I like Gavin's Ace. The place has that small town feel. I get my keys made here and they work right the first time. Always friendly knowledgeable staff who escort you in the right direction. I had a $5 birthday coupon that I used to purchase the first lockset. When we returned it because it was defective, I was NOT given my $5 off when I purchased another AT THE SAME PRICE ! Parking is a pain, this strip mall is tight! Many great options, especially when you're looking for specialty hardware. Very friendly service, which is expected from Ace, in general. They really came through after Ian with the propane. Love the options for outdoor decor. Sometimes it's just nice to shop where you feel appreciated. I wish I could review positively on this store but I wouldn't know because they didn't let me in. I don't know if it's independently owned but since they are using the brand Ace Hardware they should live up to the same expectations of franchise does. The store hours states that they close at 7 PM. That means that the doors need to be locked at 7 PM not five minutes before and that's exactly what happened. Good customer service is taking care of the customer and also abiding by the rules that is stated on the door. I try to walk in and the man(white older glasses gray haired) signaled me ,"no", and he signaled me to look at the time and I saw that it was not 7 PM yet and he gave me a chuckle like it was some sort of funny act. I was disappointed that employees at Gavin's on Nicholas Parkway were not wearing a face mask. When asked why, they told me that they weren't required to wear a mask. Ok, I'll update my review. Still a joke. They don't repair window screens. What Ace Hardware doesn't repair window screens? Apparently this one. And which I was curtly told. Not, "I'm sorry but we don't provide that service", just "We don't do that". And they didn't have several other things I needed. And not one single employee was wearing a mask. And social distancing wasn't enforced despite the signs on the outside doors saying it would be. Never going here again. read more

Went in Sunday thinking we'd rather go to ACE than the BIG HARDWARE stores, because we like shopping at locally owned family businesses. Usually someone immediately asks if we need help. NO. We were in the paint dept. for 15 min while all the employees were chatting it up in the main aisle. SO we had to figure things out ourselves & decided on ready mixed paint. We had to go to that main aisle where the guys were having a little get-together, to ask if someone would shake up the paint for us.....OK so the machine shut off, and we waited yet again, and our guy was back in the aisle, having a great time with the fellow employees, SO I had to once again interrupt them to ask if we could have our paint.....My husband was going to walk out but I got our paint. The ladies at the checkout are very good and friendly. BUT THE GUYS?? not going back again EVER. read more

I go to Gavin's Ace Hardware for two reasons, the first is because I like to support local business', second I don't mind spending a little extra for stellar customer service. I appreciate the floor people and cashiers, they try their best. The problem I've had in the past is with Management. Usually arrogant and condescending. I recently made a large purchase based on a discount advertised on Gavin's own website page. In the store, the price on the product did not reflect the discount. When I told a Manager about the discrepancy that I saw on the internet is reply was "Go buy it on the internet." I then told him it was on Gavin's website! Totally rude and not knowledgeable of his own store policies. The Gavin family should look inward and eliminate this type of behavior from management. read more

Except for a few exceptions, none of the employees wear a mask. One employee yelled at me because I wouldn't get close enough to him to look at a fastener! They don't seem to care at all about our health and safety. read more

UPDATE: The pressure washer was delivered with the fuel cut off. After I opened it, the unit ran well. My caution below still stands. Took a pressure washer to their equipment repair desk as it wouldn't start. Was told it needed a new carburetor so I bought one and they installed it. Was told it was working fine. Got it home and it started but water sprayed out of a cracked pump (so I know they didn't actually run it with water). I replaced the pump myself but it would only run for a few minutes at a time so I took it back less than 60 days later and was told it needed another new carburetor! Supposedly it was ruined by old fuel. I tried reaching the owner but they wouldn't return my call. I submitted a BBB case which quickly resulted in a call saying they fixed it again and would deliver it, which they did, but it still dies after a couple of minutes. Bottom line, you may be wise to be suspicious if you are told by Gavin's Ace Hardware that your equipment needs a new carburetor. You may want to consider a second opinion or go elsewhere. read more

Do not go here for curbside pick up. After you've already paid for your item to get them to put it in your trunk, the morons require you to roll down your window and sign a piece of paper for them. What is wrong with these people do they not realize why were doing curbside pick up. I will never shop here again even after the pandemic is over. They are awful the service is piss poor. I had keys made there and I've taken them back 3 times to get fixed. The joke of a employee demanded to see my receipt then told me it's not the correct receipt and refused to fix my keys. I threw the keys back and told him to fuck off. He pretty much made me feel like a lair and a thief. If I treated anyone like that at my place of work I would have been fired on the spot. I will never use this store again. For now on I'll use family hardware or Lowes. I give a lot of business to this store over the years.. I'll drive an extra 30 mins before I use this store again. I'm so disgusted with the way people feel they can treat others. No more taking shit from these stores. i can do without. read more

This is my go-to place for nuts and bolts. They've got everything, even metric, plus weird furniture fasteners usually only in do it yourself boxes. Not a big box store, so don't expect seven varieties of everything, but if you just need garden stuff, a light bulb or Craftsman tools, it's quick and easy. read more

Just left the store usually customer service is way better... Not today! Guy doing inventory didn't have time to assist with some 2 inch pipe. Told me they only sell it in 10 foot lengths, when asked about the 5 foot price told me only if someone cuts it. Used to be my first stop not anymore. read more

This is similar to a small town hardware store which is why the various times I keep returning to this store thinking each time has to be better I'm so confused as to why they don't have great costumer service. They typically have a greeter that will help you locate what your looking for. But if you go in there because you have a coupon from your ace rewards it's a hassle to have them use it and if you need to exchange that item your coupon is void so you owe them money on your exchange. Their sale items rarely apply, I've even had to show the manager where it says they have the 10% off and he snottily replys he wasn't aware of it. I had a can of spray paint that came out clumpy and was causing me to wait for the application to dry and resand- 3 different employees had to test the can for 5 minutes. The prices are more expensive here without the sales and the coupons and since the costumer service from the managers is so awful I'm just skipping this place all together read more

UPDATE: 3/25/16 After many phone calls and much confusion about even putting in for a refund because I paid by paypal, someone from ACE hardware.com called me on Wednesday and said that she could have all 3 ottomans and the remaining 2 white chairs at the store by Friday if I still wanted them. I said go ahead and they were at the store on Friday. I have since put them together and you probably get what you pay for. They will do for what I need them for. read more
