gavino dermatology does not do refunds. Well, as the customer, I do not leave money on deposit with a doctor or any other business unless they're paying me interest. Plus, they're assuming there will be future appointments. Even if there are, I have met my out of pocket max for the year. Are they planning to hold my money until next year? No legitimate business gets to demand full payment at the appointment, then over charge for the appointment, then keep my money AND the insurance money. I understand how financial responsibility works and I have complied with that policy, in fact paying WAY OVER the actual amount I'm responsible for. But once the claim is paid by insurance and there is a balance due to me, they don't get to keep it. There is no patient portal and they refuse to use the telephone so communication with this office is limited to texting. However, my texts are replied by a different person each time with a robo-response. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Gavino since last fall, and felt compelled to share with you what a great physician he is. I had extensive lesions & burns all over my body from a broken golf shaft (it broke when I hit the ball) which escalated into a more serious condition when I managed to somehow pick up a parasite that was undiagnosed by 3 other dermatologists in the ATX area. I won't mention them so as not to embarrass them for being so unprepared and maybe even unqualified to assess the situation. But Dr. Gavino diagnosed my symptoms right away as a parasite and we are on the way to a full recovery. I cannot emphasize enough how grateful I am to him and his staff, especially Clayton, as well as Vanessa, who have been so supportive of me as I've navigated this dreadful experience. Dr. Gavino is amazing. I'm a 40 year old mom, and was seriously balding. No other dermatologist had any clue on how to help - unfortunately genetics, I was told. Dr. Gavino took a biopsy, diagnosed the kind of alopecia I had, and prescribed meds that have made my hair thicker and fuller than ever. I never leave comments on anything, but I felt the need to leave this one. I came to Gavino to get a spot on my back checked out because skin cancer is in my family. They were late to the appointment by about 30 minutes. As soon as they took me back, I waited another 20 minutes to be seen by the assistant. She then told me that the doctor would be by soon, but unfortunately the doctor didn't come until another 15-20 minutes went by. Once he came in, he took one look at my back and said that it looks good; so overall he was in there for 5 minutes and didn't even ask what my name was. After I got dressed and went to the desk, I paid $150 and left with nothing. This was the worst experience I have ever had with any company, but especially a company regarding my health. After visiting numerous dermatologists over a period of 25 years without success, we were fortunate to have a friend highly recommend Dr. Gavino. His practice was initially located less than 5 miles from our home, and we were thrilled to discover it. Although he later opened his own practice in Liberty Hill, which is an hour's drive for us, we continued to see him due to his exceptional expertise. It's becoming very difficult and annoying to make an appointment with this office. I've tried to call to schedule an appointment multiple times, but no one is available to answer the phone. After leaving a voicemail, I instantly get a text message saying I can schedule an appointment via text. I would normally not complain about that, but I have questions and personal information that I'd rather not discuss over text. I visited Gavino's Dematology today for the first time. It was super easy to get an appointment. They have two receptionists so seem to always answer their calls which is nice. They confirmed my appointment and reminded me which was another nice touch. The office is calm and well appointed with light music playing. Quick check in and was promptly called back as soon as I finished the paper work. The doctor and his staff were super nice and efficient. I was quickly seen, listened to and my needs met. This doctor charged my credit card without authorization and without sending me a statement today. Also learned their billing company charges a 3% fee. He also cancelled my appointment for a skin cancer removal and told me to look up a treatment on my own. This was after the office did not call with my biopsy results. I typically wouldn't complain online but it's hard to get into a doctors office and feel I wasted time seeing this doctor. He also complained multiple times about my insurance and told me he'd need to treat each issue with a separate visit. read more

