If you go to see her with a concrete goal in mind or a problem to solve, she will do her absolute best to help you reach your goal or solve your problem. She really knows what she's talking about, too -- which is a refreshing change, given my experiences with other counselors in Meridian -- and not only is she able to explain complex psychological concepts in simple terms and make them feel relevant, but she's also able to apply them in ways that suit you as an individual. There's no "one size fits all" formula with her -- she takes the time to think about what will work *for you*. I think she is affordable as well. I personally paid out-of-pocket, but it was worth every cent: she gave me the psychological reinforcement and tools I needed to feel alive again in what was one of the lowest moments of my life, and now I'm more productive and resilient than I've ever been in my entire life. The furniture and equipment used in this office was VERY dated and some even tattered/torn (still useful but not what is to be expected in a doctor's office.) By the end of my initial visit .... I felt like I was a medical nightmare. They told me (based on their comprehensive evaluation' that I was overweight, had poor posture, needed ergonomic guidance, massage, an anti-inflammatory diet, electrical muscle stimulation, and an adjustment at every visit! While some of that may have been true.... I truly feel like it was all a way to milk my insurance for more $. The doctor was great when I received my adjustments (which immediately made me feel better and able to function again!) I just don't agree with the chiropractor telling a patient he's doing a comprehensive medical exam. A chiropractor isn't even a doctor! I have since retired and no longer need to see a chiropractor!

After going through my personal information, insurance, the reason I needed to see her, setting up the appointment date and time, etc. she asked if I had ever been to a counselor before. I said yes, once before many many years ago. Based on the fact that I only saw that counselor once because the crisis I was experiencing had been resolved, she immediately says that she cannot see me because she needs patients that will stay on for at least a couple of months to work through their issues and not just take the 6 sessions provided by my employer's EAP. I said I wasn't sure if I was only going to do the 6 sessions or if I needed more, I was open to her input and work through what was needed, I tried to explain that my previous counseling experience happened this was when I was 21, 15 years ago!, but she wouldn't hear it, she cut me off and said that based on my history I would be better served with a different provider. I found that to be extremely rude, uncaring and unprofessional. She made her the decision right then and there that I was not a patient worth having. Perhaps this is to my benefit, I can't imagine that someone who just treated me in that manner can be a great counselor. What a disappointment! Not sure how the therapist came to the conclusion that I was not "willing" to receive help. Seems to me this was purely financially motivated on her part!!!!
