Home Depot in Cape Coral, FL
Bruce K.

So, uh, I blocked the toilet in my Mom's apartment. And she's just moved in so there's no plunger. On a Saturday at 7:00 PM when I have a super early flight tomorrow morning. What to do, what to do? Well, the Home Depot is open until 10 PM and this meant I was able to rush out, grab the tool, head home, and not leave THAT for my Mom. Easy to find in the plumbing aisle, a variety of options from cheap to middle to higher-end. I got the one that "hides" the plunger piece so that it's almost decorative. And now you know more about that than you wanted to know but here we are at THD and I'm a fan. Thanks for staying open later on a Saturday! [Review 10797 overall, 565 of 2019.]

The best place in town. The trick to this store is it's so busy, mid to late afternoon is way better. Love THD

This place is an absolute gem. I have purchased plants at some of the big stores like Home Depot…read moreand Lowes... and fairly high percentage of them didn't make it to maturity. In an effort to try something different, I went to Depot Nursery. The owner (Alex) is knowledgable, easy to work with, and not afraid to steer you away from plants that won't do well in certain yard spaces with particular needs. All of the plants I purchased from Depot Nursery have survived and thrived well into maturity.... Which tells me that the plants they sell are of great quality. Their delivery was available quickly, installed quickly by Alex's guys, and I even had Alex cut in the garden beds and mulch afterwords. Their prices, selection and available service are better than any in town! Not to mention the fact that I've been able to place a special order with the wonderful manager Nicole for specific plants from them that aren't/weren't available from any nursery in town. I recommend this place to all of my friends and family.

We went to Danny Yates for new plants for our remodeled front yard planting beds. The staff members…read morethat helped us to select plants for our particular situation were very helpful and knowledgeable. We wound up buying about a dozen plants in two different trips there because they didn't have the particular flower color on our first visit so we went back a couple of days later when the next truck delivery came in. In all we spent well over $200 for all the plants. Our landscaping company had some illnesses so couldn't come out to plant our selections for a couple of weeks. Before our guy came to plant we noticed that one of the eight of the blue flower plumbago looked wilted and the leaves started yellowing. So, since they hadn't been planted yet we took that one back to Yates. Here is what we were told: 1) feel the soil, it's too dry, have you watered this plant 2) you haven't planted it in 2 weeks? 3) I have to check with the owner 4) we can give you 10% off on the purchase of a replacement (this is a $12.80 plant so they are going to give us $$1.28 off) 5) if you water it it may come back Yates does not warranty their material or workmanship. So while they have some knowledgeable staff, I will not be purchasing any plants from them in the future. They lost a customer for $13.

According to their website "we carry plants, garden supplies, books, gifts, and locally made items. Maximizing the enjoyment of life spaces through nature, imagination and thrift." Rick Molek is the owner of Thrifty Garden and he opened this micro-nursery in January of 2018. In addition to the gifts and plant supplies, Molek offers workshops on raising houseplants and also offers a houseplant hospital by appointment. Houseplants are a great choice for novice gardeners when Florida's temperatures start to soar the 90's. Thrifty Garden offers many different types of houseplants in the shop, and prices are affordable so you can flex your green thumb with minimal risk. They have offered in-person classes on plant care ever since the shop opened and with the pandemic they added online and phone coaching too. Don't forget that they offer beer and wine too. Now that is the kind of gardening that anyone can get behind. Check out their selection of raw honey and naughty garden gnomes. You can find a list of events on their website.

I think it is a great place to support and promote local fellows. They also sell cold beer, we had a couple while we were waiting for our table over at Bullig and the lady at the front is the sweetest, she gave me tips on how to take care of ny pothos plant back home. Their patio outside is wonderful to catch a breeze while taking sips on a cold beer.