I like Dr Gavino, but the office experience made me feel a little rushed. I think it's because of the set up; to enter the exam room, you go to the right of the front desk, and then when leaving the exam rooms, you head down a hallway that has crossing behind the lobby and you exit to the left of the front desk, where the receptionist will take payment and/or ask if you want to schedule another appointment. I'm sure it's usually fine, but someone else was trying to leave at the same time as me, and he literally couldn't get out if I stood there to ask scheduling questions and make an appointment for an additional procedure, so I didn't. :\ Hopefully that's not the case during my follow-up. read more

I Don't recommend it.. I am sharing my story and the reason: I called the office to schedule my 1st visit because of issue in my foot. Wart or corn? To make it easier, let's assume I said a ("wart", not corn) when I called the front desk, the person scheduled my appointment and confirmed that they accept my insurance, and I was there on time. After the paperwork (it was a lot, and was electronic). I was called to get in and the nurse/assistant was there. She asked me about my visit. I showed her my foot and I said, I have been suffering from this (thick layer of skin with white core, it is a raised bump surrounded by softer swollen skin, hard from the center) and it is painful with any direct pressure over it. It has been in my foot for more than 15 years, and I already tried several treatments before including "electric burning thing, soft shoes and others", all to avoid the pain when any direct pressure on it and I am struggling to walk. She looked at it and saw it, then she pressed on it, I said it is painful. She recognized it is a "corn". Here she should stop it because it was very clear to her and she should ask me to go to the "foot and ankle doctor" without wasting my time and money, and she wanted me to go through useless Paring and cutting to charge me for it. After she knew that it was a very clear corn. She grabbed a small cutter (like a very small knife) to basically clean the area, I said it is painful. She took few seconds (maybe a minute) in trying to clean around it with no reason as it was very clear to her that it is a corn either from my explanation to her and when she saw it from the beginning. It was very clear from the time I entered that room they don't have any treatments for me. She left me and walked out of the room to talk to the doctor "who I didn't meet yet" to explain to him what she saw. So, they all recognized that it is a CORN even before that very useless basic clean and after. Why didn't she stop because they can't help me? Unfortunately, they charged my bank account for nothing!. That's what I saw and based on my experience The doctor arrived and he said this is a "corn", let's use corn pads as a treatment. I said "I am not here to use pads that are available over the counter and I already used them for years", he started to look around with confused face as "he was trying to find answer to avoid saying we wasted your time and we are trying to make profit from your visit". He looked at me and said "you should go to Foot and Ankle doctor, not me". Why didn't they say that from the time that his nurse/assistant saw it and walked out the room to explain what she saw to him? He mentioned he doesn't know the area around your office/location. I left and they asked me to pay $35 as a copay for my "useless" visit. The insurance confirmed that there is no service called "Paring/cutting Benign Hyperkeratotic Lesion 1", and it is not something to pay for (it is not a treatment and it shouldn't be used). No treatment or service was provided to treat or to diagnostic it, it was very clear from the beginning. Immediately, I called and scheduled a visit with a Foot and Ankle doctor and he cleaned and worked on it and I have all the invoices that shows he cleaned the area and provided treatment, because no treatment or an actual medical service was provided by this office (it was totally useless but I had to pay for it) including the useless Paring/cutting that they charged me for it. If there was a good or effective service provided, the foot and ankle doctor wouldn't charge me for it again, right? I don't recommend it and I asked them for a refund read more

Dr. Gavino is the best dermatologist I've ever had. After a very thorough complete annual check, he removed some lesions from my head with liquid nitrogen and scheduled me back in six months. The appointment was not at all rushed and Dr. Gavino was on time. His office support staff was friendly and accommodating, the cost was very fair, and there was no hassle with my health insurance. If you're looking for a dermatologist, there's only one out there. After visiting several other dermatologists I finally found Dr. Gavino. He was the only dermatologist I've ever felt like cared about my skin as much as his own. He works in a very fast manner and gets you the results you never could've imagined you'd have FAST! I'm miles away from home now, at college in Mississippi, and  Dr. Gavino still helps me more than any other doctor in town. I can send a simple text to Dr. Gavino, and he gets my problems fixed ASAP.
