So I'm probably one of the worst customers when it comes to getting my hair done because I never know what I want. I know a true hair artist should know how to work with my face shape and complexion and hair type. Especially when u pay good money. So I leave it up to them. This is the first that I felt like I left with model hair. TERRA is a true artist. She is awesome at what she does and is way more than just a stylist. She is inspiring in every way possible. She makes the whole process super easy, fun and exciting. You walk away having a new self (physically and mentally). She loves what she does and will talk to you through the whole process. I came in early and she made time to hear me out with my worries and helped me figure out what I wanted. Honestly she made my hair better than I could ever imagine possible. This was the worst salon experience I've ever had. The stylist didn't even talk to me AT ALL. They were all too busy running around figuring out their jamba juice orders. Plus she didn't listen to what I wanted. So instead of getting my brown hair with blonde highlights touched up, she dyed my brown hair blonde. So I was completely blonde when I left. Plus she had double booked me. So while I was waiting for my hair to set, she was coloring someone else and totally ignoring me. Someone else came over and had to wash my hair out, she couldn't find someone right away so I was still sitting there after the buzzer went off. Then the other person dried my hair and styled it. The original stylist never paid any more attention to me at all... not that she ever did. The color was not what I wanted AT ALL. I said that it wasn't what I was expecting and she said that there was nothing she could do and then still expected me to pay and then gave me a nasty look when I didn't tip. Beware of bad service! Long story short; I made a one and a half hour drive to Gavora Studio to purchase the WRONG shampoo. After speaking with a "professional" and showing her my hair, I made the purchase with all confidence that it was the correct shampoo (until I fully read the box at home). When I brought this to their attention the next week after making yet another drive to Manteca, the staff was unapologetic and a bit snooty. I've worked in retail for many years and I know how it is when an unhappy customer gives a piece of their mind. With that said, I brought the issue to their attention calmly and expected a bit of empathy BUT surprise, surprise... they didn't give a s!@t. The salon is always super clean, the product is well stocked, and the stylists are the best in the area. Even the music is good. Vadre is a cut and color goddess. Rob is amazing! My daughter wanted her dark brown locks to be changed into vibrant teals and blues. It was a two session process and reasonably priced. Rob is a lot of fun to talk to and makes it an enjoyable experience. I've now since had him do my hair and love the look, feel and health of my cut and highlighted hair. She was able to fit me in her schedule on the day of my birthday, worked her magic and turned my ugly yellow orange$255 disaster bayalage done by a previous stylist, into a very pretty blonde color melt, for free , she said it was her birthday gift to me !! . I have gone to beauty shops as far away as San Jose, trying to find someone that knows WTH he/she is doing. Gina, the BEST haircutter in the area is the ONLY person I trust to cut my hair. I have appointments four months out, to be sure I get her. I don't know what the problems these other reviewers had, but I always get treated special, maybe it's attitude? I just left Gavora Salon and it was worth the hour drive to get here! My stylist was Vadre and was so nice and listened to exactly what I wanted and told me what my hair could and couldn't handle. I moved to Manteca in 2005 from the Bay Area and have had my hair cut in some very high end salons and I will put my stylist (Connie) up against any of them. Connie does a tremendous job on my cut and color. I have received far more compliments on the Gavora cuts than any other salon. I appreciate that a salon of this calibur exists! read more

I have been going to gavora studios for more than 6+ years and I have never ever in all those years had any type of problem with anyone at the salon. Sara has been my stylist and I will never give her up. I question the validity of some of these comments. $185 for a hair cut??? I doubt it! I have never seen anyone treated poorly or in any other manner other than friendly. Some one waited 20 minutes? Well I'm sorry about that but did you consider that maybe the person before you was late or that maybe they had a need that took a little longer? Wouldn't you want that same attention? I'm sure that you were told she was running late. I know I always have been. I absolutely love Gavora. My mom and i have been going there for a few years now and refuse to go anywhere else. I live in san francisco now and i still go back to get my hair done. Amy, the receptionist is always very sweet and patient. My stylist, Sarah, is very friendly, helpful, and always does a fantastic job with my hair. I definitely recommend going here if you need a style for prom, dances, or any special occasion! They do an excellent job helping you decide what style is best for you! I had been searching for a good stylist for a while since my last one had pretty much ruined my hair... I tried Gavora out on a referral from my sister in law, I called and they told me that I needed to have a consulation so that they could serve me in the best way possible. They asked me if I had a stylist in mind I wanted to request and when I said no, they told me that Jaclyn. When i arrived for my appointment I was greeted by the front desk, I waited a few minutes and then was greeted by Jaclyn, she was extremely pleasant and listened intently to everything that I wanted out of my hair. She recommended a few things and once we agreed... she colored my hair a dark color and gave me a trim. The results were excellent! she also recommend shampoos and conditioners that would help maintain my hair, I am hooked on those products too! I was pleasantly surprised to see that on each visit you are offered a drink, non alcoholic or alcoholic, and they are always very creative, once I had something orange-y another time it was an apple martini, either ways, Gavora offers great service from the staff (especially Jaclyn), great drinks, great styles and cuts. Been to many salons and this place is hands down the WORST!! Lack of customer service! On top of it stylist was horrible. Took less than 10 minutes to complete my haircut and never even seen my hair dry to know what she was starting with. Upon entering salon, I was barely acknowledged by unfriendly receptionist. A semi unfriendly assistant shampooed my hair while the stylist was lounging in back room. Assistant called out stylist and I received a 55 dollar supercuts style haircut!!! Years ago gavora was probably the best salon in town, they were professional and friendly. Now they're nothing but rude and it's not a good experience. First off, they NEVER have availability..it's like they try to make theirselves seem busier than they are. Seriously? How long does a waxing take? 5-10 minutes?? No wonder they had to relocate, probably because they make $50 a day sitting on their asses. They lost my business years ago, I'd rather drive from Manteca to Lodi to get better service in a friendly atmosphere. Costumer service is a big thing in my opinion. read more
